PUNISHER war zone review!!!

Wow...Newsarama is proven to have no journalistic integrity? I'm glad someone else has finally seen it.

What really happened is this: Blaire performed some sexual favors for someone whose brother knows a guy who's cousin once read a Punisher MAX comic book while watching one of the previous Punisher films and playing the Punisher video game while also wearing a Punisher t-shirt. This somehow led to this "review."

This statement is so full of WIN, Kudos sir.:woot:

As a Punisher fan, I know what I'm getting. Everyone should know what they're getting. It's all in the title . "PUNISHER : WAR ZONE". I'm not expecting a deep crime thriller. I'm expecting the kick and thrill Punisher comics always deliver. I can't frickin' wait.

Haha that ass of a reviewer got owned big time.
Someone should send that to his e-mail or something.

So it could be fake...hmm.

If I cared about Ray's accent, this might be a bad review (Hint: I don't). As it is, a lot of that sounds amazing. "It has a lazy script and subpar acting" tells me nothing if it's not elaborated on by the reviewer. As for the rating nonsense...ZACH AND MIRI had porno elements. Near as I can tell, WAR ZONE doesn't.

That line was more about the hypocrisy of the MPAA, extreme violence is OK but anything to do with sex whether it be ****, ass or dialouge is bad.

I'm not too shock this did not get a great review it is true movie reviewers are bias aganist violent action movies even though I am starting to question the credibility of that review. If that review is legit then it still not a bad thing since he did say punisher fan will like it and its still better then the 04 version.

I figured the reviews would be like this. I really don't care though. I mean, a non-punisher fan from a shoddy movie site doesn't like it.

Let me file this review in my "Who gives a flying ****" cabinet.

But the one thing that really grinds my gears is how this "critic" automatically looks down on the Punisher fans as people of lower intelligence.

The review basically stated: "Punisher fans(morons) will love this movie because of all the gore but I, as a great movie critic with good taste, find it utterly terrible."
So just because A guy can sit on his computer and do made up reviews of a movie he has probably never seen this simon probably does think he is roger ebert.Another thing his review (if it is even real) actual seems to tell us it will be a good movie I mean it sound like it has all the making of a good action movie and even said punisher fans will like it plus none of us were expecting this movie to be as good as the godfather and neither will most of the audience.

I will believe that review until something more concrete is posted.

I thinks true to be honest because of the way he describes certain things that were in the script.

But who knows......

Everyone here is a hypocrite. If the review was positive everyone *****ing about it now would be ******ing this writer. And then if a negative one comes out it would be all **** reviewers and reviews.

Perheps but his review does have a few holes in it.

Here’s what I have so far on the GREAT UN-likelihood that Simon Blaire has actually seen Punisher: War Zone.

1) No one at Lion’s Gate, including the president of marketing, knows how Mr Blaire would have seen the film.

2) The copies are so protected, not even the FBI would be able to get a copy right now.

3) I’m told not even the director has a copy.

4) Ray Stevenson’s agent was denied a showing of the film at the agency, and had to go to Lion’s Gate to see it.

5) As yet, there have been no screenings for the press or critics.

I’ve never heard of Simon Blaire before, nor do I know of anyone who has, but he would have to be AWFULLY important and AWFULLY well-connected to have screened Punisher: War Zone. Ray Stevenson hasn’t even seen it yet, and he’s right here in town for the premiere on 01 December!

In other words, disregard this review. Wait till a real one comes out. That won't happen for days yet.

Very interesting, so this guy on Newsarama could have made this all up? Given some of the odd comments (Stevenson being Irish, Lexi being fired, the seeming complaint about the film getting an R while Kevin Smiths Porno flick got an NC-17) I wouldn't put it past some site trying to get a scoop.

Yeah this review is about as reliable as wikipedia.

I say its a load of ******** written by someone desperately trying to make a name for himself.

Stevenson is technically Irish, and again the porno reference was probably about the whole sex bad, violence OK MPAA thing.

Totally OT, but I love your user name. Taxi Driver is one of my favorite films of all time.

In the end we are just going to have to wait a couple more days which will most likely will be by monday night or tuesday before we get some real reviews.

Are people bombing the board asking where and when this screening took place? If this guy seen it, he should nip these accusations in the bud and (*snicker*) uphold his journalistic integrity.

But hey, this sort of thing seems to happen more often than not anymore. Some of these sites are notorious (AICN, CHUD, Dark Horizons) for running reviews that are later pulled for being bullcrap.

thanks,obviously I love taxi driver.

and uh,wtf does OT mean?

I still question why someone would make a review that turns out to be bs but I gusse some people are just like that.

There are a couple instances of it happening on these sites where someone thinks they can get away with it, between footage from trailers and leaked scripts, they can make it sound convincing. There was one guy here on the Incredible Hulk forums who said he seen the trailer at the New York Toy Fair that had Hulk footage (even though other said the behind the scenes footage had no Hulk footage). All this despite the fact that his description matched almost word for word another bogus review from a guy in Germany who said he seen it at a Toy Convention that was posted on Aint it Cool News. The guy ended up being some weirdo who also claimed he helped design Hulkmovie.com with the creator of the site. That was news to the owner of the site, who I know.

Like I said, if the guy seen a legit screening, it should be no problem to back it up.

I remember that guy. I hope he was banned. Got my hopes up for a while and then I just got tired of waiting for the footage he claimed to have seen surfaced.

I was actually put on a probationary ban for challenging him about his facts. He was also pushing copies of the leaked scripts with signatures from the primary cast members (including co-writer Norton, which was highly unlikely), and claimed he worked on the film. I'm sure he's around still, probably on another screen name.

As far as this deal goes, I registered on Newsarama and joined the chorus asking for the guy to back up his review.

Stevenson was born in Ireland, but raised in England. Watch "Outpost," he has a very nice "English" accent. It's not too strong either. In fact it seems to be one of the more subdued english accents I've heard.
