Cause during the fight there was fire all over the place. He can Manipulate flame. Every one of those tiny fires should have risen and shot at Iceman.

Oh plus Fire Melts Ice....I've never seen Ice Repel Fire before. But that's not my Argument.

I think Pyro should have used all of the fire that was around him.

ur right...
pyro wud have owned iceman but icemans had good defence in that fite plus hes quick he proly wud have blocked all the fire but u know wat i shudnt be arguing cuz i agree wit u :P

Pyro was really underused, like the rest of the Mutants. He's more than just a walking flamthrower. He can shape the flames into whatever form he desires.

Pyro didn't have enough budget to do all that.

Pyro should have been depowered. he doesn't deserve his powers.

Pyro should have won, but It's good vs. evil, and the bad guys usually lose

Pyro would have lost.. You know why:

Pyro can't generate heat and flames for an extended amount of time. Remember, his mutant ability is to manipulate flames, not create it. And besides, he's carrying a supply of fluid to ingite and maintain his flames. Once that runs out, then what?

Also if you noticed during that fight, there were huge chunks of ice falling right in the middle of where Iceman's ice met Pyro's flames. That alone would take an intense amount of cold to create. Also, just before they started the Pyro vs. Iceman fight, Storm called in a fog bank to give cover (for Wolverine's fastball & Beast's Magneto cure stabbing plan). That also worked towards Iceman's advantage, as he now had an additional amount of moisture to use against Pyro.

"Dude", they were also surrounded by water too..... They're on an island.

BTW - Still much respect for helping me post my very first avatar.

Who cares who would've won? Phoenix could kill them both instantly. :o

Comments like that should go in the "Phoenix vs. Storm: who's more powerful, the characters themselves, or the fan's obsession" thread...

It was a joke, you need to remove the large stick from your ass.

So was mine (joke)....

And I'd be glad to remove the stick, as soon as you go to one of the tiresome "I can do anything to anyone with my awesome power" Phoenix threads. :o

Why did you put ""Dude""??

JESUS! What is up with you today?! :o There were fire everywhere behind Iceman and Pyro, caused by the car-exploding-thing that Magneto and Pyro did earlier. If he ran out of gas, he could easily manipulate the fire from the fiery areas.

So? They surrounded by water and what was Iceman gonna do? Call a time-out and walk to the shore for more water? Iceman couldn't even ice-up earlier in the film. He wasn't even that powerful like in the comics.

I'm off to bed now. It's freaking 4 AM in the morning and I'm highly sensitive :o :)

Pyro didn't win for one reason....his ego.

He was overly confident, way too cocky for his own good, and he felt he could defeat Iceman simply by overpowering him with flames. He blew it, made the mistake, and Iceman came out on top.

Exactly!^^

Pyro needs a source from which to control and spawn his fire. Once he has a source he need not worry about sustaining it. It's not as though the small amount of fuel from his tiny lighter in X2 sustained the massive amounts of fire he was creating. Notice he no longer needs the lighter in that scene (instead he is sustaining it on his own via his hand), because once it's started there's no problem thereafter. Until his fire has been put out, there's no stopping it . . . it can grow and grow and grow, but he need not have the initial source to sustain that growth.

Well if you want to go by the comics iceman is drastically more powerful so no pyro shouldn't win....ever. Comic iceman can turn into water vapor, he can mess with people's brains by manipulating liquid molecules. He can do some pretty rediculous stuff.

Anyone think the Pyro scene in X2 is still the best of all Pyro scenes in X3, overall? That's how I feel, to be honest. I wanted him to make shapes, but no. :down

Uhhhhhe had 2 hold a button on that flame thrower thing. Notice how people said it in the interviews and he did it at the begining in front of Quills and at the end with him and Bobby's battle.

A button? More like a lighter. The tube sends off gas while he creates sparks from flicking his fingers (with some tiny metal stuff attached to it, I guess) and voila. You got fire.

I thought u were sayin' that he didn't need to press that button. Misunderstanding.

Just a reference to what you started in your post, nothing more.

Pyro can't control the intensity of the flames (making it hotter), just the shape and volume of the flame. He also needs to fuel the flames, just like any other thing that keeps it burning.... Pyro may also have the desire and ego to kill Iceman, but Iceman had focus, training, and the entire fog bank at his command. Both are great adversaries, and Pyro has a greater drive for power, but in the end, when pushed into a corner, that slight darker side of Iceman that needs to get the job done in order to survive tends to come out on top.

No, you're right, he wasn't created to be that powerful in the movie, but the moments when he did use his powers, he proved to be quite powerful. Such as the finger freezing the basketball court-sized pond, the icewall with one hand from 25 feet away - in X2, and now icing up in X3. The point is that he had plenty of "ammo" to use during that scene, and he didn't have to travel to the waters edge to get it. It was all around him.
