I also posted this in the other thread:

I just saw the episodes.

I didn't like the big eyes on some of the characters, especially on Parker and I also didn't like Liz and Harry's voice.

Other than that, which actually didn't really bother me, I loved it! It's awesome. I also loved the scene, in the second episode, where Spider-Man landed on the train and the one after that, where he jumped over the building....exactly like Spider-Man 2. I thought that was cool.

I can't wait for next week's episode!

I give it a 10!

Stillanerd, they decided to give Curt the prosthetic because it is supposed to be a modern world. It would be silly if they didn't. Also they aren't scared to show the arm if you watch next week's episode preview you can see the serum draining into the bottom of that arm. The reason why he wants the arm back...well let's see next week why.
Yeah, maybe he just wants to be normal again and feel like a full human, so he decides to try and grow an arm back. I'm getting so excited just thinking of the possibilities.

I loved it. The facial designs will take some getting used to, but the action animation was amazingly fluid. That Electro fight was wicked.

Voices are solid enough (though I'm not a fan of uber nerdy Harry). Loved the theme song, and the general vibe of the series is soooo spot on.

Count me hooked.

I gave it a 4.

I wasn't too impressed. :csad:

The best part for me was that "The Big Man" was voiced by the same guy who voices the Arbiter in the "Halo" franchise.

I can see how the animation style might take some getting used to for some people. I didn't care for the designs when I first saw them either and I tend to like simplified styling. But they have grown on me and I'm sure they will on you guys too. Let's get down to some characters now...

Peter/sPidey- Looks a bit young, sure, but so does everybody else on the show. It's interesting that they gave him a little "beauty mark" under his right eye because up until now I've called nondescript white male brunettes "Peter Parkers" and now he acually has a distinguishing characteristic. sPider-Man's simplified design gets no complaints for me if it makes him easier to animate. I'll overlook the expressive eyes.

Gwen- Why'd they have to make her so ugly? I mean, honestly, glasses and sweatpants? Ugh! ;) Seriously Pete, tap that before she gets thrown off a bridge.

Harry- Richie Rich is a bigger dork than Peter Parker. Kind of a downgrade. He better have some good character development down the line.

Eddie Brock- Ok, I'm liking this route. It harkens back to Ultimate Venom and makes their inevitable falling out so much more deliciously tragic.

Aunt May- I'd hit that. DAMMIT, GALLOWAY! Learn how to draw old peole!

Curt- I don't care for the robot arm. Like someone said before, having one arm made him more sympathetic. Plus this ventures into the overly futuristic terrain I hated so much about the 90s toon. But it's cool. His character has a likeable "absent minded professor" vibe to it. I just wish he sounded a little smarter sometime.

Norman Osbourne- A redheaded Chinaman? Affirmative action at Kids WB, now you're just getting silly! v_v; Overlooking that, he's a royal, unapologetic *****ebag. Even when Vulture's flying his ass around NYC with dagger-feet, he still refuses to apologize and belittles him.

Vulture: I'm what you called me! A Vulture!

Norman: I called you a buzzard!

Vulture: What!?

Norman: I called you a buzzard and you can't even get THAT right!

Bravo.

Liz Allen- I don't mind that they went down the hisPanic route. But the whiney accent's a bit much. With a last name like Allen, you'd assume her dad's probably white and she grew up in this country. Because you're an awful racist. ;) And while we're on that issue...

Enforcers/Hammerhead/probably black Kingpin- Now unlike Ultimate Enforcers where Ox was a giant black dude, sPectacular Fancy Dan (pimp name?) is a petite sized black dude. sPectacular Ox is pretty badass cosidering he jumps off a building after sPidey but that silly mustache is a liability. Montana...flies a helicoper. Hopefully, he weilds a lasso or whip later on. Hammerhead's a henchman (for now) with a pretty "meh" design. And Kingpin, who for now is just an ominous presence appears to be voiced Kieth David who only played a white guy when Goliath turned human those couple of times on Gargoyles. I guess Michael Clark Duncan had better things to do.

I'm not really a fan of the style, to start with. I didn't even watch the second episode. I watched the first and erased them both.

Hmm...according to the poll thus far, it looks like most people will be tuning in for episode 3...who knew?

Kingpin's not in the series dude...

5 People thought it was alright-letdown and...

About 40 people enjoyed it and thought it was good-spectacular

Good reviews.

Norman is not a "Chinaman". He is definitely Caucasian.

Don't get me wrong, GG, I understood what they were shooting for with Dr. Connors having a prosthetic arm. Considering the advancements made in prosthetics it logically does make sense. Even so, I thought it looked too much like a robotic arm (then again, he is a scientist) which to me kind of defeated the idea of him wanting to regenerate his lost limb (plus, I was being a little sarcastic about them being afraid to show his stump, and I was out of the room when they were during the preview for next week). And you did notice that I liked a lot what we've seen so far, right?:cwink:

As for motivation, I think Spider-ManHero is right and that they'll be going for the idea that Connors is using the regeneration formula on himself he wants to be "normal." My guess is that while his wife tries to warn him of the risks, Connors tells her how tired he is of how people stare at him, think of him as a freak, or worse, pity him because he's handicapped. It also would provide an "it's okay to be different" theme and tie into Peter in how he can sympathize in that he too is considered a "freak" by his peers as well.

I know dude, just tellin you what I think.:cwink: The Lizard's episode looks darker then the 2 episodes today so looks like something good is in store for us.

Someone please put it on youtube so mad.:csad:

Vulture- Crotchety old guy in a flying suit. Not too many complaints on the suit other than the strangely sharp/blunt dagger toes. Some joints might have been nice. I guess the face was too cartoony. A long nose is to be expected, the eyes looked like they had some kind of square shaped pupils but the fangs? Really? Messed up old guy teeth'd be more like it. Whatever, in a pretty crowded first episode, me made a good antagonist.

Electro- Oh. My. God. This was probably the best single-episode buildup from a decent guy to a supervillain in recent memory. The bioelectricity/sludge/filter-holding combo made his "accidental" origins just plausible enough. Then he finds out he's sort of trapped in this state ruining his plans to "go back to college, meet somebody, do something with my life" (Translation: "How am I ever gonna get laid again like this!?") Max goes off to try and regain some semblance of a normal life and after a series of misunderstandings, sPidey pops into his life and acts like a total dick! It creates sypathy for the guy while showing how imperfect the hero is. Pretty ballsy! Afterwards, he's threatened by a cop and, in a reasonably pissy mood, he goes after the man resPonsible for his condition demanding a cure.
I didn't care for the design when I first saw it. (Some of you might remember my my infamous "crotch tube" redesign) But dammit, it grows on you.

Yeah, that was a joke based on his overly squinty look.

Kingpin's not in the series dude...
Oh? Then who was on the other end of the line? Silvermane?

Agreed. I believe, if I may be so bold, that this Spider-Man series has so far revamped Electro on the same level that Batman: The Animated Series did for Mr. Freeze--taking a B-list villain with weak motives and giving him A-list treatment and characterization.

No, it was the Big Man. He was around in the classic Lee/Ditko days. Frederick Foswell.

I couldn't have said it any better myself. Anyone think James Arnold Taylor and Josh Keaton might have been better in their Spiderman: Friend or Foe roles.
