Superman Returns Ratner talks Superman!

ratner = most uprofessional (not to mention pompous) director ever

Guess you have never heard of a man by the name of Joel Schumacher! lol :woot:

Now that man is the most uprofessional (not to mention pompous) director ever! lol Singer is a close 2nd! Ratner is a cool guy you all just like to give him a hard time.... Flame on! lol :p

Oh how about a guy named Mel Gibson!?
Sorry I know that was too easy! lol couldn't resist! :p:up:

Schumacher isn't unprofessional and pompous. He seems to be quite the opposite. He just made the worse film in the history of film ever. But, I wouldn't say he's a jerk. I'd say I DO hate him. But not b/c he's a jerk.

Ratner does come off as a jerk though. I mean, seriously....he does. Didn't he say he created new powers for some of the mutants....and then I saw the film and there was nada. He was just the studio guy. Fox wanted someone to make they're film they're way and they got him. That's the story I've heard.

It's pretty obvious why people hate Ratner. More obvious than some people's hatred of Singer.

Ratner's really just a hack who acts bigger than the quality of his filmography. His comedies were alright, but that's more of the cast than anything. Red Dragon is infinitely inferior to Manhunter, and that After the Sunset was a cinematic holocaust. It's hard to blame Ratner for all of X3 (give some blame where it's due : 20CF and Rothman), but that was still a bad decision and Ratner certainly didn't help. He needs to stay with dumb action comedies and his ego needs to take a few hundred notches down as well. Maybe once he gets some style, originality, and humility, he can work on making a movie where he actually matters in the process.

ALOT of Singers cast from past films have hated working with him, and some even sued for sexual harrasment... Ratner has never had that, and infact people like Ian M. which someone else brought up actually liked working with Ratner more then Singer, and lets also remember Hally wouldnt come back as Storm if Singer was the director but said yes to Ratner.

Singer's a hack, and its proven in his work... His only decent movie has been Usual Suspects, and that was half decent, and honestly WAY overrated... Good 2nd act, and end but the first act was terrible.

X2 was a decent movie only because they added more action to it if not we would have some hackwork like we had in Superman Returns...

ummm....pardon my ignorance....but what does "hack" mean.....I see that used alot around here....does it mean "fraud" or "phony"?

I'd prefer superman had a brother than a son in a new superman movie.

At least we'd get a superfight instead of a super mess...:(

Just to clarify, Halle Berry began reconsidering reprising her role as Storm under Singer in November of 2003 . . . and that was before she took a major career/superhero spiral with Catwoman. "Berry isn't signed to make any more X-Men movies but she says she'd come back for another if 'they could give Storm a little bit more to do.' Even if she's relegated to the background, she'll likely return. 'I'm so connected to the group that I would come back.'" To which the producers have noted that they couldn't imagine doing a film without Berry, McKellen, or Stewart and that a well written storyline would be in order for her, if not an individual Storm movie.

It means George Lucas.

George Lucas???? I'm sorry....I still don't get it.......does it mean unoriginal or something........

I think hack is someone who gets by under the radar, while be crappy, yet being flashy enough to trick people they're decent.

But, that's from my mind's dictionary. The real life one might see differently.

Superman is a difficult character to handle. Though my disappointment and outright disgust with Singer will never fade, I don't think Ratner would have been the "better" choice. Definitely there would have been more action, but he's a really horrible storyteller. Singer has him in spades in that department...le sigh.

Actually he's the easiest character and the most simple minded thing ever...if you look at him the way you're supposed to.

Not really. He's a much more complex character than people give him credit for. I think his supposed simplicity, I mean...your not the only one that looks at him that way alot of people do, is what probably hurts him in the comics as a character b/c writers look at him that way.

But, he's not exactly the vanilla character people take him for. And his powers often make him the HARDEST character to do. And Simple minded? Wow....I'm pretty sure you just called Superman stupid. Now he'll be pissed.
