Well now that the year is almost over and we have witnessed Singer's Superman Returns and Ratner's X3 how many of you think we would have been better off if the two had never switched spots? I know we'll never know what they had in mind for each film, but having the seen the films do you wish it had been the other way around?

To me, Superman Returns was just dissapointing, but had some redeeming qualities, while X-3 was a complete trainwreck. I don't want Ratner anywhere near Superman, and I'm hoping Singer listens to the complaints and makes a better Superman sequel. I think he can, and will.

As for X-3, Singer would have made a much better film than Ratner, he has respect for the characters since he crafted them all. Singer no doubt would have made a better movie than the "film" we got.

I'm thanking my lucky stars that Singer was on Superman and Ratner wasn't anywhere near it. I was a definite fan of the X-men films and was very let down with all of the missed opportunities that the film dished out (No Collossus versus Juggernaut?). Incoherency and the lack of time to develop characters soiled the entire experience for me. There were inklings of solid character devlopment, like the intro with Angel, but they never followed up enough to make it worth the emotional investment. I like Ratner as a director as I feel he's a niche director who is good at lighter fare (depending on who's writing) and I've thoroughly enjoyed some of his films, but I just feel that Singer's attempt at Superman was (even if others disagree with me) more on the money than anything Ratner did with the X-men.

Ratner's Superman movie sounded like it would be worse than the trash Singer gave us. I am also in the minority, I think, of people who feel Singer's X-Men movies are overrated. I felt that neither X-Men or X2 were great. I liked X3, but it wasn't great either. I don't think Singer's X3 would have been great either, judging by how I felt about the first two. Might have been better than the movie we got, but we'll never know. Either way, I think I would have felt X3 was good and Superman sucked, even if they directed opposite movies.

I wish Singer could have done both. I was so looking forward to X3 when Singer was still attached. I remember reading somewhere that Singer mentioned he has an outline of what his X3 would have been but unfortunately he won't disclose it.

It's tricky I suppose because I also feel that X3 was weak and I know for a fact that Singer would have done a hell of a third chapter... to add to the situation I had incredibly high hopes for Superman Returns, I was positive it would have been great... and, to make matters worse X3, I think, made more money that SR... in the end we got a mediocre movie (X3) and an average one (SR) and part of me wonders if I would be happier with an amazing X3 and average/weak Superman courtesy of Ratner.

Hmmm... interesting....

It pissed me off that Ratner was allowed to take over the X-Men franchise, but I'd take that over him ****ing over Superman. Of the two, I'm a Superman fan first and foremost.
