Justice League Re-cast Hal Jordan for JL movie? Yay or Nay? - Part 1

Something I get so often is the "why did they make Green Lantern white" thing because people know that I am into comics. Every time I watch that movie with someone.

2)DC deserves ALL the criticism. Much of John's fanbase comes largely from JL/JLU fans like myself. DC hasn't really given John's JL/JLU fans much reason to buy the books. We see him as the top GL.

I find that really, really sad. JL was a good show, but not a great one. Moreover, John and Wally weren't done justice on that show, particularly after season 2. They were often just window dressing in JLU. "In Blackest Night" was the only story that really touched on the greatness of John Stewart in the comics, and that was eppy 4-5. After that, he was mainly the guy who made green bubbles. There was very little of John there that would make him a viable live action character.

I think the comics will always have the stronger stories on average anyway, then next the animated stuff on average.

I thought the justice league show was/is a really great show.

The stories were not as strong as the batman show on average from the 90's but i liked it better.

The ratings for justice league animated series is really high too from the audience.

The average rating or score for that show is 8.6/10 and 8.8/10.

A 4 1/2 star show and i agree.

I posted this info in my other post.

I have no problem with it,but yes i do agree john stewart was done really well in his own comic from the 90's Green Lantern Mosaic, but i enjoyed him alot too in the justice league animated series and static shock series.

It was because of both shows i started reading comics again and green lantern comics more normally.

Note- i was planning to go back to comics anyway but the justice league cartoons, shows, upcoming stuff etc..and marvel movies, shows, cartoons, upcoming shows and reading a lists of superheroes both new and old and thier bio's for both dc and marvel and others comic companies etc.. overtime help me speed up my plan.

Plus comics are easier to get these days and keep around.

Thank goodness for the internet, kindle, ipads,cd's and dvd's.

I don't understand, Hal Jordan, or Kyle Raynor isn't really apart of JL. Why don't they have Jon Stewart in this movie and have Idris Elba play him.

Wait! What?

Honestly at this point I'd rather they go with a complete new route (for the movies) and get the other Green Lantern that everyone forgets......Alan Scott (the REAL/ORIGINAL) Green Lantern.

You're kidding, right? Hal was a part of the original Justice League (although the Justice Society included the pre-Corps GL, Alan Scott) before John even existed. Hal was part of the Superfriends (the first JLA cartoon) and 5 Justice League animated movies.

Kyle was the GL in the JL for nearly a decade when there were no other GLs (John was alive and sometimes advised Kyle) after Jordan went berserk and destroyed the Corps.

If it can be the new Earth 2 version, I totally agree.

lol. My intention was to state the reality of the situation, not to bring you grief.
JL was a good show, but not a great one.
Many would disagree w/that. I say it was really great. A game changer. It sure as hell looks like gold next to JL:War and some of the other crap WB/DC has put out recently

Nah. I strongly disagree. Take a look at this article I stumbled upon while looking at that page Mace links to http://fanbros.com/john-stewart-real-star-justice-league-editorial/ It puts a lot of things into perspective.
The JL kids' cartoon can't hold a candle to GL:Mosaic. That story was far more complex in it's nature and made John special not only in the eyes of the GotU (who were also window dressing in JL), but the DC universe. Decades later, fans are still talking about it's controversial cancellation. As I said a few posts ago, that story is the definitive John Stewart in any form of media.
I'd love to read it someday. I just want be sure to do it w/out putting money into DC's pockets. What made the cancellation of Mosaic controversial?

According to Cully Hammer (one of the artists on the book), DC didn't care that fans were supporting it. It was earmarked for cancellation almost from the beginning. This was just prior to Emerald Twilight, where the entire Corps was destroyed, and DC apparently didn't want to alter their plans to find a place for this book to keep going.

Figured as much. This seems to be a recurring thing w/them. I really wonder how big would John be if DC ever really got behind him. It's like he's pretty much come this far despite of them.
lol. You got nothing better to do, kid?

I'll blame DC for the problem with Mosaic, but right now I'm questioning all of the fans who aren't buying the non-main GL titles. I know Geoff Johns' run was great, but too many people have given up on the titles. Each of the 4 main Lanterns have their own book right now, and I'd like for it to stay that way.

Pretty sure they will go with a Hal or Kyle. No offense to anyone but hollywood will keep the tradition of one black guy. They have Cyborg that means the quota has been filled. I'd love to see John and Cyborg but this is hollywood.

If they do bring in Stewart consider me impressed and DC may have all my money. 2 black guys as original Justice League members. Seems like a civil rights moment for me.

The only benefit in using John Stewart is diversity. He's a character that DC clearly doesn't care about, and he was included in the JL animated series because of his race. He's a token character that plays second fiddle to the real Green Lantern.

I don't want ANY token characters in the new DC movie universe. If they want diversity, change Hal Jordan into a black man.

John stewart is green lantern.
Anyway bruce timm had two reasons to have him in the justice league cartoon.
1-Diversity
2-Bruce timm found him to be the most interesting green lantern.

Eh, like Bruce Timm's Robin and Flash his Green Lanterns were amalgamations.

No, to like, the millionth power. Hal is Hal. Don't make him a different character for the sake of diversity. John is a great character and is a perfectly acceptable lantern to use in a film. To an entire decade of 90's kids he's the most recognizable lantern anyway.
