Real Talk 56: Storm has never been written to maximize her true potential.

Has Storm been written to the best of her abilities, considering the canon i posted

  • Yes - she has been written fairly.

  • No - She should of been X-men leader and one of the strongest mutant

I've always been under the impression that her emotions affect her powers and that if she was angry the weather would reflect that and so forth. To me, the sheer fact they she can CONTROL THE WEATHER makes her an omega class mutant. It's already been stated that if she totally lets loose it might adversly effect the Earth and it's natural weather patterns, so that in and of itself makes her a little leary to go full force. She's extremely powerful, but must maintain control at all times.

PS. Cyke lost their fight for leadership because his head wasn't in the fight. He was already mentally conflicted about staying with the X-Men or being a good father and bowing out. In his head, he was miles away from the fight. There really should have been no way a powerless Storm would beat a fully powered and competent Cyclops. Just my opinion of course.

People caring about Storm, lol!

Well there aren't many strong black characters that aren't stereotypes in comics, so I try to stand up for the ones we have.

he wouldnt understand where you're coming from

The only truth here is that youre an idiot. Trust me, as a hispanic, I know damn well what its like to not have characters that aren't stereotypes. Vibe anyone?

I knew the conversation would get taken in this direction.

Yeah, as much as black people talk about a lack of black superheroes, Latinos are definitely struggling. Who is there: Living Lighting, Flamebird, Arana, Vibe, Blue Beetle...um...help me out here. Not clowin, just pointin' somethin' out. It is an injustice the lack of minorities in comics. Hell, I'm a comic creator and I find myself never making in WASP heroes.

Kyle Rayner is supposed to be half latino and so is Hawkgirl if I'm not mistaken.
Of course we also have Fatale (Marvel) and Menagerie II (DC) to keep the stereotype thing alive. For all the complaining there is about no 1st tier black characters, latinos and asians have it infinitely worse. I always wondered if George Perez had domething to do with Firebird and Living Lightning.

Yuppers.

I would actually call Storm a 1st tier character. She's probably the most well known black superhero next to Blade & the John Stewart GL

why are my posts disappearing over night?

I think she has been written fine, she can only manipulate the weather and if she wants to go extreme with say a blizzard she cant go to a hot sunny day without cancelling the effects of the blizzard and beyond that many mustants have one of two of her powers and are alot better with them, ice man for instance and whirlwind who dont need certain weather factors to use there powers to extreme extents.

I'm with the latino's on this one. We complain about Storm not being Omega level while the Latino's just wan to HAVE a hero.:csad:

and no the Super-Malon DOESN'T count! They were just a team of stereotypes.....come on a speedster and a master thief with an old school Zorro knock-off(although his outfit was awesome). Pampero was cool though.

I will even go so far as to say that there are more native american superheroes than latino ones.:csad:

This thread reminds me of the, 'Is Jean a Goddess? Or is Storm a Goddess? and which one is better?' threads seen so often in the X-forums.

Personally I think she is a well rounded character who's grown in the comic books and while it seems she's plauteaued a bit presently there is only so far that a human can 'evolve' mentally, physiclly and emotionally. Storm has done them all and is probably the prime character to use an as example of the, almost, perfect way to expand and make a character actually grow in the comics.

I agree with the last statement. The problem with that is even the native american superheroes end up as sterotypes. It's funny how most superheroes that aren't white have powers and names that tie directly into their culture, nationality or birthplace. It's weird.

I disagree, Native Americans are probably at the bottom rung when it comes to representation in comics. And if they don't suffer from 100% stereotyping it's probably 95% or somethign like that. Practically all the characters have something to do with spirits, magic or animal totemistic powers. Hell, even Forge has done the shaman thing! Nah, I'm pretty sure if you look hard enough you'll see that there are more Hispanic heroes than Native Americans. Soooo, you guys wanna tackle Hindu heroes next?:D:woot:

And once again Darth proves why his jackass style brilliance makes him one of the best posters on the hype.
