Real Talk 56: Storm has never been written to maximize her true potential.

Has Storm been written to the best of her abilities, considering the canon i posted

  • Yes - she has been written fairly.

  • No - She should of been X-men leader and one of the strongest mutant

It takes a special kind of person.

I think we can all agree that he's special. We might disagree on what this kind of special is, though.:D

you shouldnt make fun of darth like that he'll get his homey jag on you

I was referring to you, and your depicted age, if you were really born in 1985.

I didn't bother to read all the thread, just the first post. Perhaps your confusion comes from recent issues. Yes, in recent times (read "since Black Panther 14") she has been VERY BADLY WRITTEN.

Did you even kept up to the wedding between Storm and Black Panther?

It's like a pit H.A.T.E. Broccoli-Men...

Storm's powers work instantly. What's so "ZOMG, NO!" about that? Weather patterns can change instantly, it's been proven again, and again. Even if it wasn't true then again, what's the big deal? I know you folks aren't arguing pseudo-science on a comic book forum.

HAHAHAHAHA!!! I never get tired of laughing at you, Jplaya. :woot:

is this relevent to this thread??

answer

no

Actually, it does.

You want to pick on something about Storm being written, look there.

So yes, it contributes to the intent of the thread.

I dont even think there really is a Jplaya...I think what is happening is the cleaning lady at some major investiment firm comes in to vacuum and her butt hits the keyboard causing the computer to log into SHH. Then thru a series of events her butt dragging across the keyboard turns into jplaya's posts.....or something like that

It would make more sense than someone actually posting crap like this and believeing it...

Storm can't move through dimensions on her own. She does it with the gem from her necklace, one of the Madripoor set. The big red one she used to wear on her costume... remember?

i thought she got it from the Savage Land???

No, the gem was a gift from her mother, it did work on the Savage Land, and that is where she used it to open a portal to M'yrn's world, where she was sort of "adopted" by Queen M'yrn.

Actually, I'm sure that would result in something more coherent than a Jplaya post

She was always in the backgroun in x-men. She didnt have the backstory of Logan. She was very underestimated in her leadership capabilities, although she was second to command behind cyclops. But she should of been the leader of the x-men. She is just as good as leader as cyclops and MUCH stronger than cyclops and would anniliate him in an instant.
Lets take a look at her abilities again.

In a nutshell, she can transverse dimensions, control weather on a cosmic level, can fly at super speeds, telekenisis, and can see universal multiple dimensional color schemes at the highest level.
But she is never written correctly IMO. In her battles all she has to do is fly to the sky and zap her opponent with lightning mixed with a strong wind dose while making the outside extremely cold.
She is basically kazou (from naruto) but with the ability to fly and transverse dimensions instantly.

You must have forgotten that stint where she took leadership of the X-Men from Cyclops and remained in that capacity (in some form, either on Gold or overall) for 25 years.

And you're correct, her powers are not written to full capacity, but then no X-Men is at the moment: not even Cyclops. Cyclops supposedly will become living energy at some point. Logan may become some sort of demi-god. Storm could potentially replace Gaia. Jean could even become a Universe Elder in the next Universe: who knows.

But Storm by and large has been fairly written. She was leader of the X-Men until recently (at least one team of), she has beaten Cyclops in combat FOR that very position, and she has never been mischaractized...which is the fate of many others. She is definitely (until the recent marriage) a mainstay in X-Men...and if they have a big three, she is one of them.

Yeah, as much as black people talk about a lack of black superheroes, Latinos are definitely struggling. Who is there: Living Lighting, Flamebird, Arana, Vibe, Blue Beetle...um...help me out here. Not clowin, just pointin' somethin' out. It is an injustice the lack of minorities in comics. Hell, I'm a comic creator and I find myself never making in WASP heroes.
Hispanics have it worse in comics than Native Americans practically. The best they have is the "Hispanic" Kyle Rayner. Perhaps Blue Beetle will take off though, I hope. At least Native Americans have Forge, Wyatt Wingfoot, Pieface from GL...true none are great characters, but they are far stronger and far more utilized than "Firebird" or "Living Lightning".
