Not in character they all looked somewhat alike, it's great how much their characters transformed them.

Don't forget that with Harpo and Chico, they looked so similar that Chico once went on "You Bet Your Life" dressed as Harpo, and even Groucho couldn't tell the difference.

I had Ralph Fiennes in mind for Nicholson but Neeson’s just as good. Finding a suitable replacement for William Holden is pretty difficult.

Interesting family and history, and fascinating time, the vaudeville depression era NY. Might check it out.
These three and their humor, might be in that few that Hollywood does actually consider "untouchable" as far as attempting recast or remake.

Although as far as a biopic, I'd be curious to see if it could be pulled off.

My mind initially went to Robert Downey Jr, but I feel like he's a little "too big" to be seen as Shears.

I think that JDM would have that heavy charisma, but also be just unknown enough to be believable as a fictional character.

^ And he might end up looking rougher than Holden, who managed to sport bulging pectorals and defined abs, which is probably the only "flaw" in his character.


But yeah..a remake would probably be just another action-oriented blockbuster, rather than the beautifully photographed character study of the original.

EDIT: John Hamm would probably be an awesome "Holden" replacement, but I feel like JDM would feel "darker" for some reason.
