Resistance 3

This is the last I heard about it. It's from July 7th.

Hey folks,
Wanted to give you a head’s up about the Resistance 3 beta, when it’s launching and how you can get access. Starting next week, you may begin to see some of your favorite Insomniacs and others on PSN playing the Resistance 3 Beta. We are launching our Friends and Family beta next week in order to test our servers out before the mad rush of public beta users from SOCOM 4 and EU PlayStation Plus. We will be updating our servers, configs and patching the beta during the course of it to be sure we’re ready for the public beta in August, as well as the release of Resistance 3 on September 6th. We expect to run this Friends and Family beta over the next few weeks.
This is important, as many of you are holding early access vouchers to the public beta from SOCOM 4. The public beta is tentatively scheduled to begin in early August for those who got Early Access vouchers from specially-marked copies of SOCOM 4 in North America and for PlayStation Plus subscribers in SCEE territories.
We will have much more about the beta to share soon – so stay tuned.

There is also a drawing for those who did not get the Beta voucher that came with Socom 4.

Am I the only one who's found this entire series mediocre? Not taking away from anybody who likes it, but every time I see footage of it, I'm always underwhelmed. Always.

You must be some sort of gaming elitist.
Doesn't even sound like you've done more than watch footage of the games, not great grounds for judging them.

Wow, absolutely blow away by the level of detail they've put in this shooter. They really put some serious effort into bringing this franchise to the next level, and also brought back elements from the first they'd mysteriously omitted in the sequel.

This is going to be amazing fun.

The only one I didnt like was the first one. I loved R2 and Retribution

Im guessing you've never played the games considering you say you are judging your opinion based on footage

I think it's a great series actually, very underrated. Resistance 1 is actually a pretty unique game when stacked up against 99% of this generation's FPSs. Less so for Resistance 2, but that instead manages to be of a higher quality that 80% of this generation's FPSs.

Retribution is also great, though the voice acting is laughable if you're in the UK.

After replaying R1 a couple weeks ago after playing R2 i really enjoyed R2 more R1 just felt different although i like the online for R1 more than R2

R1 felt oldschool.
It was a relentless challenge, R2 eventually grew on me but at first I hated it for conforming to the standard FPS feel, it was like they were trying to be another game.

I played a good deal of the game today. Under embargo for a lot of it but let's just say it's a VERY polished experience and a LOT of fun. It has the kind of loving feel to it that was completely gone in Killzone 3. I really can't wait for September now.

If anyone happens to come across an extra code for the beta, can you please PM me and pass it along? I would be so grateful for it. :woot:

Do the colors of this map seem kind of awkword to anyone else or is it just me? The Green in the trees and grass look kind of super bright? Maybe it's because of the grey sky idk.
I think a lot of it has to do with the TV that it's being played on. Hopefully, I can get my code to work, and I will let you know.

You might have to wait. It seems that the Socom 4 codes were not to be activated until the 25th, but something happened and allowed some to use them early. It has been fixed apparently.

Edit:

The open multiplayer beta for Resistance 3 begins during the first week of August, Insomniac Games confirmed during a panel at Comic-Con today.

The beta will includes modes Team Deathmatch and Chain Reaction. No word yet on which maps will be available.

Resistance 3 launches on September 6.

I recently bought the double pack for R1 and 2. I couldn't play the first one because I thought it was so bad. The 2nd one is different. It starts out pretty slow, but gets fairly good a few missions in. Its still nothing amazing, but its a fun game.

Has anyone (on these boards) successfully used their code that they got from SOCOM 4?

They changed it to the 4th of August and US Plus members will now get access to it on the 23rd.

Many of you have been getting very excited about the chance to play Resistance 3′s competitive multiplayer modes online when the Resistance 3 Public Beta launches. Today, we’re happy to give some additional info about the launch dates for the beta.
For those of you who have received Early Access to the Public Beta via specially marked packages of SOCOM 4, we will be opening the beta to you at some point on Thursday, August 4th. Your existing codes will be able to be redeemed via the PlayStation Store and the Redeem Code button. PlayStation Plus subscribers in the U.S. will also be invited to join the beta beginning on August 23rd. If you’re a subscriber, all you’ll have to do is navigate to the PlayStation Plus section of the PlayStation Store to download the beta.

The Resistance 3 Beta includes two of our major maps in the game, the Seaside of Glamorgan, Wales, as well as a Trainyard in Bogota, Colombia. The Public Beta includes two of our five multiplayer modes, Team Deathmatch and Chain Reaction (the other three are Deathmatch, Breach, and Capture the Flag). You can level your character up, buy and upgrade weapons and abilities, customize your loadouts and unlock new character skins. We have capped the level in the beta at 20, so you won’t be able to get the full range of abilities, modes, maps, and weapons until the game launches in September, but we hope you enjoy this taste of the experience while helping us test our online infrastructure.
The beta will continue beyond the Early Access period, and we’ll be announcing additional ways to get in as we get closer to Resistance 3′s launch date. Can’t wait for Early Access? Some of our media partners will be giving out codes next week that will let you join the beta a couple of days early. We’ll also be giving out some early codes on our Twitter and Facebook account, so follow or Like us!
That’s all for now! We look forward to playing against you in the Resistance 3 Multiplayer Beta next week.

The closer it gets to this games release date the more anticipated I get, maybe it's because tho overall it was still good, killzone 3 was a bit of a letdown for me
