I don't know, one thing I've noticed after all these years of watching movies is that the least humanoid-looking CGI creatures are the ones who end up looking more realistic.
YES,YES,YES,YES,YES,YES,YES,YES,YES,YES,YES,YES,YES,YES,YES,YES,YES,YES,
YES,YES,YES,YES,YES,YES,YES,YES,YES,YES,YES,YES,YES,YES,YES,YES,YES,YES,
A thousand times YES!!!
I have been saying that from the beggining. The less humonoid he looks the more realistic he appears because you have nothing to compare it too.How would we know if he didn't look realistic as a neanthethal brute creature if we have never seen one!!!!
Did you see Golem in Lord of the Rings??Now did you see Arnold in Terminer 4?????And we are talking almost 10 years apart in CG years.
Just look at the New Clash of Titans film.Even in the original with stop motion capture Sinbad eye of the Tiger,Jason and the Agunaughts,Etc.Yeah they may be hokey and fake now (However I still love to watch them and it still makes no differance to me)but at the time all of those movies the monsters looked realistic .....Because they were monsters who knew if they were right or not. They moved weird but then that just added to the more reasoning with them being monsters. But in those old films the minute the monster grabbed a human to eat or kill him and they made the human in stop motion.I immediatly remember the image being lost and or broken. Why?because of how fake the human looked. Why because I know what the human was supposed to look like.
The more human he looks the more unrealistic he looks because we know what a human looks like and the feel of a human and movement of a human. That's why the Dinosaurs in Jurrastic Park looked so real.
Because we never seen a Dinosaur before to compare it too.Now compare that to the animals in Jumanji?Elephants and Monkeys and Rhinos all fake looking right. Why?Because they are all animals we have all seen before. It's just somthing we do in our minds automatically.
You sir are dead on it!!!!
