Eternals Rotten Tomatoes watch thread

I've never cared for Usual Suspects, unpopular opinion I know. Cool ending though!

The crazy thing is how bland Bryan Singer has literally directed 5 comicbook movies. That's definitely a record.

The Russos will challenge that. They are at 4 now, and probably will do something else for Marvel

You know if anything, the fact that it took thirteen years for Marvel to get its first rotten score and end it’s fresh RT score is really a testament to the level of craft and quality control in making good films.
If you include all of RT, marvel mcu has already had a rotten score from the audience and that's captain marvel.
For the audience side that record was broken first and certain youtubers like to bring up that score even if it was reviewed bombed but they ignore cinema score.
Keep in mind alot folks say audience scores are more important to them then critics score and some will bring up the last jedi and others etc..

Yes. If you count angry bigots spaming RT, we already have a rotten score for a Marvel movie. The first to star a woman, who has been mercilessly attacked for being a woman. A shocker in a post-2015 world. :o

The MCU’s First Negatively Reviewed Film Could Be Eternals

Eternals is *already* the first negatively reviewed MCU film. Campea saying the movie has more positive reviews than negative is extremely misleading. Even a lot of the “fresh” reviews have some of the same complaints as the rotten reviews, and read like they’re damning it with feint praise, and few of them are actual ringing endorsements of the film.

Guys, let's keep it about Eternals.

Thank you

Okay, clean up is done. Eternals will be the topic from here. Ya'll want to argue about Brie Larson like it's 2018, go elsewhere

...so anyway, Eternals is at 53 percent.

It's not great but it's not the end of the world either. It was bound to happen at one point. Also, it's still early to call this movie a failure yet since it technically still hasn't been released.

This is the first "rotten" Marvel movie, but honestly, I think Thor: Dark World, Iron Man 3 were lucky they weren't rated rotten at all. They are clunky movies that don't hold up as well on repeat viewings and are mainly riding off their likable stars and the success of Avengers.

I even find Far From Home to have a very clumsy first half.

This doesn't deserve a rotten score IMO. I'm thinking low low 70s/low 60s..atleast Fresh. It's really not the worst MCU film.

I think a lot of films don't deserve rotten scores. RT has always been trash, but people use it as a weapon in debates regardless.
RT is an aggregate counter, so it's not really a biased source, it's just the pot everyone spits in.
That said; a bunch of movies do get rotten reviews they don't deserve, Eternals could potentially be one of them.

I was mostly just saying that to get things hopefully back on topic.

With so many reviews already in the score won't move too much one way or the other. Would be nice if it doesn't go below 50%.

Marvel just put out a little teaser titled “Fresh” lol. Funny little nod to RT.

Well, it did just dip to 52, so there's always a chance it dips even lower.

Prob not that much more though. Starting to take more rottens for each drop. So I don't really it moving more than a max 5 more points

It's certainly possible if multiple publications are holding back on releasing reviews until Friday.

Nothing is impossible, but I think this is unlikely. At this point, Shang-Chi has 312 reviews. Eternals has 200 now. As more come in, it takes more reviews to effect the percentage. I can see the reviews continue to trend negative, but I would be shocked if it is over 5% at this point. Math simply makes that more difficult as we go
