Do introduce Capt Stacy and Gwen Stacy.

Do develop a relationship between Capt Stacy and Peter, as Peter starts to date his daughter.

Do develop the relationship of Capt Stacy as a father figure to Peter, and develop the relationship where we wonder if Capt Stacy knows/suspects that Peter is Spider-Man.

Do develop the storyline of Capt Stacy's death (not in first movie, but later), where Gwen (the girl Peter loves) blames Spider-Man for her father's death. Great storyline!

Reboot Origin Rule:

OK. I am torn here between:

1) Tell the origin via flashbacks, like one poster said, tell the flashbacks with narrative by Peter at Uncle Ben's funeral. I think this could be very moving, and serve as a purpose to quickly introduce us to the major players in this verse (Aunt May, Gwen, Harry, Norman, Capt. Stacy, etc.). And if the origin is basically the same as Raimi's verse, it makes more sense since it would for all intents and purposes, be a rehash of that origin (genetically altered spider, etc.).

2) Tell the origin with a new take on it. Perhaps something like tieing it in to Oscorp or somesuch. This would make it unique from Raimi's which I kind of like, and gives a new take on the story (of course still using the Uncle Ben portion of the story). It could also serve the purpose of introducing the Mechs if they take that route, showing Peter struggling to invent them and the webbing.

So what is your "rule" take on the Origin?

I agree. They definitely need to take the time to develop Peter and Gwen's relationship, and Capt Stacy's and Peters.

In one of my ideas for a spidey reboot series, for them not to have to repeat the origin over and over again i thought of the idea of using the death of uncle ben some time during the first film and alluding to peter being bitten by a spider, and the begining of the 2nd with the complete scennes of what happened, showing the time of when he was bitten, rolling to the main credits and scennes from the previous film and then shouing the main feature.

Do have a scene at night in the cemetery (light rain preferably), with Spider-Man perched on Uncle Ben's tombstone talking to him. Promising he will never forget "With Great Power.. comes Great Responsibility" again.

DO.. have Peter (being of a scientific mind) keep a journal to document the effects/observations from his bite/transformation.

This will serve as a logical purpose for narrative by Peter and serve a lot of the same purpose as thought balloons in the comics.

I like this idea (and they could still incorporate mechs).

* if lizard is going to be in the movie, make the the change as scary as possible. it will scare the crap out of kids but they will be gripped and will thank you for it.
my little niece was 7 and LOVED the doc ock 'birth' scene even though it was scary as heck

While I would not mind to see a really kick-ass transformation, with the rumored budget and the costs that would involve for the CGI, I wonder if the money could be spent better elsewhere.

I DO howerer, want the Lizard (when not if) he is in the reboot, to DEFINITELY be scary. No talking Lizard, just one or two words "struggled" out at a key moment is all.

I want the Lizard to be dark, where Connors was light. Show the contrast of Paridise lost (all for the vanity of his missing arm).

Pity, with Raimi's roots in horror that we did not get that from him.

I want a slow transformation anyways. His arm regrowing, then some scales and some teeth, then some eyes, etc. I would love to see an awesome transformation scene but if budget is a concern then I don't mind him walking into a dark corner and coming out as the Lizard. But yes, he needs to be facking scary.

Since I know nothing about the movie business can someone tell why Marvel Studios doesn't have creative control?
Is it just not possible or can it Happen?
Because I just don't see Marvel getting rights back anytime soon.
And as stated before, Garfield is prefect for it and
Webb would be a great story-teller.
