The Avengers Sam Raimi Should Direct The Avengers

Kathryn Bigelow does not have the credibility or filmography to handle a film of this magnitude. She did ok with one cheapie little war movie that was critically well received.

Look at her big budget projects. K-19, an absolute laughable mess of a movie. HORRIBLE.

Damn this Hype inconsistency... let me try to post this yet again:

Raimi is a Spider-Man fan. More specifically, a silver age Spidey fan. He understood Spider-Man and his silver age villains. He did NOT understand Venom... hence a horrible SM3. His vision really only shines when he has a passion for the particular story/characters. When he seems to have a disinterest in them... he cannot produce the same results. Does he understand The Avengers? I doubt it. I don't think that his particular style of directing would be good for an ensemble cast like Avengers.

So Marc Webb (500 Days of Summer) is directing the reboot.

Prove that he doesn't understand it.

This.

Also, we saw Raimi completely go to pieces when he had to deal with too many characters at once. That's a mistake you DON'T want to happen in an Avengers movie.

Speaking of directors, Sony inked Webb for the next Spidey trilogy. We have yet to hear anything on Avengers since Stark's, "We are putting a team together..." and some skepticism from Norton and Favreau. They can not afford to delay it another full year.

I think should ask TIH director for should have someone from the other films to set up this one. Louis Leterrier i think be a good choice for this and if Clash of The Titans is good then maybe his stock would go up for the job.

I still don't know where I stand in terms of a director for The Avengers.

Perhaps it's best if they just took their time developing it and concentrate on the likes of Thor, Iron Man, and Captain America before rushing to get a director for The Avengers.

Only this thing needs to be filming before Cap and maybe even Thor are even released.

Definitely before Thor is released. If this is going to make its May 2012 date it needs to start filming really early next year.

No one has yet to post a legitimate thought out or relevant reason why Raimi can't direct Avengers.

Here's something else. Raimi was trying to put together a Thor movie before he ultimately worked on Spider-man. This was revealed on the Spider-man DVD. So at one point Raimi wanted to work on and do a Thor movie.

So saying he only likes or understands Spider-man is absolute ********!

It's called personal preference. Deal.

Raimi is doing World Of Warcraft and Raimi fans need face facts that his comic book film run likely is over.

But Cap hasn't even started filming yet and Thor is moving a lot faster than Cap. So I honestly wouldn't be surprised if they pushed The Avengers back another year so the filming won't be rushed.

You know what Bryan Singer was supposed to be doing at one point before he ended up doing Superman and Valkyrie? A Logan's Run remake.

People are in denial of this idea because of their personal hangups on Spider-man 3.

People aren't "in denial", they just don't like the choice.

Raimi cannot handle mutliple arcs. He cannot weave them together coherently. I mean, pretty much all of his films have simple, straight forward plots. And when he has to do something a bit more complex ie. Spider-Man 3 he fails. He hasn't displayed the ability to direct a large ensemble either.

I think he'd do some great action scenes for Avengers though. But Avengers should be about the characters just as much as blockbusting action.

If they take another year then so be it. Wouldn't suprise me since Spidey is penciled in for 2012. But Cap needs to make its deadline because it will fail in 2012 against proven CB franchises. Also Marvel wouldn't have a 2012 tentpole if that's the case, although they would get their normal commission from Spidey and the next X-Men spinoff that will be released in 2012.

Yeah, I would prefer Letterier.

Leterrier has hardly proven he can masterfully handle multiple arcs and characters.
