Sam Raimi to Direct

Awesome news! Hopefully they let him go full Raimi.

This also means that Bruce Campbell and Ted Raimi are finally joining the MCU. :D

That is what I hope doesn't happen! I love Raimi but I do not want his cheeseball humor in a Doctor Strange film like what was in his Spider-Man trilogy.

So is Bruce Campbell going to be a version of Mysterio?

I wouldn't mind Raimi giving Jon Watts some tips on directing Spider-Man. Raimi created a more classic version that feels more like Spider-Man.

Raimi is an auteur with a very distinct touch, so I think you're going to be disappointed.

What do you guys think the odds are we get a raimi Spidey cameo?

I'm definitely aware of that having seen all of his films. I just hope he doesn't go too far with it. Doctor Strange was written perfectly in IW and Endgame, I don't want him to be the one making jokes at least. Leave it to other characters and have him be annoyed with it.

Let's not act like Doctor Strange didn't crack jokes in the first movie.

Eh... that cheeseball humor was appropriate for a movie like Spider-man. I dunno what comics you read but Spider-man had lots of cheese in his comics and I felt Raimi captured that well. So Raimi knows what to apply and by how much.

Whether that can apply to Dr Strange... not sure.

With it involving the Multiverse, I could see them doing something. I'd expect it to just be a quick CGI shot of Tobey's Spidey suit though.

Referencing spider-man involves Sony so I seriously doubt that happens at all.

Marvel and Sony are currently working together. It's definitely not out of the realm of possibility. I think a Tobey Spidey appearance would be an easier negotiation than the current main Holland series.

And if Sony can get some extra benefit from Spidey in the MCU, why wouldn't they go for it?

Nice to hear that from him.

For me personally, if Tobey's Spidey just shows up it will be my Cap/Mjolnir moment x100.

I will cry and then cry some more. I'll be that dude watching the Star Wars trailers. Ya'll know who I'm talking about?
I would seriously love it. In one stroke you adopt some of the best CBMs into at least the wider MCU multiverse. Of course we’ve already had JJJ so no reason not to do it now.

If you reread my post you would clearly tell that I don't want him to revert back to how he was in the first film. Hence why I mentioned he was written perfectly in IW and Endgame.

I never said I didn't like it in the Spider-Man films...just that I don't want him to go too far with it in a Doctor Strange film.

Spider-Man is one of my favorite heros so I know enough of the comics to where I was fine with Raimi's humor in his Spidey films.

Doc Strange was amazing in IW. Now Raimi can give him the environment to excel in his own film.
