Yeah, and that doesn't really surprise me. I definitely expect a major character to be killed of.I think they all are obligated to do Scream 5 and I know Neve and David at least have commented about they'd be excited to go back again. Though Wes has said one or two of the three will probably most definitely die in Scream 5.
I think Courtney Cox dying in the opening scene would have the biggest impact on the characters.
I'd actually rather Dewey go first. Judy can replace his function. Gale's kind of a difficult side of the story to replace in that you need that element of the reporter/writer trying to get the scoop in there.
I can see that happening, but I see Dewey having a higher chance of dieing.I think Courtney Cox dying in the opening scene would have the biggest impact on the characters.
Ok, how about this :
Opening kill. Let's change it up and have a guy and his girlfriend. Boyfriend is killed, girl is injured but gets away. Her parents decide to sue the makers of the Ghostface costume and halt further production on it. Lots of debate whether this would actual stop someone from committing murders or not, parents say that's not the point, etc.........
So it ends up that the Ghostface costume has been banned. Customers are no longer able to buy it anywhere due to its damaging rep. The owner/creator of the costume comes under fire trying to stop the ban. It makes big news. The ppl of Woodsboro are relieved, however. Everyone with masks are told to hand them in over to the cops.
Unfortunately, more murders start happening. Dewey has his police force sweep Woodsboro and make it clear : "Anyone harboring a Ghostface mask or costume and hasn't turned it in yet will be apprehended by police and named a possible suspect".
The story escalates from there, but that would be the first act I assume. They could have a whole theme about consumerism and merchandise and how companies can make a profit over something so heartless and tragic.
But the question is, what else is there to be satirized?
Long running horror series that don't know when to stop? By the time most horror movies get to their fifth installment is when they start getting desperate and doing silly things. They gave Michael a curse in Halloween, they replaced Jason, they had Freddy trying to come back into the real world through a baby, they had already started doing that with Child's Play 4, but went one step further with not only a bride, but a transgendered son for Chucky and placing it in the real world, they add a useless tack on like they do in Final Destination 5. There's always something they try to do to bring the glamour back to franchise. They can satirize stuff like that. I think that's a bit of where Kirby might come back in too.But the question is, what else is there to be satirized?
I'd say it's likely. If someone's gong to get knocked off in the next one, my bet would be on Courtney. Not sure exactly why, just seems to make sense over Sidney or Dewey.
Honestly I still say Dewey is not all that important to the franchise anymore. Gale figured out everything last time as per usual and all Dewey did was run around Woodsboro the entire film like a chicken with his head cut off. Now that Judy's around he's even more redundant kill him off in the opening and have Judy attempt to take his place. Then if you want get a next gen Sidney in there (if they don't bring back Kirby), and go with it.
