Scream 4!!!!!

Sidney successfully fought off Billy, Stu, Mickey, Mrs. Loomis, and Roman. (The fight with Roman was very physical and brutal.) Are we really supposed to believe that she couldn't fight off (presumably) some high school punk this time around?

Cause she's 10 years older. More slow. Gonna be easier to catch. Especially, if in the ending,
Sid and Jill are trying to get away from Ghostface and then BOOM! spinal knife strike from Jill.

Mrs Loomis is still the most surprising, and awesome killer reveal for me. I mean Billy's mother being the mastermind behind it. And played by Jackie from Roseanne.

I loved it.
Agreed! I love how crazy, but calm she seemed. Well, sort of calm, lol.

I think it definitely helped she was such a minor character and also the fact she was Aunt Jackie from Roseanne that made it all that much more insane.

Completely agree - Aunt Jackie being the killer? Totally caught me by surprise.

I sadly have never been surprised by any of the previous movies' twists, simply because I'd seen them before I was at an age where I could easily be surprised. I remember catching part of the first movie's ending on TV, so I knew who the killers were in S1. And S2 I caught on cable in the late 90s, and I knew who they were, too. S3 first aired on cable when, in 2001 or 2002? I remember catching it then and watching it in it's entirity. Still, the killers have had cool reveals for sure. While I'm not the biggest S2 fan, I think I liked Mickey's reveal the most, for the reasons that it was the very first time we actually saw a Ghostface being unmasked onscreen and we saw them speaking in the infamous voice to boot.

I just watched Scream 3, which completes my first viewing of the trilogy. Goddamn, where has this series been my whole life.

Really looking forward to 4. Here's to hoping that it matches up with the best of the older movies and that it has a reason for existing.

I rewatched the first three just a couple of weeks ago, all in one sitting. Great fun to watch them all together. I admit Scream 2 has grown on me quite a bit and is definitely better than 3 IMO, though to me the original will always be the king of the series.

Olyphant was awesome in that role. I wasn't really as surprised by his reveal but he played it well. Mrs Loomis I never saw coming , some people say they did because it was Laurie Metcalf in a small role. At the time I didn't see anything odd about that considering she wasn't a big movie star.
I was fortunate to see them all in the theater. Also I remember all the rumors. Sidney going nuts and being a killer was a big one and Stu having a twin brother , so it was always interesting heading into the theater.

Mickey was a cool Ghostface, although Billy and Stu will always be my all-time favorites in those roles. But I enjoyed what the others brought to the table when it came to the part.

Lol. Please don't kill this Wes.

I can see going through with this if the characters left alive are interesting but...

I'm not worried about a new trilogy. I'm worried about the prospect of a new trilogy without Williamson. I can take a Scream 5 without Craven. I can take a Scream 5 with one of the original 3 missing, but Williamson is crucial in this series.

I'm curious to find out what issue the studio has to Williamson's scripts . This seems like another slap in the face.

I don't like this. I hope to God the all the Williamson dialogue and elements are there in all their glory.

He's still credited in the credits and most of the dialogue in the trailers so far has been pretty Williamsony.

So Scream 4 should be fine. It's Scream 5 and 6 I'd worry about.

Why do studios get involved in the creating process?! They shake everything up for the worst.

I just hope they don't ****e this out like Saw or anything. Because these could get progressively worse and worse.

Can you imagine if 5 and 6 suck and still use the self aware stuff? How horrible would that be?

Studio intervention is what led us to Batman Forever and Batman & Robin. They didn't want the Batman movies to be so dark anymore. I think we all know how that turned out.

Yeahhh. I'm mostly worried about how Scream 5 and 6 with new writers could even manage to capture that Scream feel. That self-aware feel is a hard thing to capture without getting too hammy with it.

Is a new trilogy even guranteed at this point?

If this one does well, pretty much.

To me, Williamson is the only one who should be writing these films.

As good as this one seems, an entire new trilogy always seemed a little excessive to me, even if Williamson stays on board.
