I've been a little disappointed that Jon hasn't consulted her further on anything. Like... she's the reason he's back. Beyond that, it was the Lord of Light's magic that brought him back. R'hllor is the reason he is alive, and he is the reason that Jon can help retake Winterfell, and he is the reason that Jon can try to defeat the White Walkers. But so far Jon hasn't consulted R'hllor's Red Priestess on... anything!
But Davos will probably be pissed at her anyway, since she convinced Stannis to burn Shireen. I don't know if she'll survive this episode, or maybe she will flee.
EDIT: I'm just saying, if Mel is capable of doing what she has done, and we've seen the proof of her doing it, then why doesn't anybody want more out of her?
Does Jon's voice sound funny to ya'll? I noticed it in the trailer for episode 9, and I think Kit's going for world-weary and worn. But it still sounds odd.
Neither Jon nor Mel have recovered from the fallout of last season. They are still hungover and shells of their former selves this season so far... it seems. Both have needed pushing and prodding to do anything.
I believe Davos will begin to suspect Shireen's fate, but he still lacks any real evidence. And we musn't forget this:

So I don't think Davos axes her anytime soon. I also believe the victory she saw in the flames with herself walking the ramparts of Winterfell and the Bolton banners lowered pertains to this battle instead of Stannis', and will count as another accurate prophetic vision.
I wish we knew what other tricks she has up her sleeve, and not everything in her repertoire necessarily requires a full human sacrifice: the leeches, the shadow assassin, the resurrection, etc. It would be great if she can make a wall of flame into the Bolton ranks!
Matt said:Didn't Davos carve her a toy that she was carrying with her when she was burnt? I bet it survived the fire and he finds it in the pyre. Red woman is in deep ****.
I feel like Mel is to integral to the 'Fire and Ice' ordeal that'll surely conclude the series. She's the audience's conduit into all of the Lord of Light stuff, and without her we don't really have anyone else to fill that roll. Sure, there's Thoros and the chick in Mereen, but they're not 'connected' to Jon and that storyline like Mel is.
I think she's to important to be offed. She's necessary for the general audience. If Mel has to explain R'hllor stuff to anyone in GoT, you can bet she's pretty much there to explain it to non-book readers too, like myself.
Oh, I definitely think Davos will find out. As I pointed out earlier in the thread:
I don't think Mel is going to survive this season. When Jon finds out what she did to Shireen, I can't see him telling Davos to not take revenge.
I don't think she brought that into the fire, and I wouldn't expect a wooden toy surviving such a blaze either even if she did somehow.
Why would Jon care so much about Shireen? Mel brought Jon back, I think rather he feels indebted to her, and I think he will be very preoccupied with other matters like the reclamation of Winterfell and re-establishing order.
Davos can act independently and just strangle the ***** if he finds out what happened, but he'll need proof, a confession from her, or testimony from a Baratheon deserter who was there.
I really don't believe Mel is going to die until she encounters Arya again. The writers haven't forgotten that prophecy -- they are already calling back to earlier seasons in other ways including that season with the return of Thoros and Beric.
Neither was Mel until last season. I find it very interesting that they introduced a new fire priestess and brought back Thoros. In my opinion, those moves make Mel a helluva lot more disposable.
I watched the episode a couple days ago (still heartwrenching). She definitely carried it with her. It was deliberately focused on (and the reason why is now apparent)
Plus Reek pointed out [blackout]a promo shows Davos finding the toy[/blackout]

Yeah they sure did! [BLACKOUT]I guess they're going to say that it survived the blaze against all odds.[/BLACKOUT] If Arya can survive her ordeal then I suppose this is nothing!
You know I checked the teaser and the two trailers the other day and didn't spot that so I'd like to see it if someone can point it out. All I saw was [BLACKOUT]the same scene of Davos in front of the burnt stake, but no toy.[/BLACKOUT]
I can't find it either. It was before the season, maybe just one of those HBO promo's for upcoming shows, but it had davos kneel down at the scene and picked up something, then it showed his face in horror.
I can only imagine it was the toy... has to be, imo... its pretty perfect.
but if i am wrong i am wrong... apologies is I am... but im sticking with it.
I don't know... seems more fitting for it to be the toy though... especially for Davos.
