Whats almost as funny as the scene itself is the thought of them going through all of the trouble to suit up again and shoot the scene in the first place.

As soon as I heard that they were shooting one more scene, I immediately wondered if it was something minimal that involved all of the characters. Because I think it was actually pretty rare to have all of them in the same place at the same time when they were shooting.

My nephew and I were talking about this scene and he told me he'd watch an entire movie of the Avengers eating in a restaurant with the main threat being a disgruntled Loki unhappy with getting the wrong meal.

Oh, I forgot to post my actual thoughts on it. Loved it. I know some think it's a stupid scene, but I think it's just so fitting and just so... I don't know... Whedon.

Love that Ruffalo is clearly trying not to crack, there's even a moment where Hemsworth looks at him and almost looses it himself - but manages to mask it by chewing more of his food (i feel bad for him after reading that EW blurb I linked to that he ate so much he almost made himself sick).

I kind of wondered where Loki was (since this obviously takes place after they've stopped Loki - Hulk has, after all, returned to Banner - but before Thor & Loki leave - unlike some, I have no problem accepting a post credit scene that takes place chronologically before something else in the movie). Me and my mom figured, Loki's probably just out of frame with Mjolnir pinning him down on the ground or something *lol*

Oh the punishment of having to sit there and watch everyone else eating and not having a bite to eat himself. Maybe that's why they gagged him with that mouthpiece because he was incessantly asking for a bit of food.

I have to say, that scene actually makes me feel bad for the folks overseas who didn't get to see it.

This was the ultimate Joss Whedon poke at fanboys who go nuts for post credit scenes.

What I also love is that since it was Tony's idea, it reminds me a little bit of Ultimate Avengers with "Tony Stark's house of ribs"

Shawarma IS awesome. Extra pickles and hot sauce, mmmmm. This movie is by no means perfect, but it is charming as all get-out, and loved Tony's Shawarma bit, because it's one of the few beats I hadn't been spoiled on. Can't wait to see the extended cut, I have a feeling that it will take care of the major complaints I have. I'll say this-- I am looking forward to AVENGERS 2!

The one thing I didn't understand is why the Schwarma's sequence was dead last at end of credits instead of right after credits rolled..Instead they showed the Thanos short clip. I think more ppl would of gotten that sequence if they did, imo....

Didn't stick around when I saw the movie the other day for the end of the credits (I thought the [blackout]Thanos[/blackout] thing was it). Just looked up the scene everyone is talking about it and it is so perfect. It plays into my favorite joke in the film and that after-credit payoff is just so perfectly Joss Whedon.

Also, I thought the villain in the mid-credits was a Skrull. Shows that I don't read enough Avengers comics, I suppose.

Because it'd be a bizarre sequence of emotions. You tease the big bad after the dramatic conclusion, not after the fun one-off comedy scene.

sorry if this has been brought up already - but is this the only scene in the movie where all 6 actors are seen together? Since Hawkeye is brainwashed early on he is not with the team for half the movie, and then Banner Hulks out so he's gone till the end, and by then Iron Man is suited up, etc. - so it seems this is the only time the entire cast is assembled - I guess that's a good enough reason to add this scene...
