The Avengers Second post-credits scene revealed

We don't know how much times goes by between the last scenes. Why shouldn't there be any time for a meal? Black Widow, Hawkeye and Cap are still wearing their costumes. The scene is only out of the straight timeline, it's like a flashback, no problem.

Exactly! :yay:

Why should it? The whole move was narrated in chronological order.

I'd find it weird if we suddenly got a scene that takes place before the last scene we saw.

It isn't weird. It's for the purpose of comedic effect. And its not like it takes place during the first scene of the film.

I think it's hilarious.

I don't know. If this really is the post-credit scene, I find it very lame.

It would have been a little bit better (but not much) if the post-credit scene and the mid-credit scene changed places.

I think two "epic cliffhanger" post credits scenes would have been too much.

Now we get one of those, as well as one that is funny. Though it could have worked if the two had switched places. Either way I don't care.

Also, by the time they took Loki to Central Park to boot his ass off the Earth, the Avengers had all changed into civilian clothes (except for Thor), patched their wounds up and had special manacles and a muzzle mad for Loki. He was shackled and gagged so they didn't have to hear his mouth (I liked that touch). Tony, Bruce & Selvig (presumably) had also made the device that transported the Asgardians home.

All of that implies that some time had elapsed between the last battle in the film and Loki's launch party, perhaps even several days to allow for the shackles and Tesseract device to be made. The World Security Council also had time to ***** at Fury for allowing the Avengers to let "the war criminal Loki" go back to Asgard. With that much time elapsed, they surely could have sat down to a meal together after the fight before Thor left.

Though I will say I think it would have been ten times funnier if it were Hulk sitting there eating instead of Banner. With his tiny meal and tiny chair/table, that would have been hilarious.

It would also have been funnier if Thor finished his drink and smashed his glass on the floor, and have it immediately end after that. Though I guess it wouldn't make sense given he learned that lesson in his solo film.

I think adding the second scene is Joss' middle finger aimed squarely at fanboys and the convention of post-credit scenes. It's his way of saying, "Holy ****, I just GAVE you an epic post-credit scene, the kind you've all been waiting for. Why the hell are you still here?!?!? GO HOME!"

Thor's opinion for shawarma: I like it - another - smash - sludge. :woot:

OK, that's old (but never boring).

That is pretty hilarious and amazing. Would have worked really well in the UK considering...

shawarma's might as well be one of the national foods of young britain :funny:

I don't think it's a middle finger to anyone. It's a joke. It is also a tiny perk for the US viewers who had to wait an extra week to see the film. (There are also people in Russia, China, Japan and other countries who've waited, too, so of course a treat for them as well).

I must be getting old. I'd never even heard of it before TA.

the thor gag could work if he says, " i like this shawarma, i would like another". as he turns to the woman cleaning the diner, he knocks over his cup. thor looks down on the mug and shakes his head as if saying "not again".

It's a movie about them coming together as a family. Having them share a meal together as the final scene is funny and meaningful.

And as the final movie in Marvel's Phase One, it's nice that the final scene is conclusive and feels like the ending of a story.

Does not make sense to me, just because the only way it would work is if they did it directly after the battle. For this scene to happen post credit it would mean that Thor comes back after taking Loki on earth and they all "assembled" back together just to get some shwarma at the end. Seems like this would be a mid credit sequence with a post credit being Thanos.

This better be on the Blu-Ray when it comes out in the UK. I'll cry otherwise.

This makes sense as during the battle at the end Stark says
'Lets check out this new Shwarma place in town'

We didnt get this scene in the UK!!

Hopefully from this weekend we will. And by "hopefully" I mean, we'd frickin' better do!

So, shawarma is the basically gyros? Awesome!

The scene is absolutely 100% legit. My friends who work in projection at the theater confirmed it.

I understand why Whedon put the true "cliffhanger" scene mid-credits. Why make people wait until the end? And if they do wait until the end, then you get rickrolled...or in this case, shawarmarolled. Because we know every true fan will stay until the very end, whether they know what's coming up or not, so Whedon's having a bit of fun with those fans. Which I appreciate from a director. It shows he knows the fans (though I think the film itself makes that point much more emphatically).

Chronological order doesn't really matter that much once the movie has ended and you're into credits scenes, IMO - anything goes

Wow, that's the end scene? Maybe it makes sense in the context of the movie, but it sounds pretty lame to me.

Post-credits scene ...................... not end scene.

According to someone on another message board who saw the film, this scene got one of the biggest cheers of all. It's meant to be funny and cool.
