Indeed, but fanboys don't seem to understand this. You have 100 artists who draws MJ, yet she looks different in each drawing due the artists different styles--same with Peter. But somehow, every comic book character is suppose to look just like those 100 different pics of MJ/Peter in live action. Sometimes you hit and sometimes you miss, most of the time, this is a director's least concern.

Critics of fan boys dont get this either though.... They post pictures of 90s big haired, big boobed, stripped MJ.... I don't think anyone expects that or many people adamantly want that either.

Intact they keep talking about proportions and while i refuse to go on cbm I've not heard a single person on here even bring up her endowment

I think I'll reserve judgement on how much like MJ Shailene looks until I actually see an official photo where there is proper lighting and make-up.

Some of the downright nasty comments on here are truly beyond belief. Like most of us on here could score with a girl as attractive as that... lol

And think about it, MJ is always drawn as though she is wearing make-up... As is pretty much every female comic book character in history. Along with perfect hour glass figures.

Not just about looks and 'breasts' by the way, Jennifer Lawrence has a fantasic pair. Would tap. It's that she looks innapropriate, like innapropriately young. Creepily young. Not even for our own gratification but to protect the young teen girls who might get invovled with an older man because 'the Spider-Man film said it was okay'. Like whoever wanted her in the role must be weird because they must know so many people look to Mary Jane as a beauty icon and hiring someone who is only just legal in America is a bit weird. Myself, if I was an actor I would never take on a role if I didn't think I was adequate for the part. I can be quite bad at taking criticsm so I wouldn't take on a role unless I thought I was perfect for it. If Shailene thinks she will get no criticsm from the fan community then she must not know about comic book movies at all.

I do find it baffling that she looks much, much better in candid pictures, when not in costume, with her own style/make-up, than any time we've actually seen her filming.

Though still a bit too cutesy/'adorable little sister' for me, personally.

Those pictures prove she can sex it up, and look quite stunning, it's just a shame they seem to be toning her down in the film.

Yeah in terms of looks, she can be like MJ, but the film seems to be making her like a tom-boy e.g very dressed down. She even has red hair and curls in those photos!

You never know, this could be a very different MJ that we've haven't seen before...

If I was Sony, I'd release a official photo of Shailene as Mary Jane quickly, just to calm everyone down. There are still people out there who think the earlier non make-up pics are what MJ will look like in the film.

Looking at the recent photos, (I'm just speculating) MJ and her family are new neighbours that moved next to the Parkers. It's possible MJ and Peter become friends, but MJ fancies him even though Peter still pines for Gwen. With Harry Osborn thrown in, this smells a bit like 616 with some Ulitmate added.

yeah I just hope that side of her comes out during the film. I think thats all alot of the reasonable people are hoping for, that they DO utilize her ability to look that good. The other mean spirited stuff is unfortunately a by product of discussions revolving around this type of casting/character. thats unavoidable.
