Civil War Sharon carter A.K.A. Agent 13 - Part 1

Wow. This thread, y'all...

I've said this elsewhere, but I really want a one-shot set before TWS where it's Sharon disposing a ton of HYDRA goons while she lived next door to Steve, all the while he was unaware of her badassery. It'd be hilarious her going full-on ninja on a bunch of stooges, she calls Hill and Fury to help dispose of the bodies, and she has to deal with Steve's adorable cluelessness.

What? Just me, then?

I've wanted to write it out as a one-shot, but my own writing's pretty much taking up all my creative energy ;)
I would LOVE a Sharon one-shot of this. After Hill has driven off with the bodies, Sharon returns to the hallway to clean up the mess then Steve arrives home sees her, asks her what happened while jumping in to help her with the cleaning/tidying being the gentleman that he is.

You forgot ScarletAmerica, Romanogers and Steria. Oh, and Stucky, obviously. There were so many romantic things between them, that Staron will never be able to overpower: they're destined to meet again after so many years, Bucky is the only person on the planet for Steve with "shared life experience", Steve's ready to die, but not hurt him, saves him with the power of love, Bucky can't recall his own name, but "But I knew him" after 70 years of intense brainwashing... Oh, yes, and confirmed by Rumlow: "Your Bucky":woot: Clearly he didn't stare in vain at Bucky in chair with such intense glare. Must have thought: "I can see what's happening and they don't have a clue!":sly:
Ah, well, and Steve/his hand ship is also much more preferable. At least it doesn't make him a hopeless lovestruck girl, who can't move on from Peggy.

OMG! Hilarious.

This is the best thread ever.

You're the one that's adorable. And Steve is only clueless about women and pop culture.

And an awesome SC one-shot adventure? All things are possible through fan fiction. (I wouldn't hold my breath for MCU though. You'll get a Black Widow or Hawkeye solo movie first...lol)

People whom hate sharon shall get time machine and went back to 1966 and prevent sharon from even been created LOL all these hate on sharon has become ridiculous. Just like cursing whole MCU's source material

We'll never agree on this. Cap was the driving force of the entire story in TWS and every character's main arc was in relation to their interaction and relationship with Steve and or Steve's decisions. Even Fury's interactions with Pierce at the end are Steve driven since it's Steve's decision and plan to bring it all down. That Pierce has a relationship with Bucky or that Nat has a relationship with Fury doesn't in anyway undercut that their main relationship and story arc involve Steve. But to make every scene Steve centered, to make every action only in relation to Steve is to create cardboard lifeless characters.

Falcon was introduced beautifully, so much he became an instant fan favorite and someone fans wanted to see more of instead of feeling like he was shoved down their throats an wanted to see less of.

Everyone wants to see more of their favorite, including you but just because they want to see those relationships and arcs happen doesn't mean they will or that if they do those scene won't just be a couple of minutes long and subservient to a greater arc. We can still have smaller character moments and interactions between characters that aren't Steve related in a Cap movie. That doesn't make it an Avengers and not a Cap movie. When Loki had a fight with Odin or when Jane talked to Darcy or Selvig it wasn't any less a Thor movie. When Pepper was kidnapped and tortured and Tony wasn't on screen it wasn't less of an Iron Man movie. When Happy followed Killian's guy it wasn't less of an Iron Man film. And not because they're IM comic supporting characters.

In the comics Steve has had long and strong relationships with the Avengers characters as much or at times more than his supporting cast in solo books and they often spill over from one to another. The MCU is an interconnected universe and one of Steve's main qualities is his leadership role so it makes sense that he has a team to lead in a solo movie. That doesn't make it less of a Cap film than if it was a Dimension Z Cap film where he's on his own. (which I'd also love to see)
Where's the "like" button? Well said. :applaud

Yeah this level of OTT hate for a character with only 3 minutes screen time is ridiculous. I attribute it to their hardcore emotional (hormonal) desire for their fav character to ride the Steve ship.

There's a lot of projecting going on here. You personally not caring for Sharon doesn't mean that everyone else thinks she's worthless too. I would bet most think she's a perfectly nice girl who displayed great courage and integrity against Rumlow, being the first of the Shield agents to make a move which emboldened the other loyal agents to follow her lead, and that she was very cute in the "coffee?" scene.
Well, people were asking, why others resent Sharon so much and complain about her replacing Wanda. That was my take on this subject, that's all. And yeah, maybe with comparing her with civilians, she seems brave and impressive, but put her near other heroes in MCU, especially Peggy and Natasha and the difference in actress and vibes quality is too enormous to ignore. So it'd be perfectly fine with her having a very small role, but getting her shoved down our throats for no other reason, than to be Steve's forgery of Peggy eventually, - that makes some people really resent this character.
Sharon to Steve is like Lois Lane to Superman, Mary Jane/Gwen to Spiderman, Jean Grey to Cyclops, and Catwoman to Batman. M&M in an interview have said that they have wanted to bring Sharon to the Cap franchise since before the first Cap movie. :sly:
And in MCU it's Peggy. Steve was pining about her in TFA, Avengers, TWS and AoU. Deal with it.(Not like other heroes are dating with their comic-book "true love" ones. Bruce forgot Betty Ross at all) And if the rumor is true and M&M really have said, that they are happy with Steve's arc in the AoU, then they are doing a very poor job or don't undestand, what they are doing. With Staron believable "love" story they just already have missed the boat. The set up in TWS couldn't be more blunt and in AoU he still thinks of Peggy. Even if he presumably let her go, she's still the representative of love interest for him. And Steve doesn't date Sharon, doesn't think about her when saying to Bruce not to wait and reciprocate Natasha's feelings. He brings Falcon to the Stark party instead. She's still nobody for him. So, Cap will get his first date with her right after Peggy's funeral, assuming photo from set. Gross. The last Cap's solo movie, no time for developing something even a bit decent with all Civil War and Bucky's story going on, even with more charismatic actress. And even Atwell said, that Peggy would be against their relationship, Steve have to find another family. SO gross with any excuses whatsoever. I'm glad, that it's the last Cap's solo film and she's not the first female lead in it. At least we'll get the real true emotions in this movie with Cap/Bucky primary emotional arc.

And this is what I meant by premature lol. Relax, she's not gonna be shoved down your throat or come across like a Peggy replacement. These writers know what they're doing.

I just - some people talk about the kind of love interest Steve should get like she must be this paragon of womanhood. It's like that scene from Pride and Prejudice where they're talking about what makes an "accomplished woman" and list dozens of impossibly ideal standards she would have to meet until Elizabeth laughs and says women like that don't really exist.

I'm not sure that Sharon could do anything to please some people. >.> She's a beautiful, competent agent who's going to love Steve and he's going to love her back for who she is, not because of Peggy, which should be and will be enough.

Sharon be like:
Haters+gonna+hate_0dd058_3113024.jpg

then she goes and f***s her great-aunt's crush.. aww yeahh

Hey, it takes two to tango, both Steve/Sharon can't help themselves.

It is an interesting situation that morally straight and upstanding Cap finds himself in a grey area when he discovers that Sharon's related to Peggy and how Steve/Sharon deals with it.

Translation = You hate Sharon no matter what. Also, in the MCU it can be Peggy and Sharon.

It looks like comic Cap managed to get over Peggy to me. So maybe this will happen in the MCU too.

well comic Cap and Peggy was only ever really a fling during the war, not the "love of their lives" as they've made it seem in the MCU

it's definitely a bit weirder in the films than the comics

that said, still don't understand all the really ugly, blind hatred being spewed in Sharon's direction on here

So you have read the script for Civil War? Yeah, yeah, it's after two years when he didn't bother to call her, when even in AoU he thought only about Peggy and his "love" with Sharon will begin ONLY after Peggy's funeral. And of all the girls on earth he have to pick the one, related to Peggy. Yeah, he'll never admit it out loud, but subconscious projection is obvious. These writers know what they're doing indeed.:loco:
Also I recall, that YOU considered Bruce not worthy of Natasha. So, when it comes to your favorite, you want for her the best. Double standarts are such double standarts. Comic-book fans don't care about logic or ethics. They just want MCU to blindly copy comics, no matter what.
Rote, are you fan of MCU but hate the comics?
I'm fan of first Iron Man and TWS, such a great films, can't help myself. Didn't care about comics, where all kinds of stupid stuff happen, like Red Skull in Steve's body, until they began to shove it in the MCU.

People make too big a deal over the relatedness thing. Who cares if they are related? Maybe he falls for those pretty brown eyes that reminds him of someone else, then falls in love with her. That's actually (gasp) still ok.

I think Sharon haters should go away and create their own subforum called "Sharon Carter Haters." Why would you go into a character forum just to talk about how much you hate said character?

On a side note, I really hope they end up ****ing, just to spite the Sharon Carter haters. Haven't you heard? Cap likes keeping it in the family.

You're the one who's talking like you've already seen Cap 3 and how SteveSharon is gonna play out lol. Like we don't actually know when/how Steve reunites with her if it's after Peggy's funeral or before, or what they talk about that brings them together, etc. And I'm still positive he'll care about her for who she is and not because of Peggy because that's how it was in the comics and these writers consult the comics frequently, so... Just chiiiill, buddy. Everything's going to turn out just fine with Steve's love life.
And no I didn't care for Bruce/Nat because, again, it was a deviation from comics + Whedon fumbled through the writing for it so if it ever had any chance of being an appealing relationship I think he blew it. And I have a lot more faith in M/M's writing ability overall. They're also no doubt aware of people's reservations regarding the relationship and will take that into account, and do their best to make it clear what draws the characters together is not the ghost of Peggy.

You were no different the fox followers and mcu haters. Your double standard is annoying. Liking mcu but hating the source material where mcu was derived for is just stupid:loco::oldrazz:

Yeah. See, I'm no Sharon comic fan. Brubaker really did nothing to make her character stand out for me. Waid's writing is more fun, antagonistic. But it didn't make me think that she and Steve were a good match, romantically speaking.

Then, the MCU has been extremely Peggy Carter focused, and for good reason. Peggy is the character who, along with Howard, started S.H.I.E.L.D. Separate from the role in Cap's life, she is, essentially, the mother of the foundation of the MCU. Also, Hayley Atwell is a goddess and we mere mortals are unworthy of her beauty and talents...

*AHEM*

Developing Sharon in CW enough so that I am remotely interested in her character will be a pretty big task for the filmmakers. BUT I am definitely interested to see if they can help me "get" the character better than most of of the comics did. EVC did good with her small role, and I want to see it expanded further. I'm definitely staying open minded about her.

Pretty much sums it up. All arguments are: it was in comics - it's good, this was against comics - BAD!
It's pointless to explain here, that smart writers take from book canon the best things and leave out bad, dubious and questionable stuff.

Well, this thread is not named "Sharon Carter fans thread" to post here only love and rainbows. Especially when her fans come to other threads and shoves her into every coversation even when it has nothing to do with her whatsoever.
And you can celebrate already. We are haters firsthand, because we know for sure it will happen and this romance will be forced down our throats. Because this is the only reason to her existance there - to be Cap's girlfriend. That's her second name and she is known for nothing otherwise.

I'd love to see that, well at least implied that they did in a scene.

But yeah to be fair this is a Sharon Carter thread where you can discuss her in anyway that pleases anyone, whether they love her, like her, dislike her, or hate her.

Mike5575, all this "if or then" for now are just fantasies and wishful thinking. The fact remains: Sharon didn't show anything at least a bit impressive. Even the guy, who refused to comply with Rumlow's order made more impact, because he didn't have a gun, was just office worker and clearly terrified, and yet showed much courage.
And about Wanda: well in MCU for now she has much more interactions with Steve, than Sharon, he's her mentor. And has been for the whole year, that passed in CW after the AoU, as we can assume. Many people prefer Wanda with Steve, rather than the most boring and generic girl in the MCU.

Point being, with only three minutes of screen time, we have no idea just how good or bad Sharon Carter is as a field agent. We know she's an excellent shot, and it's certainly implied she is actually very skilled, being employed by Shield's Special Service and trusted by Nick Fury to protect Captain America.

The "if or then" is meant to illustrate that there are too many unknowns to come to any conclusion about Sharon and her abilities. Failing against a Captain America villain doesn't make you worthless.

There's nothing wrong with not being big fans of Sharon Carter obviously, but when you're saying things like "the most boring character in the MCU" or "she didn't show that much courage, this random Shield agent was much more brave." It's clearly something more than just a healthy criticism of a charcter. It's hate, hence the term "Sharon Carter haters."

So, Sharon Carter only exists to be Cap's girlfriend? So? The same could be said of Jane Foster and Pepper Potts, and unlike those two she can actually kick ass.

Well Jane Foster is one of the most intelligent physics researchers in the world, and Pepper is one of the most successful CEOs out there.
Sharon hasn't been shown kicking any ass yet, so you can't even say that about her. In fact, as badass as they choose to portray her, she will never be the best at what she does. And in that, she is not better than Jane and Pepper.
Just because you don't see them shooting or fighting they aren't any less worthy characters.

Both Jane and Pepper are very good at what they do, but their expertise doesn't really make them all that useful in a movie with superheroes punching things.
