Should Batman reveal his secret identity to Gordon in TDK?

  • Yes.

  • No, never.

  • Not in this one, but in the next one.

  • In a twist, have Gordon figure it out.

...so i dont think in the comics he even knows. .

He knows his identity in Dark Knight Returns. Bruce/retired Batman and Gordon are drinking buddies. That's the only instance I'm aware of though.

and then they embrace...
Dear Lord. Do they embrace and kiss afterwards?
No, and no.

My version of the whole unmasking deal was an attempt to show a reconnection in Gordon's mind, that the boy he'd helped years earlier had now returned to help him and the city in return. I meant it to be both an homage and a payoff.

I dont think gordon should ever know who batman is

No, and no.

I know, we're just messing with you. I like to mock those with more talent than me so I can feel better about myself.

But I still don't think Gordon should know.

No. Half of Manhattan knows who Spider-Man is because we have to give Toby face time.

Part of the mystique is Gordon doesn't know who he is.

Never in this movie series and NEVER NEVER NEVER in the comics.

Absolutely NO on ALL levels!

I think in order for Gordon to be credible as a detective Nolan should at hint that he has ideas as to Batman's identity. (such as him looking at a picture of bruce wayne in the newspaper while being in deep thought) For Gordon to know for certain who Batman is, however, destroys the intrigue of the whole thing.

I will add this, however. If they ever do a "police have to bring batman in" angle (don't be surprised to see it in this one), it might be interesting to see Gordon try to determine his identity (and then if he does discover it, see what he would do then.....)

No...no...no...no...no...no...no...no...no...

no twists...nothing to that extent...nothing like that...nothing at all...NO!

AND ONE MORE TIME...JUST TO BE SAFE... NO!!!

Does anyone think that they would? It was a huge deal in Year One, but now that Batman has saved the entire city, you'd think that the police would back down. Who knows though, Loeb is still Commissioner even if he isn't as corrupted as Y1 Loeb.

The sides indicate a police task force will be setup again, maybe they tolerate each other at the start but it looks like something sours later on.

:wow: :wow:

HELL NO!!!:cmad: :cmad:

NO.

But it would be cool to have Gordan hint that he knows at the end of the 3rd movie.

NO. the only person that should know is Alfred but since e went and revealed it to Rachel and Lucius is smarter than everybody else. I think three is enough.

Are you Fricken Kidding me? Gordon never knew who Batman was Not in the Comics not in the Cartoon Show not in the Old TV Show and Not even in the old Batman Movies. So the Answer is No. The Only People that should know who Batman is are Alfred and Robin if he comes into the picture later on.

The way Nolan's Gordon seems to work is that the Batman intrigues him, but moreso than that, he understands the general reason for Batman's existence and trusts him implicitly. I would think Gordon is intelligent enough to figure it out (having met Batman in person several times and of course knowing who Bruce Wayne is), but I, like many, agree that Batman shouldn't tell him and that Gordon should never focus too intently on figuring it out. It's early in the story, but Batman and Gordon have immense respect and trust for each other (at least from what we can tell on screen time).

I think even if they did set up an investigation, Gordon might sit it out, or attempt to.

No way. This should be the first ever Batman film where no one finds out, for once.

In the comics they have always teased that Gordon knows (read the many deaths of Batman to see what I mean). And in The Dark Knight Returns and Digital Justice Gordon does know. So I wouldn't mind a little tease that he knows, but doesn't let on that he does. At least not for a few movies.

Actually througout the comics (particarly since Frank Miller's great 'Year One' and a very small tidbit with the Denny O Neil stuff in the '70s) there have been hints that Gordan knows who Batman really is but he's played dumb becasue it would upset there relationship which is for the best for gotham.

Sure, it's been said by Batman himself in Hush that Gordon is too good a cop not to know. I don't mind the idea that he has figured it out, but won't mention it. Batman should not reveal himself to Gordon though, thats the difference.

In this series the only people he should reveal himself to should be Dick and Selina, should it get to that stage in the movies.

Lucius Fox knows it, I'm pretty sure. "Don't think of me as an idiot".

No. Batman revealed his identity too easily and almost for no reason to Rachel in BB. Stop that.

I think Lucius knowing is fine...it stinks that he does know. Because it would have been cool if it was just Alfred, but if you look at it, Lucius almost plays another father figure towards Bruce. Alfred and Lucius are both there to help out Bruce. Although it shouldn't be that way because Bruce should only have Alfred.

But I think Rachel knowing is fine, because I think she should die anyways lol. Kind of like in Smallville (if anyone here watches it)...anyone who finds out that Clark has superpowers, eventually dies. lol, usually in the same episode that they find out.

So that being said, Joker should
blow Rachel's brains all over the floor.
