The after credits sequence is quite popular in the Marvel movies but some could argue that it's tempting fate to foreshadow your sequel at the end.

I personally thought one of the best examples of foreshadowing was the Joker card at the end of Batman Begins.

So would you like to see seeds planted at end to set up the sequel? and if so what would you like to see?

if there is one, just make it really really sublet... maybe just the fans can notice... :)

Well, I'd be hoping for some Justice League foreshadowing, but it might be too early for that. Some people have suggested a "Joker card" type of scene that reveals Lex at the end, but I'm still holding out hope that he has a substantial part in this film.

So I'm hoping for something with Brainiac. Perhaps a mysterious machine kicks on in the Fortress of Solitude and a message comes up on a screen: BRAINIAC COMPUTER ACTIVATED.

Given the lawsuit, can they even have a sequel to this film?

I'd rather them sprinkle subtle seeds throughout the film then go all out for a cliffhanger. BBs ending was borderline, but it had the advantage of hinting without revealing much, simply because Joker is that popular. You can't do that with anyone else.

As long as it's more "leaves a calling card" and less "Sinestro preforms a shameless, pathetic attempt at fanboy lip service," I can deal.

This has got to be the all or nothing Superman movie, so no.

In a word. Definatly.

It worked superbly at the end of Batman Begins it made people want to see a sequel even moreso than they already did.

Just even a subtle hint at something that we could expect to see in any future sequel would make people more eager to see future films assuming MoS is good of course as well.

What worked great about this was that it felt conclusive to the first movie as well, making it work as a standalone if there had not been a sequel. If they can pull that off, I say go for it. Not a huge fan of the Marvel, after credits, thing, it's just gimmicky.

What I'd like to see is the film wrap up with a scene between Clark and Lois as the leave the Daily Planet at end of the day after Supes has saved the world, then the camera pans up to space and a ship with Kryptonian symbols on it is hovering over Earth.

We cut to the interior of the ship and see and alien hand resting on the arm of a command chair, then a voice says "Release the probes" and we see pods shoot off towards Earth.....The End.

Setting up this for the sequel! :D

Yes, Brainiac.

I think the Joker card worked because it was less a cliffhanger and more of a little teaser to whet the audiences appetite for the possibility of a sequel but didn't distract from the main narrative. I reckon if we do have a "joker card moment" it'll be something relating to Lex as he's the only recognizable superman villain to the GA.

I really think Brainiac is a movie 3 villain, and the second film should be somebody else.

I agree with fro that Luthor would be a good cliffhanger, though he shouldn't be the sole villain in any film.

I thought they were shooting the sequel now like they did with Donner's movies, b2b. That is why it was going to take them till 2013 to release it, typically movies don't take that long in post. Even Green Lantern didn't take that long in post, and that was effects heavy!

They can always show us a silhouetted bald head.

Nope, it's still just one movie, it's just been delayed six months for a better release date. It should still finish filming around June, was it?

Personally, if they go with the whole "Army thinks Superman is bad route", I think the best way to foreshadow would be to have Sgt John Corben fight Superman one on one (he loses) and then at some point he is given a card that says "Lexcorp" and he has got the attention of someone powerful.

I think they should leave hints for a sequel, something like the Joker card in Batman Begins would be awesome but not sure what they'd do.

This has got to be the all or nothing Superman movie, so no.

But those are not mutually exclusive ideas.

By the end of the movie you could merely suggest that Superman will have other challenges in his superhero career and not only Zod or whatever he has to face in MoS.

Very well said. It doesn't have to scream sequel. It could be just a sign of future challenges. The hero is now needed. Things have changed. And yes, that worked wonderfully in BB.

Same here. I'm glad some of those scenes happened after credits so I didn't watch them.

I'd hate Alfred visiting Perry White saying "what if I told you we were putting a team together?"

Green Lantern should have taken that long in post.

They could have stories about Lex Luthor in the Daily Planet. Just to let everyone know he is around, but not a forced, unnatural cameo for the sake of it.

I wonder if well get Dan Turpin.....if we do then it could be a great setup for intergang and say brainiac.....but there should be subtle hints throughout the movie of a sequel, not just at the end

I'd love for it to end with Luthor holding a vial of Superman's blood, being asked what he's going to do with it, and him responding "something bizarre" :) I really want to see a live action Bizarro lol

I think the ending of the film should definitely foreshadow a sequel. I loved how Batman Begins ended - Gordon presenting Batman with the Joker's calling card. It's a great nod to a popular character, and a cool moment for the fans.

For me, an ending would have something to do with Lex. We still don't know if Lex Luthor will even feature in MOS, but as he is Superman's most famous and enduring nemesis, I think it's only fair that he gets a mention of some kind. Even if it's only a behind-the-head shot of him in a crowd watching Superman perform a save of some sorts.

I'd love Lex Luthor to be a nobody in this film, an intelligent and opportunistic but still fairly lowly career criminal - much like how he was in the Donner films. And at the end of the film he comes across or finds some piece of advanced tech which was left by Zod - and learns how it works.

This logically sets up a sequel which is 2 or 3 years down the line, and Lex has rapidly built and developed LexCorp into a huge company, thanks to the alien technology which he has reverse engineered.

It also allows MOS to make a nod towards both versions of Lex which have been popularised in recent years; the out-and-out criminal mastermind, and the shady CEO of a huge corporation.

Luthor: "can we salvage anything at all, or is this entire situation going to be a loss for us?"

Scientist: "all I have left are some hard copy notes, incomplete at that, on how to clone the complex kryptonian DNA, but with how incomplete the information is we could just end up with some bizarre result if we even tried"

Luthor: "I have complete confidence in you".

The end…
