Sin City: A Dame to Kill For

We are not talking about enough info, we are talking about the imagery, editing and energy of the teaser. The first Sin City teaser was amazing. This wasn't even close.

I think it was the cameras that Robert used this time around. The effects and styles are the same, but quality of the cameras show. Everything looks flat this time around. When you see JGL's closeup against the brick wall, it takes me out of the scene because my mind is telling me 'He's in front of green screen'.
Yeah I Agree. It feels less "real" if that makes any sense considering it is a green screen heavy movie.

Loved the trailer just on the fact it featured my favorite artist.

Been waiting for this trailer ever since I heard Eva Green was gonna be in it. It was good. I wasn't blown away or anything. but seeing Eva in it was a sure thing. I hope this movie is good when I see it.

Is there a reason to be optimistic yet? And this coming from someone who is going to see it no matter what. Eva Green running around half naked is all I needed to know. :funny:

Yes. It has the same cast and crew. A fan of the first one should at least be feeling pretty optimistic right now, because of that fact.

A poorly made teaser isnt indicative of the actual quality of a film. Its just a teaser.

Rodriguez is a better director now? While a lot of the cast is similar, there are recast, and the major players are different. Owen and Willis are no longer two of the three leads. Marv's story isn't nearly as substantial either.

Frank Miller directed this film alongside Rodriguez. And Frank Miller wrote the script. This isnt a solo venture by Rodriguez aimed at kids. We all know how Miller is over his comics. Do yall really think he would stand idly by and let Rodriguez turn this into something like Machete Kills?

Do you really want to talk about Frank Miller the director? The Spirit was so bad and he hasn't written anything worth reading since... what 300? And the film was a much better thanks to Zach Snyder. :funny:

And do we really want to hold Spy Kids against Rodriguez? The first is arguably his best film. I like Planet Terror, but the two Machetes have been horrible. Same with the last Spy Kids. He just hasn't done much right as of late imo.

I forgot about Spirit. Ok maybe there is some cause for concern. :hehe:

How do you forget the Spirit? Even the trailers hurt my head. :funny:

While Sin City was far from perfect, I still love it quite a bit. It was an amazing moment in time. Lightning in a bottle. An attempt to replica something like that never works. You have to do something new, something different. The Empire Strikes Back, Judgment Day, The Dark Knight, etc. Otherwise you get Robocop 2 or T3. It doesn't help that most of this crew has very spotty track records.

Yeah, I might watch this 5 times in theaters.

It wasnt easy to forget that turd I can tell you that.

I also think the material needs to be considered here. The stories they used in the first film were just right. They fit together, and were substantial enough to pull it off. Marv's is the best imo, but the other two are engaging and keep you interested even after Marv exits stage left.

I can watch Benicio scenes over and over again. Powers Boothe is so awesome. Impossible not to cheer for Hartigan, or be disgusted by the YB. Aoki's Miho is completely captivating.

I don't think Machete Kills was all that bad, but it seems like Rodriguez has been stuck in this ''b-movie style'' rut for a while now.

I haven't seen any of the Spy Kids movies so I can't comment on those.

What about the From Dusk Till Dawn tv series that's starting soon, doesn't look all that great either.

I thought that the trailer was pretty good. One thing that immediately stood out was that Jessica Alba's dance routine looks a lot more overtly "sexy" this time around. I also assume that there won't be strategically placed smoke covering up Eva Green in the actual movie, at least I hope. The visuals looked pretty good to me, although I want to see them in the context of the actual movie. As for RR's other films.

I thought that Sin City was an excellent Noir-esque movie with some really good performances and great cinematography.
Spy Kids was really good imo. It was fun, funny, and poked fun at the spy genre in some clever ways. Plus it had Monk as a villain, that was just cool.
Spy Kids 2 was also pretty good, although not as good as the first one.
Spy Kids 3 and 4-ugh.
From Dusk till Dawn-Really enjoyable vampire movie.
Machete-Enjoyable exploitation movie.
The Mariachi films-quite good.

I haven't seen his other movies yet.

Jessica Alba is just dancing "angry" now. She is simply more jaded, pissed about what happened. The dancing in the first film was very sexual, but almost forbidden. Amped it up. Now she is more "typical" Sin City stripper.

Which is much appreciated. Work it Jessica.

I for one, can't stand Alba. I don't see why ppl think she's good of an actress. Never been a fan of her.

Dancing Angry a new film starring Jessica Alba! :awesome::o

People think she is a good actress? I though the most common feeling is that she is very attractive, but isn't a very good actress.

I was a Dark Angel fan, so the first film was something else that regard. This hasn't really had the same effect.

at least there is one reason worth seeing this movie :o Oooh Eva Green. :o

not only she can't act...i don't see why she's that hot...

sorry. I don't find her that attractive.
