Sorry, but you can't kill Morgan Freeman, he's too powerful

Honestly, I don't think you can kill Fox so early in Batman's career.

I don't agree. Batman has to start standing on his own two feet sometime or other.

IMO, if the Joker WAS to kill Dawes...then showing a picture of Joker with a knife up against her cheek a year before the film comes out...would be terrible marketing? surely?

That's the main reason I think it's b.s.

Not really. While all of us were thinking it, you cant honestly say that before this report any of us really thought they'd have the balls to go through with it. That was the first thought that popped in my head after seeing the picture, but then I took a second and realized in a major superhero franchise funded by a large corporation like Warner Bros., a film that in theory needs to appeal to all major demographics, they probably just wouldn't go through with killing off a major supporting character played by a famous actress. If they go through with it, all I will say is props to Nolan.

not really, especially to regular (not hardcore fans) audience that is...

people usually have that notion that the hero will always save the day especially a damsel in distress...

killing off Rachel would be breaking that convention...

Exactly! Only us, the obsessed minority are anticipating Dawes' death, many are asking for it.

I think it's going to be a big shocker for the general movie going audience.

Don't get me wrong! I'm not saying it would be a bad idea at all! I just don't think they will do it.

That's the point dude. Doing this will take major balls. If they pull it off, people will look at these franchises in a completely different (positive) light. The mold says the hero always saves the girl, in comic we know this obviously isn't the case. It's time film goers know this as well.

I think with the brutality WB, or percieved brutality, of Superman getting his ass kicked by Lex Luthor and gang in SR might show they are willing to take risks. That scene was noted as being incredibly painful (in a tragic good way) to watch. So, WB may actually allow Nolan to take this big of a move in the film.

Negative ghost rider.

Most people see that pic and think "good thing she's tight with a Superhero!"

anyhow, i'm all for it if that's what's planned.

i'm not going to get into an argument about it.

Well, I don't think any of us no matter how many times we hear the rumor think it would happen which would make it happening that much more effective. But really, if you are going to do it to any major character, she's the one to do it to. She has no pre-existing history living or dead in the comics (other than a minor resemblance to Andrea Beaumont and Rachel Caspian), so in theory, she's the most expendable, and the easiest to kill off without major backlash from anyone. I'd like to think Nolan wants to take chances with this franchise, and push not only the Batman movies, but the superhero movie itself into territory it's never gone into before. Killing off the damsel in distress would certainly be the first of many barriers which has never been really broken before, and, if done right, would push the franchise into emotional territory we never imagined possible in a PG-13 superhero film. Once again, if true, major props to Nolan.

yeah, i understand...

i'm only arguing against the idea that killing Rachel would not be a surprise...
i'm saying that killing Rachel would be a surprise to your regular audience...

i have NOT factored in what the "scoopers" (Anjow, Miranda, Jett, LR, Slashfilm...) have said about these so-called spoilers nor have I factored in which character is the most logical to die since that's not what I'm arguing... :cwink:

TDK might even win an Oscar for that.

The first draft was even darker (it wouldn't have made PG-13 without some editing) and had several more deaths/significantly less screen time for certain characters. Quite a powerful story. I hope it's essence remains in tact in the final film.

Can you talk about this some more when the film comes out if you're not willing to do it now? Sounds interesting

I'm a bit sad about that. :csad:

How did you read the first draft?

Sorry if this has been asked, but is this the spoiler info that was taken off of LatinoReview earlier today?
(i didn't get a chance to read it)

LR removed the story? Interesting.

But yes, it was basically the same.

yeah, it was taken off sometime after 9:30AM Western time. Perhaps they found out it was not credible?

The bit about Bruce and Batman in the same room is similar to the rumor I posted where Bruce runs into his panic room, changes, grappling hooks through the skylight and then makes his entrance as Batman through the window

Oh, I don't believe it's come from anywhere new for a second, just regurgitated rubbish. The Batpod not coming out of the Tumbler contradicts what people in Chicago have said, and the videos we've seen
