Snake Eyes is being played by...

Darth Maul was a tool, just like Count Dooku was a tool. :down

What's the big deal about Darth Maul? He was a total punk and he got Pwned by Obi-Wan Kenobi without even doing anything.

Will Snake Eyes get offed by a stray shot from Dreadnok Machete?

He was Toad in the X men too
Ray Park is some Great casting. I thought the guy was dead or something as he ain't been in a movie for a while. Whatever happen to him playing Iron Fist?

great news.

my choice for the role.

still though, its going to depend mainly on how they write the character.

if they make him talk, and take his mask off every 5 minutes, it doesnt matter who plays him, it will stink.

Doesn't talk? I thoguht he just never took off his mask.

He never talks either.

Great, great news. I hope he stays masked and mute throughout the film. Hopefully this means that his relationship with Stormshadow will be somewhere in the movie.

oh, it's cool he's in the movie but what's the use if he can't say anything?

We're going to need a GI JOE forum soon, otherwise there will be a thread just like this for every new cast announcement.

I like this casting news, so far casting is 2 for 2 for me. havent read anything about the storyline yet though

EXCELLENT! :D:up:

Ray Park has been a fan favorite for the role for quite a while now. It's good to see that they are at least somewhat in touch with what the fans are asking for. :)

Hell Yes! I approve of this casting!

And for Ray's sake i hope the movie does well enough that he gets his own spin off movie!

REALLY old school G.I. Joe comic fan here. I would say it was the first comic I officially collected, and of course, Snake Eyes was the favorite character...
But Snakes Eyes was injured during a training session with the Joes. An explosion disfigured him and destoyed his ability to speak. That's why A) He stays covered up all of the time and B) doesn't talk.
That's why casting Park is genius. He can keep the mask on, and we won't hear his voice and accent which is NOT intimidating at all. Just rewatch X-men.
With Star Wars, X-men and now G.I. Joe on his resume, this guy will officially be the most popular guy at fan conventions.

I think it's great casting, very good.

Yeah, you guys are right, I totally forgot how badass most of his characters are none of them barely talk, he's perfect.

You cant forget he was the headless horseman in Sleepy Hollow as well.

Mega awesome, perfect casting!!! But I doubt that this movie will be Snake-Eyes centered. In a perfect world to me, it would be a sweeping Ninja saga with G.I. Joe being a chapter in Snake-eyes life.

Don't forget that Park was also the Horseman in Sleepy Hollow, at least the one doing any hand to hand combat.

He was also the only good thing about Ecks vs. Sever (aside from it's amazing ability to produce unintentional laughter). He kicks butt and takes names in every movie he's in.

Very good casting choice. This should mean Snake Eyes stays masked and mute.

this also means we are probably (hopefully) will get a SnakeEyes/StormShadow fight.

Should Snake Eyes be masked the whole time though? And does this mean he will only be a minor character that does very little?

Keep in mind that Snake Eyes is the most popular character to ever come out of GI JOE. Most people are going to see this movie for Snake Eyes. So does that mean he should only be a supporting, background character? Or will he have a major role and romance with Scarlett? That to me is the most important thing. I sincerely hope they don't cop out with Scarlett/Duke or Duke/Scarlett/Action Man.

FYI, Ray Park is still a pretty young guy at 33. He could play this role for quite a while.

Also SHIN KOYAMADA as Storm Shadow/Tommy Arashikage.

Here's my bottom line: I like Ray Park a lot. I think he can do well in this role, and I hope it's not restricted since he comes from martial arts.

I do think though that people are overreacting for this casting simply because of the Darth Maul thing.

When thinking about it, couldn't they perhaps hire a better hong kong-esque person to play snake eyes who has more acrobatic talent and perhaps more stage presence.

Like a hong kong red ranger stunt man...

Snake Eyes is a white guy, and if they actually do want to make him into a real character, Park is a better choice than a Hong Kong martial artist.

Also, the dude is ****ing acrobatic. Did you not see him doing the flips and spinning air twists in Phantom Menace, X-men, etc?

The dude is a master martial artist and swordsman. At the very least we will see him doing some sword work again. I did love the little lightsaber twirl/homage he did in X-men.

George Lucas had Ray Park dubbed for the few lines he had in Phantom Menace. He got darth vadered

Yes, FYI, Ray Park didn't speak a word of dialogue in Phantom Menace.

Who was the voice of Darth Maul? Pete from Shaun of the Dead.

Also, Snake Eyes face was surgically repaired in the GI JOE comics. Right afterward, Scarlett gets shot in the head by Baroness, and Snake Eyes goes on a warpath of vengeance to find her.

So Snake Eyes face wasn't always disfigured or permanently damaged. When he was out in public though, he would wear a rubber mask with Scarlett. He was always ashamed of being seen in public with her with his real face.
