Yeah I'm thinking something like 80-90-ish million opening.Don't want to go off topic but I think Star Trek will make more than the 67.3 million opening. I can't see this movie that has been getting so much attention make less than Wolverine OW.
will have a tremendous OW Well Wolvie here got 85 million OW, so...yeah.Yeah I'm thinking something like 80-90-ish million opening.will have a tremendous OW

Well I don't know how much theyWell Wolvie here got 85 million OW, so...yeah.
Wolverine's drops over OW almost matched SM3's drops, except a teeny bit worse percentage-wise. Dunno why the weekdays suck in comparison, though. Both were released in May, so school shouldn't be a factor.
are expecting but it'd seem like well earned money for a decent movie. Whereas X-Men in the title of any movie will obviously make some bank the first weekend. That's why it seems different to me.Nah. Even X3 didn't drop more than 70%. The only recent comic book movie this happened to was Hellboy 2, and that's because TDK steamrolled it in its second weekend. Star Trek will be big, but it certainly isn't THAT big.I think the drop is going to bigger than 67%, maybe as much as 75%. I'm going from the Monday and Tuesday numbers which have dropped more sharply than I expected.
How much do you think it will make OW? *holds voice recorder 3 centimeters from your mouth & nose*Nah. Even X3 didn't drop more than 70%. Most of Wolverine's drop will be due to bad WOM or the X-men movies just not having a lot of legs in general, not Star Trek.
Exactly. I'm really looking forward to StarTrek but I would be shocked if it opened with over 85mil.Nah. Even X3 didn't drop more than 70%. It is pretty weak considering some movies make that on Friday alone.
What movie has made that much on a Friday alone? From my knowledge the only film to come close to that is The Dark Knight with 67 million on it's first Friday. Heck, only a handful of films have made 40+ million on a Friday.Spider-Man 3 made 80 million or close to it opening day I believe and 151 million opening weekend. X3 made 60 something opening day and 123 opening weekend. The Dark Knight made 158 opening weekend. Iron Man made 102 million opening weekend so yeah...it is a pretty weak opening. It isn't because of the swine flu and it isn't because of the leak. It is because the movie is mediocre.

$85 million for a solo flick is actually really good. Wolverine was lacking his team from the X-Men films, so for people to actually go see him in his own film minus most of the X-Team, I think $85 mil is pretty darn good. And I think it's kind of unfair to compare movies like Spidey and Iron Man to X-Men considering they have taken a great deal more money in their Box Office runs, especially Spider-Man which has made like double what the X-Franchise has brought in.
Uh... yeah they are! Come on... Indiana Jones is a classic franchise beloved by generations so of course after 20 years the new film would open like it did. Iron Man and Transformers did NOT open over 100 M. Shrek is an anomaly. How many animated films open as huge as the last two have? None. Not even close. These films aren't the norm and studios are lucky if they ever get franchises like these. Please... you guys talk like this happens all the time. Newsflash: It doesn't.
I don't see the point in arguing this any more, considering the film has been considered a hit and Fox is movie forward with the sequel and the Deadpool spin off.
