What do mean biased opinion? I've just said I want Star Trek to do well, I predicted it will get 70 million OW.

See, you are trying to twist my words and mug me off. Don't even bother.

And I didn't say no one cares did I? I said no one that I know cares. Wow, hyperbole or what? All I've really said on the matter is that I don't think it will be massively popular because simply it is "Star Trek". Nothing to do with the quality of the film.

Seriously, stop giving it the lemon because you ain't gonna get no where.

Infact, I think you are just a big Trekkie or something, trying to validate your opinion by trying to mug me off. Well, it ain't working.

I cant believe Im going to have to address this on a third grade level...

When someone says "no one I know cares about...." they are implying that it is a general consensus that no one cares. That is the reason why that phrase is used...to sum up public perception. You use it and then run away from its meaning pretty darn fast!

Since you will never admit to that generally accepted fact of speech, let me rephrase myself.

Your friends opinions do not match the bulk of the movie going public, as this movies success has shown. Your friends are clearly out of the mainstream thought process on this film.

Errr...when did I ever say they were? I used "my experience" my actual real life experience as an example of showing that I personally know no one who is interested in it.

So you think if someone says "No one I know likes this" they are implying that they think no one will like it? Errr..wha?

Again, you are talking wet.

I then made a completely SEPERATE comment about it's popularity, or lack thereof because it is a Star Trek film. Maybe I'll be proved wrong, but not yet I can't be, not off the back of a OW figure that will likely be less than Wolverine.

Oh yeah...about Wolverine...

This movie will be the first in the franchise to not top the gross of its predecessor. It seems likely to not top the second installment as well, and if the steep drop continues it wont even top the first one (though that is unlikely), making this movie a massive failure in the mind of anyone who is fair minded.

Give it up, Ace. Heretic is one of those people that likes fighting people over anything. Its not worth possibly getting in trouble for.

Or anyone with bias against Wolverine...

:D Hello!

Yea I know he loves it, and I'm gonna keep giving it to him, because he is trying to mug me off and I ain't having it.

Yeah I agree... even above 150 million does not justify a sequel and a spinoff getting green lit. I'll be shocked if all these spinoffs happen.

Ain't it over 200 million WW already though? Or at least approaching it?

How about you both knock it off and get get back on topic, hmm? No more flaming, no more trolling.

You are arguing against accepted habits of the English language. Your personal experience not only does NOT describe the general consensus, as it was clearly trying to do...it shows how completely disconnected your friends are from the rest of society...in both language and interests.

And again...the results are in...this is the BIGGEST OW NUMBERS IN STAR TREK HISTORY. That has NOTHING to do with Wolverine. This movie has Star Trek fans attending...and A LOT of people who are NOT Star Trek fans. More than ANY film in the history of the franchise. People DO care.

No Im not! Who are you anyway??

Of course, when someone is saying that people dont care about Star Trek, in the midst of record breaking opening weekend numbers, then yeah...I think i have a leg to stand on. Mind your business.

Now...to the mods...ONCE AGAIN I will try to put this thread back on the topic of Wolverine (as I have a few times already).

No, I'm English, I speak English. And that saying doesn't mean that. Me saying "No one I know is interested in it" does not mean "No one will be interested in it".

And now your saying my friends are disconnected from society? Because they don't wanna see a frickin Star Trek film? Are you serious? Do you actually think before you type? :hehe: WTF?

No, that's called defending myself. I'm not gonna let someone mug me off.

Or anyone with bias against Wolverine...

I dont have a bias against Wolverine! I LOVE the X-Men!!! I lloved X1 and X2!!

Are you actually saying that national box office results is showing MY PERSONAL bias against Wolverine????

No, clearly it does not. This is a box office thread...and the box office results are saying that this movie is a disappointment financially...and was the sole box office disappointment of the series thus far. That is not opinion, that is fact.

Unless you think i can manipulate national box office totals that are acepted by everyone in the industry.

Because I respect this board, i will not continue to argue Star Trek in a Wolverine forum.

Now...for what must be the fourth time, Ill try to put this thread back on subject...

Well I dunno, I just thought that it making nigh on 200 million in it's first week was pretty good.

It's earned back it's budget, therefore, it is not a flop or disappointment.

No, no, no...you started it. And you were blatanly trying to mug me off. Then you have the cheek to say my mates are disconnected from society because they don't wanna watch a Star Trek film.

Who the **** do you think you are?

You don't need to know who I am. Just know that when you try to ruin a perfectly good thread picking senseless fights with people who have different opinions, it becomes my business.
Anyway, I really think that this movie is going to do pretty well in the box office in spite of what people on here are saying. I'm still in shock that people actually voted the 50 million option! :wow: Its already made way more than that. It may not have had X3's opening, but I still think that it is enough to warrant a sequel.

Thankyou Katie

And actually, I think i voted 50 million by mistake :hehe: I thought it meant OW when i voted :D

No matter what Wolverine will probably end up with around 170 million domestically, which is nothing to be disappointed about. But, and while I liked Wolverine, I hope Fox takes note of how Paramount went about doing Star Trek and learn how to put the right elements like they used to in movies.

Well that is after just one week.

Yeah but it's not tracking that well in both columns. As this rate the US Box office will take another few weeks to eclipse 150 million. It's only at 110 right now. WW will end up with less than that. Don't be shocked if this is just under 300 million. Not much higher than that however.

No, that's called defending myself. I'm not gonna let someone mug me off.

No, it's called flaming and it needs to stop.

Obviously the big drop was expected this weekend. Anyone who didn't like the movie who wants to be happy about it, fine.

Anyone who wants to come in here and thumb their nose at people over this, not acceptable.

Anyone who loved the movie who wants to accuse people having a bias or irrational hatred of a movie, also not acceptable.

Flaming other posters over this will not be tolerated under any circumstance. Let's act like grownups, everyone.
