Really? I thought it was pretty definite what happened to her.

Well they could if they wanted to make a sequel that included both Snow White and the Huntsman.

Well, just got back. Not bad, very intriguing in some places, but, sometimes a little on the slow side in some of the other parts. Love the three main cast members, Theron, Stewart and Hemsworth all rocked in the respective roles. I have mainly two gripes, one, the pacing and editing, is sometimes, off.
And, I thought the whole William character was a waste, they just should have had Hemsworth character be William grown up.

Yeah not sure where they could go with this for a sequel. Not sure it will make enough to justify a sequel anyway.

I mean if:

Ravenna were to come back what will they do with that? I mean, the story just felt very final here. Not sure how they could do a sequel without it being contrived or forced.

Warhorse actually made a good point. They could've effectively merged William and the Huntsman by having Erik be her childhood friend. He could've been a commoner she was buddies with. And when they meet again they don't recognize each other at first and then slowly figure it out.

There we go warhose, 5 star script notes right there ;) .

Well, from what I recall from interviews with the producers(?) a few months ago, the sequel(s) would follow the Huntsman through other re-imagined fairytale stories, since many Grimm fairytales often had a Huntsman-esque character in them (I believe in Little Red Riding Hood, he was called "The Woodsman").

I'm actually glad they didn't do that. While I agree William could've used more depth, I liked the contrast between him and the Huntsman, and I also enjoyed seeing a lovelorn prince with teeth for a change.
On top of that, I like that the movie ended with her getting the crown rather than her picking a husband, because the story's not really about that.

Too bad we already had a little red riding hood re-imagining that failed.

well the producer said the films would be a series of films not a trilogy

series of film = batman
trilogy = lord of the rings

They claim that the Huntsman will find his way into other Grimm fairy tale stories in future flicks. Basically that huntsman is THE huntsman that's always featured in those stories.

That would be kind of odd if the Huntsmen finds a different romantic interest in each film.

I'd give it a B+, I hope it does well on its box office and video run..

I've never seen any of the Twilight films.. Is it me or does Kristen Stewart manage to look sullen even when she's smiling? ;) But the filmmakers seem to have made the right choice..

..so Snow White's affinity with animals is due to the sprites? Hmm..
.. I was wondering if there was going to be any deeper exploration with the drug-trips from the exploding poppies.. heh.. 8)

..The evil queen gets a nominal backstory, hmm.. would have been interesting to see much more of it, before she becomes a killer golddigger..

Hmm, did Chris Hemsworth do this before or after Avengers? In any case, good job here, though I'm not sure what kind of accent he was occasionally trying (Scots?).. The William character was kind of boring, Hawkeye-skills notwithstanding..

The magic mirror... black voice?

apparently the dwarves' stature was achieved with CGI/FX, how do "real" dwarf actors feel about this trend?

...no dragons in the film? Denied! Great glass-shard monster, though..

he could be the James Bond of Grimm's Fairy Tales. "Who will he sleep with this time?" can be the tag line.

Hmm, did Chris Hemsworth do this before or after Avengers?

He did it at the tail end of The Avengers. I think he had to split his time early on in September between wrapping that movie and starting on SWATH (he was shooting SWATH when they shot that last scene in NY, since he's obviously wearing a blonde wig there).

I'm actually surprised at how fast this movie came together, in terms of shooting and post-production. Of course, Universal and Relativity were in a grudge match with this and Mirror Mirror... but still, with a shortened post-production window of 3-5 months (especially this CGI-heavy), it looks very impressive overall.

I'm glad this movie did well. It wasn't perfect, but I don't think it deserved the tepid response it got from the critics. This was a much better film than MIB 3 that was nothing but a typical summer movie and didn't really do anything spectacular (although I did like the movie don't get me wrong).

But as I said before, please no sequels! I would like to see this team of writers and producers to other Grimm fairy tales, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, etc.

A lesson for Tim Burton. THIS is how you re-tell the classics!

They can always stick The Huntsman into the Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella stories etc

I have always enjoyed the various revisions of Grimms' Fairy Tales
Some have been comedic, or playful and erotic like the Zenescope Entertainment
series of comic books
In this latest version from writers Evan Daugherty,John Lee Hancock and
Hossein Amini and directed by Rupert Sanders Snow White and the Huntsman
is definitley the darker almost humorless version of the ages old tale.

I love that the film provides a good backstory for the evil ,youth and immortality
obsessed Queen Ravenna (Charlize Theron)The film holds on to much of what has made
the tale of Snow White enjoyable, from the inclusion of the prince (Sam Claflin) the seven....
well make that eight dwarves portrayed by Bob Hoskins, Ian McShane, Ray Winstone, Toby Jones,
Eddie Marsan ,Johnny Harris,Nick Frost, and Brian Gleeson with the help of some flawless SFX
Mainly known as Thor from Chris Hemsworth provides the same likeable big,,brave, bravado persona as
Eric the Huntsma. Even Kristen Stewart as Snow White is able to shelve her dour, discontent, scowling for
most of the film.
But Theron steals every scene she's in..A stunning ice cold performance whether stealing youth from maidens or scolding her
creepy brother Finn (Sam Spruell) i couldnt take my eyes off her.She looked quite comfortable sitting on the throne.
The film is beautifully shot, from the Dark forest to the Sanctuary, home of the fairies,a scene so vividly stunning
I almost wished it had been shot in 3D

Some characters have great introductions, but slowly fade away into the background. The story does lag in some areas
and i had hoped for a more epic battle at the end of the film.
Snow White is a very good and nowhere near the campily bad 2011 Red Riding Hood flick
If more films of legendary Fairy Tales are going to be done in this fashion bring em on !!

Scale of 1-10 an 8

Glad to see it got a strong opening, it'll be interesting to see where they go with a planned sequel.

I saw the movie twice, one with my sister at midnight and one with my mom on Saturday. I didn't fall asleep on the film at the midnight showing so that was a decent sign that I liked something about.

The movie doesn't explain the magical rules of the world very well and is a little slow going on certain parts but dammit I liked it. It was entertaining, had good special effects and had Chris Hemsworth and another hot guy for me to drool over. Sure it's not special but it's a likable extremely flawed film. I don't know how it will hold up for me even a year from now but how can I hate a movie that has Hemsworth charming the **** out of me once again and Theron over acting like a mofo? I mean it isn't a good film to me but I had fun so **** a proper review for now.

Rating: 7/10

The second half is better than the first and I personally thought that Stewart was decent. She has things in her actor bag of tricks that I don't like but I didn't have a huge problem with her in this film. Guess I'm just not on the hate wagon when it comes to her. It's summer blockbuster and I had fun so whatever.

Somebody after the movie was over who recognized some of the actors that were the dwarves was like, "damn, we're even outsourcing our dwarves to tall people now." I await a Peter Dinklage protest.

Decent movie but grinds to an absolute halt in the middle. I think a nodded off in the middle of the movie.
