I wonder if they did that to rub it in Viggo's face that he passed on this movie and now it looks to be a major blockbuster, lol.

Viggo passed on the movie? Didn't know that, just thought they originally had him in mind when the Huntsman was supposed to be an older man then scrapped the idea.

Yeah, I believe it was FilmNerdJamie who said a while back that they were in talks but couldn't come to terms; Viggo, I believe, wanted more money than they were willing to give him.

At the time, I was like "Meh, I can't blame him... this movie sounds stupid." But now, after seeing the trailers, I think he made a mistake. Still, I'm okay with it because Hemsworth looks awesome in the role.

That's true. But there are plenty of things sound stupid on paper that will turn out to be exactly that. Like that Hansel & Gretel movie. Perhaps once the trailer is released, I'll be singing a different tune but... I just can't see that being good, despite the presence of Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton.

I agree absolutely.

As far as I know they wanted the Huntsman to be a mentor, a father figure, when they asked Mortensen. Had it been so, it would even more look like a new LOTR with a new version of Aragorn. So I'd go rather for a young action hero, and for Hemsworth of course t:.

I'm glad they went this way because I think exploring more of a romance between Snow White and the Huntsman is more interesting and it's a nice twist. Like say in Fables which has Prince Charming as an philandering cad and Big Bad Wolf is the noble hero that actually truly loves and cares for Snow White.

Unfortunately, Prince Charming is still in this movie, so they probably won't explore any romance between Snow White and Huntsman.

huntsman was never love interest in the script to my recollection

and prince charming in the script is'nt like the prince charming you remember he is'nt saving some damsel in distress

I hope you're right, because like you said it'd be a wasted opportunity if they cast Hemsworth but not have any romance between him and Stewart's Snow White. Besides, what's the point of putting Huntsman's name in the title of the movie if he is just a glorified supporting character, anyway? He deserves to be one of the leads, and therefore he should get the girl.

well he is probably in the title because he does alot lol

he saves her from the queens goons when he was told to hunt her down

he trains her in the skills of fighting to take down the queen and goes into battle with her

dont think he needs to get the girl

especially since

but that could of been changed

Yeah, he may not be a villain, but could be something supernatural based that someone concocted in order to break the queen's reign. I think he's fighting alongside the good guys in the trailer, ain't he?
