So, does ANYBODY actually like Ultimatum? ... at all?

Do you actually like Ultimatum?

  • I would rather vomit in a cup and drink it then re-read this mini-series.

  • It's been pretty bad, but I've read worse.

  • I don't care about it either way

  • I actually like it, probably due to missing 65% of my brain mass

Guys guys! Why are fighting amongst ourselves, we need to be fighting our common enemy: LOEB! Lol:woot:

And anybody that knows me online knows that I'm all for heroes killing villains, but Cyclops blasting Magneto in the face at the end was so ridiculous.

Frankly, I find Magneto's death to be the only thing that makes sense in Ultimatum. His actions made him irredeemable to where he deserved it and after all the X-Men he has killed, it would make sense for Cyclops to do such a thing.

I get why he had to die, I just don't like how cool everybody seemed with it. It was a pretty violent death too, not like Wolverine just stabbed him.

Considering that Magneto was responsible for the deaths of Xavier, Wolverine, Beast, Angel, possibly Havok, and Nightcrawler, along with the Academy of Tommorrow, the X-Men should be pretty cool with his death. I mean he pretty much killed their family, members of their own species, and turned public sentiment against mutants so badly that they will pay dearly for it.

Nick Fury will be cool with it because he's ****ing Nick Fury.

'Nother thing I don't get is that Fury brought down Mags simply by having information to use in case any of these people really ****ed up. I'm pretty sure Magneto has ****ed up more than enough in the past that Fury should've, and could've brought him down that way. Was killing thousands by blowing up that bridge way back when not enough to tell him a few truths and end his crusade?

Worst. Villain. Take Down. Ever

From what I've figured, read and seen, most people who hate it hate what they're doing to the characters. And that it's Loeb so it's automatically awful.

Except they're the Ultimate versions of the characters, not the 616. Pissed the Blob at Wasp? Ultimate Blob was more of a masochist cannibal in UU than he was in 616, so it fits the charactization. The writing is, for the most part, better than most things out. Dialog is almost always spot in for the ultimate character. The problem is, a lot of people don't read Ultimate Marvel, and yet will continue to talk about Ultimatum without actually reading it, or the lead-up's to it.

Ultimate Blob wasn't a masochist/cannibal. The worst thing he's done is impersonate an underwear model in an online chatroom. Loeb wrote the ultimate characters as 616 characters, or xtreme versions of such, thats what pisses people like me off. Pyro was a shy nice guy member of the X-men. Loeb made him a psycho member of the Brotherhood who liked rape.

Thor never talked in "thou"s or "verily"s until Loeb got a hold of him.

Theres also the horrible continuity errors. Such as Doom being in the Ultimate Universe. They still haven't explained how he got back from the zombie universe. And the whole Cap is alive, then suddenly next issue he's dead with no explaination. Hulk was intelligent as of the last Millar/Hitch issue of Ultimates, but suddenly "Hulk is Hulk". How did Magneto not know about Humans creating mutants as his parents were part of the project? Quicksilver helping manipulate Magneto into declaring full out war on humanity seems out of character for someone who was against Magneto's ruthless tactics to the point of defecting to the Ultimates.

I think my biggest problem with Ultimatum, was killing off the characters that were actually interesting parts of the world. They made Dazzler useful and somewhat interesting only to kill her off. Nightcrawler as the leader of the Morlocks was such a perfect fit and I wanted to see it play out but no. Bringing Beast back like one storyline earlier back in his superior human form only to kill him off again. These were un-needed deaths. I would have killed Angel and Colossus in place of Dazzler and Nightcrawler. Dazzler's rage and Nightcrawler's guilt over his treatment of Colossus before his death would have been interesting routes to take.

I avoided the Ultimate/Supreme Power crossover like the plague but it seemed like Fury has been "somewhere else" for a while.

Well said man, that pretty much summarizes everything thats wrong with Loeb's molesting of the Ultimate characters. I just dont understand why Millar and Bendis didnt put Loeb in his place and correct his mistakes. Are they afraid to confront him because he's Jeph Loeb??

It is because of this series that I gave up on the Ultimate line. I had read it from day one when it came out. It has been the worst thing to happen to this set of comics. On a positive note though I have come back to the 616 universe.

X-men never really got good until they hammered out the whole Xavier/ Magneto Dicotomy...

In some ways X-men really wasnt that good until Magneto was explored as a character.

Im speaking 616 of course, but it makes this whole Ultimatum magneto all the more a violation and travesty.

I'll give Millar's Avengers a shot, I am guardedly optimistic about it, mainly becuase I think it will be good but as per usual, delayed as a heck.

Ultimate Spider-Man and Ultimate X-Men where the main reasons for me getting into and now collecting comics 6-7years ago.

It's sad that the Ultimate Universe has come to a massive kill off.

I'm not really sure how it will carry on, could be brilliant or could slowly and painfully die off. Tho I do hope it gets back to been good again.

That's the pot calling the kettle black. I know people who are proud they served their country. Proud to have their first child. Have not heard anyone proud to not being reading a comic book. Way to go, skippy.

Fighting for the sake of fighting much? Jeez, let it go.

I was flipping through #5 today...

...my god, somebody was killed off at least every page. The title really should be "See how Jeph Loeb Can Kill Nearly Every Ultimate Universe Character in Five Issues".

You made a BLATANTLY WRONG and ignorant assumption about me and then harped on your OWN IGNORANT and insulting ASSUMPTION for 3 posts in a row. THAT'S why you're a smug ignoramus.

Sorry, but having an opinion doesn't make me smug or ignorant. Prove I've made a stupid and insulting assumption like you, then you can call me ignorant.

I liked it but I only read it in Ultimate Spider-Man.

im pretty sure this pretty much already happened and it was called "Punisher kills the Marvel Universe" except it was cooler, and surprisingly made more sense.

you know somethings wrong when "Punisher Kills the Marvel Universe" makes more sense than ANYTHING...
