Solo Solo: A Spoiler Thread

She’s not listed in the IMDB credits yet, but I think we finally have a winner for just who exactly is playing Enfys Nest... Erin Kellyman. There are leaked photos of Enfys Nest without her mask going around, and Erin is a perfect match for what’s in those images.

I saw the leaked image on Reddit yesterday, I compared all the people who were mentioned in the comments, and I'm pretty sure this is the one. She's the only one that the nose really matches. I'll look when I see the movie tonight.

For anyone who's seen the movie, is the actress listed in the credits?

It seems weird that they would credit Darth Maul, but not Enfys. It doesn't really matter if her name leaks out, because she's never played anyone in Star Wars before. If Maul's name were to leak out, it would reveal a major spoiler about a returning character.

Yes that is Enfys.

I thought Maul's cameo was very awkward.

So like Rey he has no last name either. Are some people just born not knowing their own family names?

Not every culture on Earth has 'family' names, perhaps it is the same out there.

Quite a few people are going to be really confused about Maul. But, I am glad that they established what he was doing between TCW and Rebels. Makes sense to me.

With all the deep dives into Star Wars lore, I was expecting Enfys Nest to mention Fulcrum.

Enfys Nest is definitely Erin Kellyman, turns out she was credited after all.

The other day I complained about Enfys Nests being a teen girl. Turns out, I actually ended up decently enjoying the character. Their little team up a the end was one of the parts I enjoyed more. Honestly, I kind of wish they had done her face reveal early on, and just made her the female lead. Or maybe not, maybe her limited screentime made her more interesting. Either way I thought she was a more intriguing character in her ten minutes of screentime than Qi'ra was in the entire movie.

I still stand by what I was saying the other day, at least as far as the marketing goes. I think building her up as this big bad pirate/gangster/bounty hunter in the trailers for months and then revealing she's a teenager was dumb. There's probably going to be a backlash, and this poor upcoming actress is going to take the hate. They should have just revealed her face in the promo material, I think knowing who she was ahead of time actually improved the character for me. People who are expecting some tough Boba Fett-esque character are going to be very mad.

I am not sure about that. Because he clearly knew his father. It seemed more like a rejection of his name then anything.

You dooonnn't saaaayyy...

There's a lesson here about open-mindedness in the weeks before a movie's even out. Goes for any film.

I didn't like the teen twist, but I didn't know about it beforehand.

Am I the only one who kept thinking about Die Hard every time someone said "Crimson Dawn"?

I enjoyed the movie.

Still on the fence on Maul. Like I've watched TCW/Rebels so I known he's been back for a while...but I feel like its too jarring for the average casual SW fan

Maul is a setup to be in Obi-Wan’s movie.

Just hope they get their own cinematic duel ignoring Star Wars Rebels.

And Han and the Gang will be back for the Boba Fett movie.

They can't ignore Star Wars Rebels. If the idea is to set up Maul to appear in Kenobi's films, they have to set up a workaround that it doesn't happen on Tatooine, and their encounter is elsewhere, and it doesn't end in death. It has to end with Maul getting stranded on Malachor for several years.

The Maul reveal was the absolute most glaring issue with this film. Fan service in carnet, and it actually makes things much worse.

I don't watch the cartoons, I don't read the books anymore... but the idea that Maul is alive is completely unnecessary and counter productive. If Maul were still alive, why wouldn't he reconnect with the Emperor? The Emperor would undoubtedly sense him, and try to bring him back in the fold. He's alive for one reason: he's a cool looking character that fans liked. That's the wrong way to go.

Even if we ignore the multiple times Story Group said that all movies, cartoons, books and comics are canon, if they don't ignore TCW (by resurrecting Maul) it's unlikely that they will ignore Rebels (obviously they can ignore both TCW and Rebels and think of a totally new way for Maul to survive).

You can hope that they will ignore it of course but I don't think they will.

See the fact that you don’t watch the cartoons or read the comics is the red flag right there. And negates your whole reasoning that he’s just around “to look cool”

So, because I don't watch a show for children or spend money on a hobby I don't like, I can no longer have an opinion about the movie series I've loved since I was 8?

The fact that the movies become dependent on the cartoons demonstrates the problem. The fact that they are regurgitating fan favorites just to appease fans is the wrong way to go. Make new characters... don't rewrite old movies just for a big applause moment. Enjoy your fan service if you wish, but let's not pretend that he's being brought back for narrative reasons. That's clearly not the case. And call me old fashioned, but a natural, cohesive narrative is the most important thing when trying to make a good movie; not candy for fans.

You can have an opinion of course. And you’re basing it off of not having read or watched anything outside of the films. Which is also fine. But he is not just around because he looks cool. Phasma is more so just there because she looks cool. Maul isn’t. But again you wouldn’t understand or agree because you’re limited to just viewing the films. And that’s your choice

If I can't understand, because I don't watch the cartoons... then that's a problem. And you're right, I do disagree. It causes way too many problems to believe that maul survived being cut in half and falling down a 100 ft shaft.... while never reconnecting with the Emperor. It just leads to more questions... all for the sake of bringing back a character who never needed to return... besides his fan appeal that is.

Agree to disagree then I can’t continue this. It will just go in circles over and over. I’m just gonna say you should watch Clone Wars and Rebels. And also read Darth Maul: Son of Dathomir. :word: Thats where I’ll end this.

I appreciate your response and your view on this, but no thanks. I watch Star Wars to have a fun escape in the theaters. I'm not going to twist my life around to take in all Star Wars folklore. I shouldn't need to. The movies are my blueprint. If there's fundamental backstory in the comics that I need in order to enjoy the movies now... well that's gonna get old real quick.

I agree with this. I said it in another thread, but you shouldn't have to keep up with tie-in material to understand a feature film. If that were the case, they could engineer this stuff in a way so that we have to literally buy every novel, comic, cartoon, game, and toy package to understand the movies. Relying on tie-in media cheapens the movie.

I will say it was good that they showed Darth Maul's robot legs. It still raises a lot of questions though.
