Personally, TDK was so dark, haunting and depressing that I don't think I could watch a darker movie. I absolutely LOVED TDK, but it left me emotionally drained and spent. I think the next one needs to take a bit of a different direction, for variety's sake, if nothing else.
Something between BB and TDK would be good for me.

And R-rated? I can't see Nolan wanting/needing that after TDK's accomplishments.

To top or match TDK Nolan needs:
-Themes of revenge, justice.
-Stakes as high as the chaos or order of Gotham.
-Something extremely personal.

The League story line is done and Ra's is dead. Leave it at that. Bane is not that great of a villian either.

What is with these kids wanting lame *** villians? All the little fanboys in the Spider-Man forums call for Venom to come back...WTF!? Don't you think a great classic villian like Catwoman, Penguin, Riddler, etc...could be used instead of bringing back the villians from the first movie

That's because he's not dead. Harvey Dent is dead. Now there's only Two Face. Honestly I believe TDk did a bit of a job on the minds of a lot of people here who suddenly believe that there shouldn't be another batman film. I think Nolan can and will top the TDK with the 3rd.

What they do need though is an unrated DVD version of TDK, that makes perfect sense.

The marketing department for WB Canada were reviewing the marketing campaign for TDK, seeing what worked and failed etc.. Long story short, they received the email sent out by Nolan to the company.

Nolan is pushing for R-rated film and a female villain. He wants it really dark and violent. As for the female villain, he wants her to be vicious. WB may give him the green light on the R-rated film, depending on the boxoffice take.
