This was what Sony was proposing for either the next entry in TASM franchise or a reboot/soft-reboot.
Okay, that's a relief.
And it's been done to death. Time for something new and fresh.
I think the person who comes out with the most credit is Alan Fine who is 100% spot on with all of his comments.
But like Fiege himself said in the emails, you shouldn't change who Spidey/Peter is just because it's been done before!I mean, do you seriously want a Spider-man movie without Aunt May?

Sony executives going over footage

Re: Footage
at 10pm susan called me and said her team had not heard back from bea or editorial...matt said bea and susan's team did connect but that they just asked for the scene to be put on pix for db which is obviously beside the point if we can't use it...

Be careful with that...
It looks like in these emails all that Sony was trying to do was new and fresh.
Bringing Miguel, female Kraven, etc. Something new will likely get a handful of CB fans upset. No matter how good the change is, or how irrelevant it is, or why they did it. (e.g. I doubt F4 changed the human torch's skin color for the reason of changing his skin color, the actor actually fits as human torch pretty well, similar personality.)

What the f?

But like Fiege himself said in the emails, you shouldn't change who Spidey/Peter is just because it's been done before!I mean, do you seriously want a Spider-man movie without Aunt May?

I'm wondering though. Do they mean literally no Aunt May or just not giving her an unnatural and forced sub-plot like ASM2 or if she exists, but just isn't present for the story of the movie?

I wanna Daltonio's opinion on all of this.

You mean the only guy cheerleading for Avi? lol

Sonys plan for money making

Step 1:Research on google
Step 2:?????
Step 3:Profit

As I did with brooks barnes, I denied we are in any negotiations with Marvel about licensing Spider-Man back to them. He is NOT writing anything right now.

:funny: Don't be too sure about that. Trank liked working with MBJ and wanted an excuse to work with him again -- enter F4.

That, and Trank revealed his family is mixed so I'd say Human Torch's race was changed for the sake of change.

Okay, that's a relief.

You can imply she is in the universe but choose not to focus on her.

Yeah, as much as I love Aunt May, it'd be nice to get away from Peter's personal life and focus on the alter-ego this time around. Not that I don't enjoy seeing both Peter and Spidey, but if I had to pick one to focus on, it'd be Spidey -- at least for his first film.

I can already guess we'll get Spider-Man and not Peter in both Civil War and Infinity War, anyway.

Surprisingly, not a bad idea. Though every time I hear about a possible Uncharted movie I'm going to mention that I think they should just use the same actors as the game, use the same mocap techniques they use for the games scenes and up the graphics if need be. For my money those games are practically cinematic already (because one part great writing, one part stage trained actors imo).

On a side note I'd also maybe do something similar for a Legacy of Kain film series.

Anyway, back to Spidey. lol

Spider-Man Sinister Six Ideas

yep…it happened really naturally yesterday. mostly cuz we all love it and believe it. it was a really good meeting…

i'm on top of what's out there. let's talk about who's gonna run point on your side -- skip called me bro, no time for any of the gray. we need a real team, with clarity about who does what.

i'm with you on the third act. drew's anxious that we'll get tired of the island. i'm not so sure. and we didn't talk about it, but the idea was for there to be people on the island in the facility where
ock did his work. so it's not just our gang. emotionally it's ock's movie, and his over-reach is gonna pit him against spidey in the end (sam got that right…but this has to feel different!).

i talked to him yesterday about my needing to build the movie while he writes it. that's vfx, line producer, key crew, location decisions, and likely some casting (even if not final). he knows it. if we wait til december, we'll end up spending more and making a less good movie. so that can't happen. it's gonna mean SOME discomfort on both sides, cuz i won't be able to give people pages etc, and we'll have to make some decisions based on what we know he's doing. i'm gonna talk to him today about an outline. drew boards and maps everything before writing, so i'm not worried about that…

space time is a HUGE help to us. and like you said, we get to own that. will help us with where we need to go in the 2nd and 3rd acts.

finally the budget. i hear you and we'll do it. i talked to frank about meeting with kathy asap. we have to be ruthless about how to get this done brilliantly…without spending the farm. my gut is that the island will help us…but i'm not gonna start bs'ing about that. we need a great supervisor, and i'm gonna get into that with andy now.

it was a big step yesterday -- talking about "moving forward" etc -- and i feel like we might have a little wind at our backs now.

talk in a bit. xxoo

Here is our preliminary buzz report. We are getting the full report
tomorrow morning which will include the percentage of positive to negative
buzz.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 - Super Bowl Ad Part 1 Buzz Report

The "Will-She, Won't She" dialogue is in full-force. Lots of debate on
the fate of Gwen. This is the number one topic of discussion right now.

Since its launch, The Amazing Spider-man Super Bowl Ad Part 1 buzz has
been high in volume across social media, cinephile, and comic book sites,
along with YouTube. Broad entertainment sites are beginning to pick up
the spot as well. Overall tone is positive/neutral, with main topics
being discussions around whether or not Gwen Stacy will die and general
excitement for the film. There is are also excitement over the Super Bowl
itself this Sunday with many stating how this finally gave them a reason
to watch the big game. A tertiary topic (lower in volume) is conversation
around possibly spoiling the fate of Gwen Stacy. Moviegoers are worried
that we may give away the fate of her character in the Super Bowl Spot on
Sunday.

Also great news is compared to past reports, we are seeing are far less
negative discussions around the CGI.

- It looks like she is already dead. (JOBLO)
- ...I seriously don't think Gwen is going to die in this movie. I mean,
who spoils the death of a major character in a commercial for a
commercial?? It'll be a classic bait-and-switch. Tease the iconic death,
get the fanboys all whipped up in a frenzy, but when the movie finally
comes out, she either doesn't come close to dying, Peter saves her like
any other time, or the film ends on a cliff-hanger where she looks like
she's about to die. But in any case, I have a feeling the death will
happen (JOBLO)
- This looks pretty good. I hope I'm not disappointed. They are hinting at
Gwen's death, but there is no buildup for the Goblin. They may be shaking
things up and going off canon. If it's well done, I'm OK with that.
(SUPERHEROHYPE)
- I don't want Gwen to die. Can't there be one world, one universe, where
Peter and Gwen get a happy ending? The two of them are so great together.
(SUPERHEROHYPE)
- That Gwen outfit at the last scene...uh ohŠ (SUPERHEROHYPE)
- Well damn, now we know how she dies. (SLASH FILM)
- Great TV SPOT!! I¹ve had some reservations about this film but I¹m
liking what I¹m seeing, even though Sony is sort of spoiling it already
(SCREEN RANT)
- When I first saw this, I was like, "O GOD NO GWEN PLEASE DON'T LEAVE
ME!" But then I thought a little more. Why the hell would they basically
show us her death in the trailer when they know that the educated audience
knows that Gwen dies and is expecting it? No, she won't die here. They
want to pull us in. She'll survive that fall and die in the third movie to
show that Spider-man can't always save her. It'd be more powerful there.
(HYPABLE)
- wow that last scene...Gwen's death maybe? (IGN)

NEGATIVE
- oh my god sony why did you show that at the end!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it
could have been a moment in which we would have thought gwen was going to
die but know now when green goblin throws her we know she will just be
saved by spiderman thanks sony (YOUTUBE)
- Dat CGI tho (YOUTUBE)
- Ugh the amazing spider man 2 is going to bother me now (TWITTER)
- Spider Man's new super bowl trailer, way too many spoilers!! (TWITTER)
- Drowning on the cg (FACEBOOK)
- They show wayy too much in trailers nowadays (FACEBOOK)
- They need to stop slipping in more scenes from the movie. That's how
they ruined it for me in the first one. Everything I saw in the
commercials was basically like watching the movie. (FACEBOOK)
- Looks like a video game. I am getting an incredibly campy vibe. (JOBLO)
- The amount of **** going on in this film is laughable. (SLASH FILM)
- Did they really just show that? wtf man. (NEWSARAMA)
- i actually got butterflies in my gut when i saw gwen falling and
spiderman catching herŠwhy bother showing such an important part? i dont
think she will die now because they alluded to it. they gave into the fans
imo. they should not have done this. (SCREEN RANT)
