(maybe a little later) It was brought up when Peter asked her to marry him and she had to do some 'soul-searching' for a while to decide. That when we found out MJ's mother ran away with them at a young age because her father was an abusive drunk.

Ive wanted to play as Black Cat in a Spidey game for years (since she showed up in SM2) but I dont feel this is the place for it, especially with the focus being on the 2 Spidermen. Maybe in a future game that takes place exclusively in the present day universe and on his life. Black Cat side missions here seem like they would really be out of place
