I'm currently watching Cougar Town. No, it's not a Porno.

Ehhh, I'm no a big fan of Scrubs, lol. The comedy never really hit me like it did others, but hey, I guess everybody has a diferent taste in comedy, lol. I loved That 70's Show.

Oh I love That 70's Show as well! :D

There are heaps of great comedy shows without laugh tracks.... 40 Rock, The Office, Arrested Development, Curb Your Enthusiasm, My Name Is Earl, Flight of the Conchords, Bored to Death, Eastbound and Down... there are plenty of others, but with a list that big it's hard to think of them all on the spot :P

Man, how could I forget The Office!? THAT's great comedy! Especially the British version IMO.

Another favorite comedy show of mine (animated series) is Family Guy. Have always loved it.

Never got into it. I just hated the characters.

Screw all of you guys for not even mentioning Seinfeld. You're all dead to me, dead I tell you. And I gotta agree with Oscorp, almost everyone in Sweden watches How I Met Your Mother, and it was damn funny in its prime.

I don't have a problem with the jokes we've heard so far in the game, or the over feel of it. But I feel that O'Hara and Parker should just hug it out and become friends.

The only time I laughed out loud while reading a comic was during Dan Slott's Spider-Man/Human Torch mini. And that wasn't even at the jokes, more the general situations. The charm in the jokes is that they are corny, and at most chuckle worthy.

I don't know about Seinfeld, sometimes it's great (I love the short, chubby dude), but I most often find it pretty boring to be honest.

Except for that, I agree with everything you said.

Wait, Spidey makes corny jokes in this game? You mean... like he does in the comics? Shameful!

I didn't mean corny jokes can't be funny, but that one-liner of Anti-Venom being anti-social didn't seem half as funny as any of the one-liners Spidey had in TSSM. I mean, that's a kiddie show and it made this 23 year-old laugh his ass off most of the time.

But yeah, HIMYM is damn funny IMO! :)

HIMYM is a funny show. There are some jokes that have become stale throughout the series run, but it's still a great show nonetheless.

I just can't stand any comedy with a laugh track. Canned laughter sitcoms, I thought we'd moved past that.

I thought the writing would make or break if a comedy series would be funny, but never would I imagine that a laugh track would be the reason for a show to not be funny to someone.

All of those except My Name Is Earl and Flight of the Concords. Those two shows I just could never stand. Jason Lee is a funny ass guy, but was never a fan of MNIE. And don't get me started on FOTC...that show is as dumb as that Demetri Martin crap.

Another favorite comedy show of mine (animated series) is Family Guy. Have always loved it.

Here's a couple more animated series that are pure laughable: Chowder, Aqua Teen Hunger Force and Metalocalypse.

And also The Mighty Boosh...the entire series isn't great, but there are a select few, like the one with Old Gregg. And then other British comedies such as their version of The Office(the original ****!), Extras and the Ricky Gervais Show...hell, anything with Gervais and Merchant is gold.

I've been reading Spidey comics for a long time, and I can't remember anytime i've ever laughed out loud at a one liner. That's his whole thing, that's part of his charm. None of his jokes are ever clever, they'er endearingly corny.
Don't think Roger Stern made him funny?
Kissing his professor and department chairman on the forehead after seeing his final paper with an A+ on it in front of Doc Connors and then jumping out of the window

Same here. I can probably count the times I've had huge laugh out loud moments from reading comics/literature in general. A big part of comedy is delivery and that's obviously lost when you're looking at walls of text.

one of my fav. spidy jokes is in coming home the first couple of pages where he's talking about not having any pockets in his suit. great ****.

One Spidey line that made me lol somewhat recently was in the "New Ways to Die" arc a few years back. Mac Gargan was wearing a Scorpion suit that contained the symbiote. Spider-Man referred to him as the Turducken of super villains. Writing it out now it doesn't seem that funny but when I first read it I thought it was hilarious.

But for the most part his jokes are pretty corny.

Well if you're America, you've probably been raised on that type of comedy so I suppose you're more immune to it. I happen to find it very stilted and awkward, making gaps in the pacing and delivery and sucking all the natural, reality out of any comic situation. Also there's the fact that most standard sitcoms are just crap, a string of sassy one liners held together by a 'heard it before' plot.

And Flight of the Conchords might not be to your tastes, but that is far from 'dumb', especially when you compare that to the fact that Two and a Half Men has been one of the highest rating comedy shows in the states.

Btw, have any of you guys seen a show called 'Adventure Time'? My friend showed it to me the other day, and that show is funny as hell!

Ehhh, well I don't let a laugh track bother me really. If it's funny, I'll laugh, and if it's not then I won't laugh, but I won't let a laugh track "tell" me what's funny or not. It's the show/studio's choice to have one, but it's not something to change my opinion on a series. I mean, if I really cared for laugh tracks then I would have hated such episodes like "Changing Channels" off of Supernatural that deliberately made fun of laugh tracked shows.

Two and a Half Men sucks, lol. I never understood why it has high ratings because they seem like they just re-use storylines over and over and over.

Plus, as much as I enjoy randomness, Flight of the Conchords just uses randomness stupidly, imo. And I'm not even a fan of their so-called "music".

Adventure Time has been my new drug ever since Chowder was cancelled.

I think by 'randomness' you're referring to Alternative Comedy.

Adventure Time is the bomb! That show is like being on drugs.

Comedy is just comedy, so I wouldn't say 'alternative', lol. Randomness is a cooler word anyways.

And yah, I like AT. If there was a channel specifically for Adventure Time and Red vs Blue, I'd be a happy ass camper.

Well I just mean Alternative is the official term for that genre of comedy.

Dude, RvB and Adventure Time is all i've been watching for the last 2 weeks! How funny.

Yeah, one thing about comedy though, is it's probably one of the most subjective things ever. There's an audience for every type of comedy in the same way theres a type of comedy for every audience... Success is only judged by how well those two things meet :P

Ever since the season nine premiere of RvB, I've been watching it from the beginning. I just finished season two(I've been watching the seasons and then the PSA for that specific season) and I just can't believe the continuity of that web series...those guys put more thought into their story than a lot of shows you see on TV.

Yeah, it's surprisingly great story telling. I was casually enjoying them in sequence, but it wasn't until I was maybe halfway through series 6 when I suddenly realised I was really, really into all the characters.

You should listen to their podcast, the Drunk Tank. Really, really good listening. I watched the first season 9 ep. but now i'm thinking i'll just wait so I can watch them all in one sitting.

I'll take a listen to the podcast for sure. I think I'll wait until after I at least finish the five seasons of Blood Gulch though, because I'll probably want to take a break before I start on Recollections.

And season six is probably the best way to really get into it. Blood Gulch had a great story, but the writers cared more about comedy. It's not until Reconstruction where you start to feel that they're trying a more serious approach. Maybe attracting a broader audience with that.

I'm actually surprised that season 9 doesn't have some fancy name for it. I wonder if it's a sign that RvB is ending. I mean, the series has had a great run and everything, but they've been very quick with tying up loose ends. The only way I'd see them moving forward would be to create more plots.

Well I think I know why they've gone with 'series 9' as a name, but it's probably spoilerish. But yeah, I think there's a clear reason they've gone with that name (that most likely coincides with the return to blood gulch :P)

Hrm? What's the spoiler? I need to know, haha.

There was talk of having a subtitle, such as 'Return to Blood Gulch', but that was scrapped.

Well there aren't really a lot of new things about EoT at hand to talk about. :P

red vs blue hell yeah. But isn't these a eot thread.

In due time you'll realize that we always talk about more than what a thread is focused on, lol. Just visit the Dark Knight Rises (Spoilers) area for example :woot:

Haha yea that tends to happen when there is no news to discuss.
