Spider-Man: Edge of Time - Part 4

Edge of Time would have been a great opportunity to bring Gwen back. Octavius was still just a scientist, so Gwen could have survived as a result of the time travel. There could have been a great moment where Peter is put in a dilemma. Where he finds out that Gwen died in the proper timeline and he is forced to decide whether to let the changes remain as they are or return everything to normal, losing the love of his life.

^Which would also be a great way to show classic Green Goblin in a cutscene

Was Octavius not turning to Ock explained? Something like he had safer work environment and that sort of stuff?

the ceo went back in time and made it so the villains didn't become villains.

The only problem would be that this would meddle with what's going on with the CEO and his motivation. Unless letting Gwen die would cause another temporal change right before the reveal, of course.

the ceo went back in time and made it so the villains didn't become villains.

Specifically, it was Sloan, not the CEO, who did that, and I think it wasn't entirely done on purpose. Octavius would have been a great help to Alchemax, so Sloan "saved" him from his accident in order to not waste a brilliant mind and put it to work instead, but I doubt he really cared about whether Scorpion or Rhino were criminals or not.

Well, she is long dead, so what would you expect?
I don't know. They could have put her in the Spider-Man 3 game, although it wouldn't have added anything to the story. Maybe they could make a video game based on Amazing's storyline set before she died? I'm just surprised they mentioned her in Edge of Time. But it'll be cool to finally see her in a video game when TASM game comes out [assuming there is one].

So Gwen shouldn't be killed by Osborn, right?

Not really. Just because we've heard of SOME villains turning legitimate doesn't mean all of them did. After all, Anti-Venom still existed in the altered timeline, so one is to assume that the original Venom and Mr. Negative were around. And considering what the CEO tells him, Osborn and Kingpin are still criminals as well.

I think I scored this game too high in my excitement to play it, I'm bringing it down to between a 7.5-8.0/10, it hurts to do that but SD was a better game!!!:(

HAHAHAHA! I'm guilty of this too! I just didn't want to admit it. I honestly would give the game about an 8.0. I think people are being to unforgiving with the whole "environments/combat aspect". Sure it sucks that Beenox didn't have the drive to vary the experience but in all honesty, the way they've presented it works for the game they were creating.

Even though the combat was simplistic, it was still fun. The boss battles were great and the art direction was very cool. I didn't like the fact that they rehashed a lot of things from Shattered Dimensions, like the enemy types. But it's fine. Beenox is kind of a small developer and I think that's why they were able to make this game so quickly. They simply ported pre-existing things over into Edge of Time.

Edge of Time has an amazing story though! I'm glad to see that fans are appreciating what Peter David and Beenox set out to accomplish. I personally think it justifies their design decision to not implement a lot of spidey villains. They scaled back and refined the ones they chose to use. And it made the story all the more compelling.

As I said with Shattered Dimensions, I feel like Beenox is testing the waters at the moment. They don't really know what to do but, as someone stated earlier, their hearts are definitely in the right place. They will survey and see what fans like/don't like from the previous installments and cater to the wishes.

I'm looking forward to seeing their work on The Amazing Spider-Man game. I have a feeling it's probably one of the reason's why Edge of Time's production values were so limited.

I agree, the story was good, the boss battles were awesome, Cat was cheap though,:o and the Dialog between the two was awesome! I remember this section, which I won't spoil for anyone who hasn't played it yet, that I was swinging to escape the fire, those who have played it will know what I'm referring to, and I swung too low and got electrocuted and Josh says the line "don't taze me bro" referring to the famous youtube video of some idiot getting tazed, I was laughing for like five minutes after that one lol!:D:up: The game had it's moments and with some refinements I think they can pull off a great one!:awesome::up:

I agree with the above comments. Beenox did make a good game and there are many of those little things that we Spidey fans appreciate. On the whole though this game while fun leaves something to be desired. It's got all the right pieces, with a few minor issues here and there but something still seems as though it's missing...maybe it's the lack of bosses, maybe it's the length of the game, most of which can probably be attributed to the short development time. I'd give the game a solid 6.

I still can't find it short, I love to play 4-5 hours long games, not an issue

its 4-5 hours? That is a short game. The standard length for the genre these days seems to be closer to 7-8

RE5 is a fun game, to win the unlimited bazooka player needs to finish story in less than 5 hours

I completed Vanquish in 3 and a half hours, it was still one of the best games I played last year.

Sorry for misreading you earlier. Everyone who finished the game said it was over in 6-8 hours, or 8-10 hours, I wasn't talking about EoT

The length of the game really doesn't matter that much if the game is really good. I would have been fine with a Spider-man game that was only 4-5 hours in length if it wasn't the boring mess that is EoT.

I don't know about EoT being a boring mess, I think it's in more ways an improvement to SD than a downgrade, but there are shorter games more fun than what this seems to be
Oh thanks...that makes better sense now!
Glad I cleared the confusion I started

So I decided to rent it and play it after watching how much it improved over Turd Dimensions
Ock's tentacles to hit reminds me of G's arm in RE2 while playing as Leon
Time stuff and quantum causality reminds me of Onimusha 3
Combat reminds me of DmC
Reflexes for ASM improved hugely to what is there in SM3
It has notable stuff similar to games I love, and not downgraded
Story is really good

Basically, gameplay is fun, much much better than the highly praised waste released last year, and it sure doesn't deserve the bashing it got from IGN reviewer or any other one, especially when they say Shattered Dimensions is a good/great/decent Spider-Man game.

So far I gave SD a 2.5/10, and that is something I'm sticking to until my Spider-Man geekiness says its enjoyable

EoT deserves a fine 8.5/10
