Far From Home Spider-Man: Far From Home General Discussion and Speculation - Part 1

I just want to see more of her in the sequel. She and Peter never had any proper conversations.

Black people don’t typically naturally have red hair but hair dye is a thing, so that’s....not an issue. And Zendaya is biracial anyway. But it’s already established Michelle doesn’t have red hair, unless as some suspect, she undergoes an Ally Sheedy esque makeover in the second one and becomes more like classic MJ.
Yes. But that wasn't what I was discussing. I was saying that saying it's not natural doesn't always necessarily mean the person that said it is racist. Though it's cheap if the character's hair is red and it's dyed in movie to me.

I can't take the transformation seriously now, with where we started and think it's lame to do it. Cast another black actress to play Michelle's cousin, but Zendaya's character is already a lost cause to me. Looking at her it could've worked to me, but they didn't do that.

Could work.

It might be cheap, but considering the John Hughes influence, as well as the backlash (not as big of a factor, but still), they seem like they are leaning towards an Allison Reynolds transformation. I'm pretty sure one of the cast members likened Michelle to the character once.

Michelle having a twin is so stupid. For one, having Peter in a relationship with MJ while her twin is crushing on Peter would make for such a stupid and useless love triange. Two, that'd be extremely unprofessional on Marvel's part. Almost like Jerome and Jeremiah on Gotham.

I'm just saying that if the actress is so important to some to play the role of Mary-Jane, then twin is the option for me, because she's not Mary-Jane. Don't have Michelle have a crush on Peter.

Too late. She already does and it'd be so stupid to abandon that.

That's an idea that's not explored in the movie much, if at all. They have no real relationship in it. I think it's at most hinted at and is easy to disregard.

Unless some eagle eyed bystander caught a glimpse on photo.

This is more or less where I'm at with it. Her character, as an original character, was fine. But I would prefer they either:
A.) Keep her an original character.
or
B.) Make her full on MJ with Mary Jane's personality.

I don't want a weird hybrid of a character that kinda but doesn't really act like MJ, and kinda but doesn't really have her name...

Just go all in or fold. None of this halfway crap.

I'm fine if we have a different race MJ. My favorite things about her weren't that she was a hot white chick with red hair, it was that she was a spunky, take no ***** love interest that wasn't the typcial pining away at home worrying about her man type that was common for female characters in comics. She wasn't the typical damsel in distress. She called Pete out on his flakiness. And they did a good job of developing her from someone who seemed like a one-dimensional party girl into someone who had a lot more to her than that.

That's the MJ I want to see. If they transform Michelle into that...then I'm fine with it. I just want to see Mary Jane represented well on film for ONCE. Just once. The Raimi films never got her right, and again, if these films want to do something different, that's fine, just make her a completely original character with no connection to Mary Jane.

I wonder how Disney and Sony are going to advertise this movie, without spoiling Infinity War: Part 2

I figure Sony will just ignore the issue and assume that just about anyone that sees the trailer that its designed to work on already knows about Infinity War and that they will get how he came back on Infinity War part II. Those few Spider-Man only viewers don't need any explanation about his appearance in The Avengers
