Far From Home Spider-Man: Far From Home General Discussion and Speculation - Part 1

Jokes don't mean a movie can't be serious as well. I think the OT for Star Wars are a great example of this. Those movies have more jokes than you remember, but are serious movies.

The standalone movies should feel like their characters. If the events of Infinity War carry over Spider-Man, and it isn't funny because of how depressing deaths were, then we are into Batman v Superman territory where the tone doesn't fit the character of Superman.
And Spider-Man (most of all) should be bright, colorful, funny, lighthearted. At least in this current incarnation of the MCU.

Oh for the love of god, I didn't say they had to go BvS tonal wise to address those issues. Quit the hyperbole. :whatever:

Just that if Peter does end up remembering what happened to him in IW, there are some dramatic and emotional possibilities they could explore. The Spider-Man character isn't just about the yucks.

Have you ever read If This Be My Destiny, Death of Jean Dewolff, Son of a Goblin, Night Gwen Stacy Died, Venom, Death of George Stacy, Return of the Sinister Six, Maximum Carnage,The Gauntlet, Kraven's Last Hunt etc etc?

Spider-Man has DOZENS of serious, dramatic stories. I don't understand the notion that some have that Spider-Man movies are supoose to be comedies. The Raimi films had the perfect time for the character

Have you read my last sentence? At least in this current incarnation of the MCU. The guy is not even on his second film and you already want to adapt all those great storylines? Give Spidey a break. We'll get there. Feige and co will get there.

I just realized we will get the Spider-man trailer even before the last Avengers movie comes out. I don't know if that is a good thing. Of course it is clear that Spider-man will come back, but seeing the trailer for that even before seeing the conclusion of the last one? it will kinda cheapen the great Spider-man death moment in Infinity War.

He never said he wanted those stories adapted though. He just gave examples of Spider-Man stories that have taken a more dramatic and serious tone. He's only implying that this movie doesn't have to go the comedy route.

Yeah, I'm curious how they'll market this film.

Just reading some past comments people do realize this movie is being shot in a studio in London but that doesn't mean its set in London, people do understand the difference right?

You do realize that Kevin Feige confirmed that it's set in London as well as other parts of Europe, and so have multiple articles, AND the movie is literally called Far From Home? You do understand the difference right?

But Feige confirmed that Peter and friends are
on a trip in Europe and, most likely, London is included.

Scenes for SPIDER-MAN: FAR FROM HOME are set to be filmed outside in Liberec, Czech Republic in September, which will reportedly include a town festival and a possible action sequence!

Keywords there, London isn't where everything happens which is what most on here seem to be assuming when talking about set pieces on the London Eye/ Big Ben and Doctor Strange and the London sanctum and no one is speaking about the other filming locations

What do you think the chances are that We'll be seeing Gyllenhaal on set? I say slim to none.

Seems an unnecessary expense to film in London and not set it there. If they wanted one place to represent another, they would film in California or Atlanta.

Damn. :csad: Rest in peace, legend. At least he died of old age.

"I can’t say much about the new Spider-Man but I will offer up that it will be both grander in scale and even funnier than the last one," Lebental teassed. "The rest of the story will have to wait."

I mean, it's a movie starring both Spider-Man and Spider-Woman. Of course it will be funny.

It will probably have humour from his supporting cast as well as Spiderman which am kl with, we already know from Louise Frogley that he will be maturing in far from home. “I am not actually working on that film, but the costumes will have very big changes because, in the film, Spider-Man becomes more like man and not teenager.”

The first teaser and trailer can just focus on the villain. They can easily not give anything away if Marvel is involved in the 1st teaser.

I don't remember if IM3 had a trailer before Avengers came out. If so they would have experience in avoiding spoiling the big movies. Marvel already limits spoilers by using cgi to take things out of a trailer and by focusing on one scene.

Yeah, I'm curious how they'll market this film.

Based on their past record, sadly I don't trust Sony to market this in a way that doesn't spoil anything. I don't just mean in terms of scenes, I imagine the whole first trailer to have an attitude to it that you're not supposed to care about how Peter comes back, or even be surprised by it. "Just enjoy how awesome the new Spider-Man movie looks!" is what I expect the air of it all to be.

Maybe it's just cynicism, but I don't think we have nothing to base that on either.

io9 reached out to both Sony and Disney about this problem created by Infinity War’s plot. A Sony representative would only say the studio will work with Marvel to figure out the Spider-Man strategy. A Disney executive wouldn’t even say that much, they just pointed out there are two Marvel movies coming before Avengers 4 to worry about first (Ant-Man and the Wasp and Captain Marvel).

...

I am not sure why this is... Is it even a problem or reflects badly on any party involved if what you posted comes to pass?

I fail to see the issue.

Bingo. ^

Cross that bridge when we come to it, the movie's only just started shooting. They'll figure it out.
