Yup. She looks good with red hair, and she's a naturally glamorous, stylish woman, but they frump her all up and name her Michelle Jones and then try to have it both ways by calling her MJ and it's just this half-hearted netherworld where she's kinda sorta not really MJ.

You would almost think Zendaya is trying to make herself look like Mary Jane. problem is that they have now got to the point where this character is not Mary Jane. she is Michelle Jones. which means they will probably not wanna combine her too closely with Mary Jane, just with a different name.

It would just make it odd they even created Michelle Jones.

Although if she got the tiger line i wouldn't be totally shocked.

Why would an actress care about making herself look like a fictional character when she's not on set. You guys really think these actors care about this as much as the fans do? She dressed like that because she wants to, I'm sure MJ is the last thing on her mind.

Yeah, she doesn’t care about the MJ thing. She dyed her hair long before she got the part. It’s not new.

That aside, it will always be an odd decision to me, this weird halfway thing they’ve done. I don’t know why they didn’t just fully commit either way, make her 100% her own character, or make her Mary Jane, not this kinda both thing that doesn’t really please anyone. And by anyone I mean the super nerds like us, because the general public doesn’t care.

Seconded. I have no problem with it either way, but poop or get off the pot. Either she is "MJ", or she's just Michelle. Making her a hybrid of both makes her successful as neither. I like her character for the most part, but I won't lie and say that I wouldn't have MUCH PREFERRED them to have made her Mary Jane proper, or even go so far as to make her her own character whose initials didn't happen to be "M" and "J".

I don't dislike her at all, I just don't see why they didn't choose a less divisive path for the character as a whole.
