Far From Home Spider-Man: Far From Home General Discussion and Speculation - Part 2

Apparently her Michelle character is supposed to be an MJ homage. Too bad we couldn't just have the real thing. Smh.

I stand corrected. So does that mean they'll make her Maryjane Watson? I hope they do.

I don’t know how they’d name her Mary Jane Watson now after already naming her Michelle Jones.

A homage character sounds ridiculous when you can use the actual character. That's such a funny concept to me.

Maybe she'll eventually become Mary Jane except in name.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Michelle was the only name used to address her in the movie. For all we know, she could be Michelle MaryJane Watson.

To be fair, Zendaya was referring to her red hair on that day..

I still don't know where ppl got "Jones" from. Where's the official confirmation?

Saw this on tumblr. They guy probably deleted his tweet since its no longer showing up on Twitter.

I get not liking Zendaya as MJ, but tweeting that to her is disrespectful.

All this talk got me thinking. Michelle and ned are both new characters that have not been in spiderman comics. Therefore marvel will have the rights to them rather than sony? As well with happy.

Just makes it harder for sony to take him back after the deal ends (as long as this version stays popular). Not too sure how the rights work.

Michelle for sure. But Ned was in the comics. He's Ned Leeds in name, and Miles Morales' Ganke in spirit and physicality.

When will the social media embargo be lifted?

It’s supposed to lift today, pretty sure we can expect reactions today if not tomorrow.

Brandon Davis tweeted 15 hours ago that he’s seen it and will post his reaction tomorrow, which is today... Today’s a big day people!

I hope its good. With MIB bombing, Spiderman is the only reliable franchise Sony has. If this isn't good and doesn't make more than Homecoming, Sony might pull him from the MCU.

Homecoming wasn't any kind of weak box office, it had Sony's second biggest IMAX opening and was the highest-grossing superhero movie of 2017 and the second highest opening of any Spider-Man movie.

I'm ready for these reactions tonight, I can't wait!!!

A poster posted this on BOT

Get ready to hear lots of swell things.

Movie works on three levels: as a Spidey movie, as fan bait (probably not in the way you’re thinking, but in a way that’s going to blow your frickin’ mind), and as a big, foundational piece of the MCU moving forward

Could it be the twist the director was talking about? The one Tom said would be divisive.

Frankly, I just find it nice to see someone being snarky at a guy like DanielRPK of all people over his vague, non-descriptive tweets. Surely he's heard and seen worse responses whenever he tweets out something vague like many scoopers do.

There's teasing and then there's just being plain annoying.

I understand.

My comment was in reference to what others have said. Zendaya has both the look and personality to pull off a great comic adaptation of classic MJ. But instead they create a Michelle character that only uses the MJ moniker to, per Feige, is an homage to her character. It's frustrating. And it just adds to the head scratching creative decisions that they've made especially with regard to the supporting cast.

There's also a Michelle character that was introduced during the BND era. Michelle Gonzales. She was one of several failed attempts to give Peter a love interest post OMD.
