Far From Home Spider-Man: Far From Home General Discussion and Speculation - Part 2

Here's a better look at Mysterio's costume... it looks pretty damn good, doesn't it?
wow! this looks pretty good. I never go crazy about suits/costumes, but this is great!

I was looking forward to this movie but was not necessarily hyped for it, but I think this movie might end up surprising alot of people.

But why the hell is Peter of all people so tied to S.H.I.E.L.D. anyway, if that's the way they're going with it?

It's kind of fine for the origin movie, leftover Tony influence/guidance from Civil War, but you want to assert Pete as his own person sooner or later. Always hated linking him to all of this Avengers stuff so heavily in the recent books, Ultimate line etc, so unnecessary.

He's the quintessential "street level" superhero, he shouldn't be getting tech/resources from huge world-spanning government entities and billionaire geniuses as a matter of course.
SHIELD plays a pretty big role in Ultimate Spider-Man comics. So the movie is taking inspiration from those comics. I much prefer Shield to Tony Stark anyway.

Well, yeah, and it sucked there too.

I dunno, I just feel like we've got 20 other heroes to deal with all the government agencies/international incidents/high-end superpowered bad guys stuff anyway. The cool thing about Spidey is that he's separated from that, and while not entirely "unique" in the sense that Daredevil & Luke Cage and those guys do the same type of work, that's the type of realm Peter belongs in.

Just sounds like a huge chunk of the movie (probably not all, but a lot) is set overseas, we've got some new "black-ops" suit and Fury and Maria, jesus. It's a little much for a 16 year old "friendly neighborhood Spider-Man".

You can totally craft a satisfying movie with emotional stakes without leaning so hard into this "Junior Avenger" schtick.

Well peter is a kid/teenager and thats the aspect they are playing on here. probably what separates him from the other MCU characters.

Plus its more funny to watch him getting used to cool adult gadgets that you wouldn't normally give a kid if he wasn't a super hero

So Holland just posted on his instagram that they've wrapped all their filming in Europe and heading to New York next. I'm assuming they're going to end up wrapping there. Nice to actually get a lot of on location shooting, doesn't seem like they filmed anything in Atlanta which is nice to know.

Pick up shots might be there I'd assume.

Hopefully we get another 10 years out of him and see him grow into an adult and one day lead the avengers. He has lots more stories to tell and hopefully sony extend their deal with marvel.

So they're making Peter Agent Cody Banks.

If they're continuing the 'teen rebel' theme from Homecoming (which they probably are since Watts is back), I don't think we'll see much of Peter and Shield being buddy-buddies. Plus in the Ultimate books, Peter and Fury don't get along well for most of the Bendis run.

I think the "Junior Avenger" criticism is overblown. I think most of that impression comes from 1. Sony marketing MCU Spider-Man that way and 2. the Russos writing him that way (the Russos do seem to see him that way, unfortunately). As far as the Spider-Man films go, there's not much of that in them yet. If anything, Homecoming is about the opposite.

They're taking from "Ultimate", but not that Ultimate...so, underlined will amaze me if it happens to be the case.

What suggests they're taking from "that Ultimate"? The team behind that show isn't anywhere near Feige and Co.

Was referring to the cartoon, the Iron Spider ep in particular, and Bendis's Miles Morales. It's a dated pre-Homecoming release discussion, I realize that.

Maybe its just me, but i honestly don't see ANY problem with the black suit. Besides, its just set photos. I think it will look a lot better when the trailers release

Yeah as cool as it was to see Peter be knighted as an Avenger in IW the Russos really did undermine the character's arc from Homecoming.

It's probably a long shot, but there have been rumours around the internet about Captain Britain haven't there, and Spider-Man 2 is taking place in Europe; the Avengers are generally focused in America. Could we see a cameo? Or at least a reference being made? Not sure whether any of the film actually takes place in England.

That would be an interesting posdibility...Spidey suppose to kickoff the next phase of films; and, with Captain America end is nye...i can see how this could be a strong possibility. Introduce a new character in the Spidey film, by the likes of Jessica Drew, who is rumored to be an M16 agent...counterpart to Fury's Maria Hill.

Make sense....
