Far From Home Spider-Man: Far From Home General Discussion and Speculation - Part 2

Guardians of the galaxy is more Star Wars then it is a futuristic earth though.

Yeah, but my point was that they took a very unknown property and turned it into an A-list franchise. That's why I put "futuristic" in quotes because I know that it technically takes place in current day. :)

Marvel would likely find a way to take Spider-Man 2099 and give him some mass appeal.

I would love to see a 2099 Spider-Man film. Total Recall (2012) and Ghost in the Shell (2017), were made on budgets not much more than Venom's. Unfortunately, Sony made TR and helped produce Blade Runner 2049, which both didn't do well, so I can't seen them jumping at the idea, despite the fact that neither of those two movie's BO failures had anything to do with the setting.

I am curious as to how far the Spider-Man brand name could carry a movie like that.

I don't think those movies failed because of the futuristic setting, though. They just had niche audiences. Total Recall looked like it was cheaply made, and it was a remake that nobody was asking for. Blade Runner really only drew in fans of the first one. And even if it failed financially, it was critically acclaimed.

I think the combination of Spidey and the future setting would have done gangbusters. People love the Batman Beyond show. This could have been Sony's big-screen way to tap into that same idea.

I just had a thought.

I want a scene where Tom Holland sits in a waiting room and next to him is Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield. Then some says "Peter?" All three look up, "Peter Parker?" Toby and Andrew look back down and Tom stands up.

That's all.

Those new set photos are pretty interesting.

Yep. The next deal negotiations are definitely gonna be interesting. Sure would like to be a fly in that room with Feige and Pascal. Will sandwiches be tossed yet again ? Lol.

That would certainly make the Kraven film more interesting.

Couldn't Kraven the Hunter easily have his story be told in an MCU film over a spin-off film? I mean the inclusion of Spider-Man would be nice, but in my opinion "Venom" could've been 10x better than what it was. Now, reading about 30-40 minutes cut out of the film and trouble on set with Tom Hardy and the script, I would rather Marvel Studios get a dump truck of money and say, "Hey, we'll let you make the Morbius movie but after that, we're taking the Spider-Man universe back."

Unless, Arad, Tolmach, Pascal and Rothman don't get their asses packing soon from Sony, I fear we'll get more mediocrity.

Usually I don't really go for all of the meta stuff, but yeah, I'd dig something like that as a gag bigtime.

The 30-40 mins thing can easily be deceiving. That can be from scene that needed reshot, alternate takes where he did something he liked more than the take they used, etc. I tend to believe the latter is the case since Hardy had a free pass to improv. Just because you improv something doesn't mean it will be used. I don't believe for a second Venom was intended to be 2.5 hours and was cut down to what it is now.

I don't know how this is possible w/o Spidey/Kraven long history with each other & Kraven's insatiable failure in attaining his goal...unless this film is based on:

Kraven's First Hunt(KFH)

I would just make it backstory. Use Act 1 to maybe have flashbacks and establish his defeats at the hands of Spider-Man. I think that would be enough to get people invested.

Maybe so...but with Holland(in Sony gets to use him) being so young in HS...who would believe the backstory. KLH is on good with an older, more grizzled Spiderman.

It could work either way. The point of KLH is that it is his defeats by Spider-Man and failure to finish the hunt that drive him mad. Peter really can be any age since this version will focus mainly on Kraven's end of the story. Just develop they have fought several times off-screen. Peter will have been Spider-Man for several years by the time this movie happens.

Concept art for the Spider-Man PS4 game but if Scorpion looked like this in an upcoming movie, I'd be happy.

I didn't like Scorpion's face/goggles in the game. The rest of it was fine. Nothing that different form what we've seen before. Big green armor.

I think Kraven's Last Hunt could have worked for Homecoming 2. I mean, the book opens with Peter reflecting on all the people that died in his life and how he could die any day. If Tony dies in Avengers 4 and Peter remembers dying in Infinity War, he's already in the same mental space as in the book. Plus Aunt May could have easily filled in the MJ role of being paranoid over Peter not coming home, since she just found out he's Spider-Man .

It's not disappointing they didn't do it, but I'm a little surprised. Seemed like a natural fit.

Hmmm...it suppose to be about Kraven's "Last Hunt"...not all the people Peter lost or reflecting on anything. Kraven is centric to this...Spiderman is the supporting character. That's what forgotten with your idea.
