Far From Home Spider-Man: Far From Home General Discussion and Speculation - Part 2

Not sure about Scorpion... But it 100% has to include Kraven.

Damn if they don't mess this up Spider-Man will have current strongest solo trilogy in MCU.

Scorpion would make sense to me for 2 reasons:

1 - He has been established and wanted Peter's identity back in Homecoming. Now it is public knowledge. He would seek vengeance

2 - With the reintroduction of Jameson/The Bugle, Jameson was key in the creation of the Scorpion. They easily could go this route. Heck, what if Jameson rides this Anti-Spider-Man hysteria and become Mayor Jameson like in recent comics? Then he could easily hire a task force like the comic, maybe with a certain Norman Osborn involved, and boom...Scorpion!

I can see it going either way.

It was alright. Fun, but it just felt like "another one".
Here's my Spidey film rankings so far:

1. Spider-Man 2
2. Spider-Man Into The Spider-Verse
3. Spider-Man
4. Spider-Man: Homecoming
5. TASM
6. Spider-Man: Far From Home
7. Spider-Man 3
8. TAMS2

Right now I think my Spidey film ranking would be this:

1. Spider-Man 2
2. Spider-Man
3. Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse
4. Spider-Man Far From Home
5. Spider-Man Homecoming
6. Spider-Man 3
7. The Amazing Spider-Man
8. The Amazing Spider-Man 2

Just seen it. And it's pretty good.

But Mysterio though? HOLYYY MOLYYY FLBLDDFLVLDBLJDKKLSLDJCS!!!! GGAAAAHHH!!! IT WAS BEAUTIFULLL!!! I ALMOST CRIED!!! AAAH!!!

I think I put it slightly above Homecoming though. Yeah, I like this better than Homecoming.

So I'm not sure if anybody remembers me from back in the day, but I'm the guy who was so mad about Andrew Garfield being replaced that I refused to watch any other MCU film in theaters. And I stuck by that (though I did see a couple on home video).. until now. I finally decided to get over myself and just on impulse bought a ticket and 30 minutes later was sitting there to see Far From Home.

And I didn't hate it. In fact, I liked it. It's not my favorite in the franchise but I thought it was a really solid film. The best part to me was all the high school stuff, Ned was even more hilarious and I even fell in love with MJ, who I was really hesitant about after Homecoming. And maybe most surprisingly, Tom Holland finally won me over in his portrayal (he's still not my favorite but hey).

My biggest problem is still the whole Uncle Ben/Iron Man Jr. stuff, but I'm hopeful we can move past it from here on.

Right now I think my Spidey film ranking would be this:

1. Spider-Man 2
2. Spider-Man
3. Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse
4. Spider-Man Far From Home
5. Spider-Man Homecoming
6. Spider-Man 3
7. The Amazing Spider-Man
8. The Amazing Spider-Man 2

Exactly how I would rank it as well:up:

7. The Amazing Spider-Man
8. The Amazing Spider-Man 2

I would be:
1.) Spider-verse
2.) Far From Home
3.) Homecoming
4.) All the Spider-Man scenes from the other non-MCU Spidey films
5.) Spider-man
6.) TASM and Spider-man 2 are tied
7.) TASM2
8) Spider-man 3

If we include non-film adaptations, SSM and Spider-verse are tied for 1.

Oh hey i saw you in one other thread and yeah i remember i think you were the only one besides me that thought amazing spiderman 2 was good lol. I am glad you like the movie i loved it but i do think Garfield is the best just didnt have the writing to work with. Didn't realize you had like not watched mcu movies has of late.

My ranking:

1. TASM
2. Spiderverse
3. Spider-Man 2
4. Homecoming
5. TASM2
6.Far From Home
7. Spider-Man
8. Spider-Man 3

Spider-Man 3 is the only one I dislike. thought Far From Home was pretty messy, the movie desperately needed some action with Spider-Man in the beginning that we just didn't get, but Mysterio is such a great villain that he manages to save it.

I actually didn’t mind not getting Spider-man action right away because they did a good job of building up Peter as a character.

We got some good development, but they also wasted a lot of time repeating jokes with the classmates being awkward as well, they could easily have cut some of that and added some sort of action scene, even if it's just a relaxing swinging sequence.

I may have missed it screwing with my popcorn but did they explain mysterios green lasers and dr strange symbols coming out of his hands? Plus aflying etc?

That was all part of the illusion. He wasn’t actually doing any of that.

The filmmakers think his classmates are a lot funnier and more endearing than they are.

Mysterio was cool and all...

Jake Gyllenhaal was certainly in this movie.

What did this character even want?
To be listened to by the world? Great. About what? His inventions?

I kind of don't like that the threat is
Tony Stark's drones, and the plot relies on Tony Stark giving Peter the tech infrastructure, instead of all those supposedly brilliant people perveting their own/Stark's ideas to make the drones themselves (which they seem to have been doing anyway?)

When will Pete learn to leave his mask on when he's out in the open? :oldrazz: haha. Mysterio was the best part of the film for me, mainly those nightmare scenes. Although his motivations were kinda... meh.

I think I'd rank the Spidey films like this:

Spider-Man 2
Spider-Man
Into The Spiderverse
Homecoming
Far From Home
The Amazing Spider-Man
The Amazing Spider-Man 2
Spider-Man 3

@THORin

regarding nick fury in space I felt they were building a space station which leads me to believe S.W.O.R.D is being introduced

I think that's the most likely meaning. It also has the side benefit of being the most flexible and non-specific. It could connect to any number of possible future movies and plots, or even just be left alone as a "this world is weird" thing, if nothing actually ends up shaking out.

Movie was fun. I enjoyed it. I just wish this Spider-Man franchise strived to be more than just "fun" because I feel like certain elements of the character suffer because of the writers' seeming fear to pay more than lip service to dramatic ideas and true emotional pathos. Aunt May in particular I feel is a symptom of this problem.

Either way, I'm very interested in seeing where they take the 3rd film and I hope they actually deal with the consequences of the route they've decided to take with this character

1. Spider-Man 2
2. Into The Spider-Verse
3. Spider-Man
4. Far From home
5. Homecoming
6. The Amazing Spider-Man
7. Spider-Man 3
8. The Amazing Spider-Man 2
9. Venom

Spider-Man 2
Spider-Man
Into the Spider Verse
Spider-Man Homecoming
Spider-Man Far From Home
Spider-Man 3 (still think its more accurate to the characters world than the MCU version though)
TASM
TASM2

If the MCU keeps pushing Spider-Man to be "Iron-Boy" going foward, my interest is going to decline even more on the MCU Spider-Man. to quote a youtuber I watch, "The story of Spider-Man shouldn't be the story of Iron Man". Tom Holland is awesome, and I enjoyed both Homecoming and FFH, but I've stated dozens of times, they are doubling down on all the issues i have with this version of the character. It seems that isn't going to change unfortunately, but who knows.

if it wasn't for how great Mysterio was this movie was just ok

I hope the classmates get a significant cut in screen time next time
