Far From Home Spider-Man: Far From Home General Discussion and Speculation - Part 2

Where was the scene of Spidey taking out the baddies in that bar in his Iron Spider suit where he's telling those cops he's going on vacation?

It was cut from the movie.

It was cut but is going to be part of the short film Peter's To Do List on the Blu-Ray release (alongside the passport and bodega scenes).

Dang yea I forgot about those too! I wasn't aware they were cut until I saw the film and when it was over I was like hey wait a minute!

Has anyone seen this video before where Holland, Zendaya and Gyllenhaal visit a children's hospital?

It's funny how Holland is speaking in a British accent at the start, but once he appears to the children he switches to an American one.

I really wish they hadn't cut that, we don't get a proper action scene with Spidey until nearly an hour into the film, which is really jarring for me considering this isn't an origin film.

And the first action scene he's in, he isn't even wearing his costume.

When I watched that Venice scene I finally realized the backstory behind a weird video from Tom Holland's Instagram story way back when with him and his best friend walking around wearing those carnival masks.

We did get Peter action scene though with him trying to help the people and him first seeing Mysterio like half a hour into the movie or something though, and even spiderman 2 is like not none stop action when you think about it. But I do agree that getting one more action scene of some sort before that fight around a hour in would have helped with the pacing some. So yeah I wish they hadn't cut it either and after I first saw the movie I was like oh that scence wasn't in the movie.

While I think they are a prime example of some pretty toxic, unhealthy, and sometimes downright ugly side of fandom, I'm surprised there's no discussion happening here in regards to Midnight's Edge's YT video in regards to Spidey and the Sony/Marvel deal and what may be the real reasons Marvel made the creative choices they did with MCU Spidey.

Okay guys..time to do some research. Quote from Nerdist with Feige:

[One place he told us to search for them is in Italy. “If you look at some of the street signs in Venice, they’re inspired by some of the more recent Spider-Man comic writers and artists. And in this one in particular, there are Easter eggs that, once you know the twist and you watch the movie again, you can look for signs that point towards both what happens with Mysterio and what happens with Fury at the very end of the movie.”]

The writers that appear in that sequence are--

Roger Stern
Brian Bendis
Gerry Conway
Dan Slott
David Michelinie

Slott wrote Mysterioso in which I think he fakes his death at the end? In an explosion on a boat? Something like that. Maybe this is their way of saying Mysterio's not dead lol

"On August 30th, for Labor Day Weekend, Sony Pictures Entertainment will be reissuing a Director’s Cut of Spider-Man: Far From Home into theaters across the country. This Director’s Cut will feature unseen footage added back into the film for an all new Spider-Man experience. There will be a major marketing campaign behind this new cut, so we are asking for everyone’s support in playing the picture in both regular and PLF screens."

I hope it's true :wow:.

Man, I love it. I’m in. Been craving one more theatrical viewing.

Another flippin' re-release. Well, I sat out Endgame's re-release and have no qualm doing the same for this one, too. But anyone who wants to pay a ticket for the same movie plus four minutes...more power to you, I suppose.

Nah
F* this trend
Sorry Marvel, it was one thing for Endgame because it was the "ending" and felt special
but if every movie is gunna get a re-release now with unfinished footage, it feels tawdry and desperate in a way that Marvel doesn't need to be desperate, considering how much these movies make without a re-release

Movies have had director’s cuts and extended editions for ages. For fans of a film, that’s usually a nice thing. Sometimes the extra stuff isn’t great, but there are many times where the extended/director’s cut winds up being my preferred version of the movie.

But most of the time people only get to see these alternate cuts on their home “screens”. I find it frustratingly weird that some people are so jaded that they look at something like this as a negative.

I really enjoyed Far From Home, but I did feel that it was missing “something” as I would have liked to see a bit more of “Spider-Man” doing his thing in NYC before he goes to Europe. If this is a NYC Spidey action scene at the beginning of the film, then it may be exactly what I thought the original movie needed in the first place. So I’ll be interested to see this, and on an actual movie screen.

If it's actually a "Director's Cut" yes, that's usually a good thing and fun for the fans

but if it's the same level of unfinished-cgi, useless, extended scenes as Endgame- tacked on just to make a few extra bucks- then I'm good on it

Is the extra footage actually in the movie or is it going to be like after the credits or something

I personally am not a fan of extended cuts that are done just for the sake of doing an Extended Cut. If it's something like the director did not get Final Cut and then the studio lets them put their version of movie out that's one thing, but for cash grabs were just making another version of the movie just to make a couple extra bucks and throw in random footage in the movie, I don't like that very much. I prefer to get the real version of the movie the first time I go see it. Not be denied that when I first watch it.
