I'm hoping this game will be free of the post-OMD stuff the same way the Rocksteady games were very much pre-New 52 Batman. I mean that's not to say they can't use characters past that (obviously), but I'm referring more to tone and spirit of the mythos. And that means lots and lots of MJ.

hmm that'll be a first. not sure how far that will go but we'll see. . if this like RPG level to a certain degree I can see. we'll see.

Treyarch gave us some sprinkles of romance, in their movie tie-in open world games.

They also confirm a weather system and couldn't answer if it effected gameplay.

I remember reading last year that they want to make a series out of this. I think it's already set as this will be a system seller for Sony.

Bit off-topic, but there is a fan made Spider-Man game being developed for Unreal Engine 4.

It looks really basic right now but they're trying to emulate Spider-Man 2's gameplay from the looks of it. Oh and it's completely free!

if it's down it may be cause of cease and desist order via marvel's lawyers over the use ofthe character. cause they don't have permission yet. and they didn't head to marvel at all to get it or hasn't yes and doesn want any games made til they do or feel like it if ever. til they do this will keep happening to them. even if what they are doing may be cool .

Also yeah the weather stuff is exciting, their's never been an open world Spider-Man game that has weather before. I wonder if rain will actually effect Spidey's climbing like Zelda BoTW did when climbing.

Apparently GodzillaMendoza won't be voicing Spider-Man or writing the story anymore.

Apparently they're accusing him of sharing the source code of the game.

Damn....

Anyway, back to Spider-Man PS4.

They mentioned in that Daily Star interview that they'll be using villains that don't have a connection to Peter as well. Great! They don't all need to be connected to him. I do hope Curt Connors is in the game though as someone Pete knows. I'm also hoping we see Shocker, Rhino (yes I know, force him to charge into stuff then attack him method, but maybe they can give him a cool set piece and a new interesting boss battle mechanic), Mysterio, Sandman and Hobgoblin just to name a few, who don't have a connection to Pete.


I think Hobgoblin could do with some more exposure in the games. Plus Peter's been Spider-Man for 8 years so I'd imagine the Green Goblin has already been a thing. Unless they go the animated series route.

I wouldn't mind seeing Hobgoblin in a videogame too or even Doppleganger who is a more obscure character.

I'd dig a mix between obscure and old mainstays. Hobby could be cool; his whole visual aesthetic is so different from Normans, he could really be something striking and unsettling.

I love the fact that this is going to have a weather system.
We've never had a Spider-Man game that utilized that. It could make
for some beautiful scenes, whether it be with MJ or fighting a boss.

I'd rather they just be dating/engaged. I'd love to see it progress to
actually being married in the sequel, if anything. Also, I don't mind an RPG element.

I recently picked up an Xbox and grabbed Sunset Overdrive. I was apprehensive about the new Spidey game but after playing Sunset Overdrive...good lord am I excited now. It's such a fun game and traversal is on point; easily the strongest navigation mechanic I've seen in a game in a long time. They could change NOTHING and just add a Spidey costume to the Sunset model and it would be the best Spidey in years.

Yeah, apparently the developers pinned a false accusation on him because he decided to leave the project. Very unprofessional. I didn't think he seemed like the kind of person who would do something like that, so I thought it was odd when they accused him of that. Apparently they were using him for publicity or something?

Yikes, this looks like a kerfuffle...gonna be a shame if this project gets bogged down with drama and betrayals.

Wow. This is some excellent praise. Thank you for posting your thoughts/review of Sunset. I've never played the game but it's definitely good to hear positive remarks about the traversal--that makes me even more confident about Insomniac's ability to handle Spider-Man in the open world.
