Playstation Spider-Man (PS4) - Part 3

Kinda annoyed that they made her suit so practical, yet they insist on giving her high heels. ='D

So I had a day off on Monday, played from Sunday night until around 4 AM and finished the story mode on Spectacular.

I have to say, this is by far one of the best gaming experiences I've ever had. I sort of envy kids growing up today who will remember this the same way I remember playing Spider-Man 2 - but then again, I have a sense of appreciation going from that to more than a decade later and enjoying the spectacle of this game.

I really can't come up with many flaws for this game. At the most, one of the boss fights was a little underwhelming, and I wish there was a dedicated crawl/stick button (especially when you run up the side of building which is pointy from the top, and need to stick, if that makes sense).

Such a gripping end, unlocking a certain suit was such a charm, and it has left me wondering what may come in the future installments.

This was truly a win-win for both Insomniac and fans.

The suit I was referring to:
the vintage Ditko suit

after getting 100% with everything, all trophies, etc. and letting the game sink in, I have come to the conclusion that this is easily the best Spider-Man story since the Spectacular Spider-Man animated series, the best Spider-Man "movie" since Spider-Man 2, and the best story in general since the Raimi films. In my mind, Spider-Mans best adaptions whether in movies, animation, or games have been the Raimi movies, The Spectacular Spider-Man, and Spider-Man PS4. Thank you, Insomniac, for creating a Spider-Man experience that was engrossing, emotional and actually gripped me again, which is something I haven't truly felt to its 110% potential in a decade.

Kids today don't know how many average non-Arkham superhero games we've had to get through to get to this point!

Not really. She has a grapple rope and it seems like she’ll be swinging around like she did in the comics based on the teaser. It’s also how she moved around in the Spider-Man 2 Game too. You should complain about playing as MJ/Miles though if you want to complain about being stuck on the ground.

I like this Black Cat design.

To all the people across the Internet already whining about DLC and even a sequel, lol, don't blame Insomniac that you went and blew your wad. We've been waiting for at least 2 years for this game so it's your fault that you decided to beat it in 3 days. I'm not looking at any one on these boards, just stuff I've seen from random comments here and there.

Yeah, some new random crimes would be nice with the DLC, I'd also like them to make the Prisoner/Demon random crimes appear now and then after you've 100 percented all districts, just to put some more variety in.

There's rumors abound that Insomniac will be adding this in a future patch along with some other random events/crimes. I truly hope they do.

Are you referring to the concept art or her outfit in the DLC trailer? From what I remember she was wearing shoes similar to the ones that are on the black suit she gives to Spidey.

Yeah, the crimes, even during the story mode, are tedious AF.

It's a struggle to get the 5 per category per district. I'm not doing a single crime beyond what's absolutely necessary.

I still think we are very fortunate. Spider-Man really seemed to turn movie and superhero games around. The first movie game was a hit, and obviously Spider-Man 2 was even bigger. Hulk 2003 and X2: Wolverine's Revenge were very well received. Punisher in 2005 was also a hit. Even Fantastic Four did decent, as did Spider-Man 3. Of course, Rise of the Silver Surfer and X-Men The Official Game kind of crashed a bit, as did some others. But we also had comic games like Ultimate Spider-Man and Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction. Spidey has had a pretty good game selection, in my opinion. My teenage years were very blessed with Spidey and Hulk games.

X-Men Legends was so good back in the day. Ultimate Destruction too. Then Spider-Man 2/Ultimate Spider-Man and MUA. We had a good run in the PS2/xbox days.
Yeah I loved the XML games.

We are SO fortunate, take everything into account and what was built and presented ? We have been given a masterpiece.
Couldn't really have asked for more. It has totally delivered on the hype.

Yes, X-Men Legends and Ultimate Alliance are great.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine was a blast too. Too bad the movie wasn't .

Well, this game and GoW have sold me on a PS4. Loved the story so much, probably going to pick up the tie-in novel.

Right before you reach the top, it gives you this (O) indicator that you can perch, by either slowing down with L2 first then pressing R2, or just pressing L2+R2 right when you see it. If you mean just sticking to the wall, you just release the stick while running up, or tap R2 in the air near the wall.

I won't envy them, but I will appreciate being able to enjoy the previous games. :word:

Couldn't agree more.

I still remember playing Activision's Spider-Man on PS1 in 2000. After that, the Raimi trilogy games were for me how kids right now are feeling about Spidey on PS4.

Thanks for the response. I'm aware of what you're referring to, and maybe I just need to get better, but I wish there was a button that made Spidey slam his breaks and come to a complete stop/stick (without perching). I understand the mechanics of the game are designed for him so that there is always forward momentum, but that would help more in scenarios such as the one I mentioned earlier.

Some news from a livestream...

Patch 1.06 is coming sometime this week. Most likely will just be some bug fixes including a crashing problem some people have been experiencing as well as some out of the map issues.

There's a possibility that the web blossom suit power will be nerfed. Apparently Insomniac thinks it's too powerful and takes away from a fun aspect of the game or the challenge. This has NOT been confirmed to be happening.

We'll have to wait a bit longer for the new game plus update though. They're still working on it and it won't be ready for a couple of weeks.

As soon as it’s out I’ll boot the game back up, but at this point I’m basically just aimlessly free roaming.

This is part of the reason I am taking my time with the game. I'm only at 50% completion after probably 30+ hours of gameplay.
