Man, it's great to see that you're still here pal! I'm really happy to be here and talk to you again! I'm doing well, not much has happened since we last spoke. I'm working, playing some games, watching movies and so on haha! It feels good that our Spidey is in good hands now again! Off topic, but have you played God of War? In that case, what did you think about that game? And how's your life?![]()
Yup still here. I think I'm probably a lifer, lol. Glad to hear you're doing well. Not much different for me...just the usual, work, family, Spider-Man, watching movies etc. I have NOT played GoW yet but I plan on it this winter. I'm most likely gonna pick up RDR2 in October and then get GoW in late November--see if there's any black Friday deals. But based on reviews the game looks dope so I'm excited to play it.
Glad to hear that your experience with the game has been free from glitches and that Insomniac will fix that stuff. It must be hard to make such a big game free from bugs and glitches so I don't really blame them haha.
It's weird how those glitches or bugs work cause you'd think it would affect everyone. We're all playing the same game with the same updates on the same console. I dunno. Weird. Btw, make sure you're ps4 has the latest update...I've heard that's partly responsible for the freezes. But, there's also a decent amount of people that it's happening to that have everything updated. But yeah, I saw a tweet from Insomniac stating they are aware of it and hopefully this next update fixes the problem.
I don't remember the stealth sections from ASM, but yeah, I think the stealth in this game wasn't given as much time and care as the rest of the gameplay. But that is expected given that this is their first shot at Spider-Man, the swinging, combat and story is of first priority to nail and they did a great job at that.
Oh yes, for a debut Spidey game I think Insomniac has done an excellent job. The story thus far, the combat and traversal, are all fantastic. You can tell they are big fans of the character. Always room for improvement though. Arkham Asylum was a great game but even Rocksteady was able to make notable improvements from that game to city. I would expect the same here. The stealth in the first ASM game was basically a rip off from Arkham however Beenox still did a good job of it. You could do takedowns from walls or the ceiling not just perch points and you could clear an entire room with stealth if you wanted. In this game stealth is either cut short or you're forced to use it. Not really awful by any means but this is definitely an area that can benefit from more detail.
You're right that it the gadget wheel feels better to use after a while, but I also really like the shortcuts in the Arkham games. Since we're using the d-pad for other stuff in this game however, their solution might have been the best anyway.
I personally love the gadget wheel in this game but yeah I do love the shortcuts in Arkham. If I remember correctly though in Arkham you had to equip the gadgets you wanted to use for each of the D-pad buttons whereas here all of the gadgets are immediately accessible. I guess there's pros and cons with each. But like several other posters on here I was running into the same issue of having the muscle memory from the Arkham games under my fingers. It took awhile to get over that learning bump. I kept hitting triangle during this game trying to counter lol.
Oh yeah! When I say this is a great foundation for a series, I mean that in a big way. It's a great game on its own. If they keep build on to this, fix some stuff and keep evolving the series, I think the next game is a real 10/10 contender. I can't wait to see where they take the story from here.
It's about time haha! I can't wait 'til you've finished the game to hear what you think about the whole thing. I think if you love this game so far, you'll love it even more later as the game gets better and better in my opinion.
EDIT: I see The Joker liked my previous comment as well. Great to see you here too man! Hope all is well with you too!
Imo, so far, Insomniac has created a winner. And I'm happy to see that the game is selling like crazy...that should ensure continued support for the sequel.
I'm taking my time with the game for sure but the more I complete the more I'm anxious to see where this all goes.
Even at Ultimate level? That's always what I aim for because I want to unlock everything in the game. You have to find the best route and land perfectly everywhere while close enough to the bomb to press L1 + R1 before you even touch the ground and make sure you throw the bomb away at the direction you're planning to go next or you lose a couple of precious seconds.
That was frustrating.
Last night I completed the remaining challenges left on my map and I got gold across the board. After reading several of the posts on here before undertaking them I was worried cause they sounded near impossible. But imo they actually weren't that bad. The drones were imo the most difficult but once you memorized the path it was doable to get gold. The bomb ones were probably the toughest to get the time bonus. They left absolutely no room for error but again once you found the right path, it was doable.
. In a month from now the DLC should drop to add more thrills. Great job none the less.
