Playstation Spider-Man (PS4) - Part 3

Man, it's great to see that you're still here pal! I'm really happy to be here and talk to you again! I'm doing well, not much has happened since we last spoke. I'm working, playing some games, watching movies and so on haha! It feels good that our Spidey is in good hands now again! Off topic, but have you played God of War? In that case, what did you think about that game? And how's your life? :)

Yup still here. I think I'm probably a lifer, lol. Glad to hear you're doing well. Not much different for me...just the usual, work, family, Spider-Man, watching movies etc. I have NOT played GoW yet but I plan on it this winter. I'm most likely gonna pick up RDR2 in October and then get GoW in late November--see if there's any black Friday deals. But based on reviews the game looks dope so I'm excited to play it.

Glad to hear that your experience with the game has been free from glitches and that Insomniac will fix that stuff. It must be hard to make such a big game free from bugs and glitches so I don't really blame them haha.

It's weird how those glitches or bugs work cause you'd think it would affect everyone. We're all playing the same game with the same updates on the same console. I dunno. Weird. Btw, make sure you're ps4 has the latest update...I've heard that's partly responsible for the freezes. But, there's also a decent amount of people that it's happening to that have everything updated. But yeah, I saw a tweet from Insomniac stating they are aware of it and hopefully this next update fixes the problem.

I don't remember the stealth sections from ASM, but yeah, I think the stealth in this game wasn't given as much time and care as the rest of the gameplay. But that is expected given that this is their first shot at Spider-Man, the swinging, combat and story is of first priority to nail and they did a great job at that.

Oh yes, for a debut Spidey game I think Insomniac has done an excellent job. The story thus far, the combat and traversal, are all fantastic. You can tell they are big fans of the character. Always room for improvement though. Arkham Asylum was a great game but even Rocksteady was able to make notable improvements from that game to city. I would expect the same here. The stealth in the first ASM game was basically a rip off from Arkham however Beenox still did a good job of it. You could do takedowns from walls or the ceiling not just perch points and you could clear an entire room with stealth if you wanted. In this game stealth is either cut short or you're forced to use it. Not really awful by any means but this is definitely an area that can benefit from more detail.

You're right that it the gadget wheel feels better to use after a while, but I also really like the shortcuts in the Arkham games. Since we're using the d-pad for other stuff in this game however, their solution might have been the best anyway.

I personally love the gadget wheel in this game but yeah I do love the shortcuts in Arkham. If I remember correctly though in Arkham you had to equip the gadgets you wanted to use for each of the D-pad buttons whereas here all of the gadgets are immediately accessible. I guess there's pros and cons with each. But like several other posters on here I was running into the same issue of having the muscle memory from the Arkham games under my fingers. It took awhile to get over that learning bump. I kept hitting triangle during this game trying to counter lol.

Oh yeah! When I say this is a great foundation for a series, I mean that in a big way. It's a great game on its own. If they keep build on to this, fix some stuff and keep evolving the series, I think the next game is a real 10/10 contender. I can't wait to see where they take the story from here.

It's about time haha! I can't wait 'til you've finished the game to hear what you think about the whole thing. I think if you love this game so far, you'll love it even more later as the game gets better and better in my opinion.

EDIT: I see The Joker liked my previous comment as well. Great to see you here too man! Hope all is well with you too!

Imo, so far, Insomniac has created a winner. And I'm happy to see that the game is selling like crazy...that should ensure continued support for the sequel.

I'm taking my time with the game for sure but the more I complete the more I'm anxious to see where this all goes.

Even at Ultimate level? That's always what I aim for because I want to unlock everything in the game. You have to find the best route and land perfectly everywhere while close enough to the bomb to press L1 + R1 before you even touch the ground and make sure you throw the bomb away at the direction you're planning to go next or you lose a couple of precious seconds.
That was frustrating.

Last night I completed the remaining challenges left on my map and I got gold across the board. After reading several of the posts on here before undertaking them I was worried cause they sounded near impossible. But imo they actually weren't that bad. The drones were imo the most difficult but once you memorized the path it was doable to get gold. The bomb ones were probably the toughest to get the time bonus. They left absolutely no room for error but again once you found the right path, it was doable.

Did all the secret photo ops and got the ESU costume unlocked.

Finished the game, got the Platinum trophy which is my third one. Got the other two from the previous Spidey games. I enjoyed it very much had me tuned in all the way. This game to me was a warm up of what Insomniac could do next one out. Hope they fix all those glitches soon, I caught a couple of funny ones in photo mode, good for laughs:yay:. In a month from now the DLC should drop to add more thrills. Great job none the less.
:susd:

I took some great shots from the final battle and others I'd like to share with you guys. One in particular is my new PS4 wallpaper.

Velocity suit inside a dark warehouse is my favorite.

Found all backpacks, did all Task Master challenges and kicked his butt :) It was fun to see him use Spidey's moves against me, although the fight was very short and not very challenging

I didn't mind the drone challenges. What I didn't like was the stealth, because the climbing controls are so clunky. And once you zip to certain perchpoints it will weirdly lock your movement like on the peaks of water towers and triangle roofs. Its still managable, but it doesnt feel good

I hope Insomniac understands to fix these things for the sequel, because its kind of a weird oversight in the first place

Do I have to get gold in all the challenges to unlock that? I’m very interested in getting Spider-Man in his underwear
No, you just need to 100% all districts, so all side missions, faction crimes, research stations, pidgeons, etc. you only need to bronze each challenge to get it.

I think 8.5 is a pretty solid score for this game. Most of the "cons" in the game are small things that could use a polish, but nothing major. I would like to see some added activities to do around the city, more variety in crimes other than some car chases and kidnappings, more variety in finishing moves and animations, and make the environment a bit more interactive.
I would also make the boss fights a bit more challenging and include additional mini boss fights (such as Tombstone).
I think that the game's strongest point is the writing and story. The characters are very well written and likable, and now I am invested in this version of the Spider-Verse. I know that a lot of people dislike the
MJ/Miles
missions, but I really enjoyed playing as a non-super powered human in a world full of superheroes and supervillains.

My wishlist for the sequel is to expand the NYC map (portions of Queens or Brooklyn), fully customize a Spider-Man costume (choose a spider logo and lenses, change colors, etc),
play as a superpowered Miles,
and maybe have certain decisions impact the story of the game. You play as both Peter Parker and Spider-Man, so what if you can choose to ignore a call for help and you suffer the consequences of it later on? Or if you do choose to run off as Spider-Man, your life as Peter Parker gets hit hard?

Just some thoughts. I know I'm rambling here.

I got platinum yesterday, my first ever platinum trophy.

What an amazing game this is. It really lived up to the hype.

Can't wait for the sequel. Loving everyone's photos!

I think the game is an easy 9 for me, it's basically the complete package when it comes to the basis: gameplay, graphics and story, the biggest surprise. It's the best Marvel game ever and the sequel has the potential to be a 10, instant classic production. From my fan perspective:

Spider-Man ps4 9
X-Men Legends 1/2 8.8
Hulk Ultimate Destruction 8.5
Spider-Man 2 8.5
Marvel Ultimate Alliance 1/2 8.2
Ultimate Spider-Man 8
X-Men Origins Wolverine 8
Shattered Dimensions 8
The Amazing Spider-Man 7.8

Hope The Avengers Project delivers too, big expectations after Spidey.

Spider-Phelps
Also, I got sucked into a building. Couldn't web swing inside, but can web-perch & crawl around.

This has happened to me twice. Once during a boss fight, and once during a car chase. The car knocked me into a building and I was trapped.

Loving these photos from you guys. Absolutely brilliant.

I'm at 70% currently, I've finished all the side missions I currently have access. I'm maybe half way through the main story, I'm guessing. Just got to the
boss battle with Mr. Negative on the subway.
Unfortunately, I had to return to school, so I'm not going to be able to pick up again for a few weeks. Absolutely love the game so far.

It's work with
Otto and Norman especially are fantastic. They're my two favorite Spidey villains and I really love the character's they're building up. I'm really excited to see how the build upon Norman in the sequel, a lot of potential for great tragedy. I kind of hope they save him for a third game.

Needs MJ

I faced the glitch in both Spider-Man 3 and Web of Shadows, fall damage in SM3 helped me exit, but I was completely trapped in WoS after it autosaved insider the building.
How did you get out in this one?

I just reloaded last checkpoint. There's a video online though showing someone going through the museum that's supposed to be in the upcoming dlc. He eventually fell through the floor, was able to web swing under the city, then died, so I guess there was a way for me out of the matrix.

As long as it's escapable.

Just got the artbook for the game today and also the ratchet and clank artbook. I dont have a lot of video game artbooks but I love the ratchet and clank franchise and this game. Have not looked at it yet watching football and have to study for a test that I have tomorrow.
